It's not by adding millions of pixels that you'll teach people how to encode a video. 1080P or 4K is just the amount of pixels. Here the pb is the compression.

There's only one thing I'm having issue with this software, and I'm surprised no one has brought it up, at least I haven't seen anyone mention of it, why or if so, when will there be mesh importing into this software? Because to me it seems like this is meant to compete with Substance Designer, and it does that well, but the advantage with Substance Designer is that you can import meshes into it. As soon as that is allowed in Mixer, then this software will be better or more user friendly than Substance Designer in my opinion!

I realized that painting has ctrl+z, but not the sliders. Just some bug I found, if you paint on displacement only, and you press ctrl+z, it adds the values to all channels.

I have a few questions if anyone can answer this: During the export part of this video why does he toggle of the flip Y on the Normal? Is this is always done for all external rendering programs or just Marmoset in this case? The same goes for the displacement, why did he disable normalize? And when should we toggle this option? One last question, what's the difference between srgb and linear and when should I use it?

A bit late, but I just saw this today. Quixel Studio requires a version of Photoshop (CS4 and up). Quixel Mixer is standalone. Hurray!

Very Important Question, couldnt find the answer on the website so i am asking here. I made my own material im mixer, exported it to the Library and wanted to add it into UE4 via the Live Link function. Before i already imported plenty of assets and surfaces, but when i export my own into ue4 it only exports the Displacement and Normal map. Why is that?

Both. Each asset costs points which you get a certain amount per month with your subscription but you can also add points to your account separately.

i want to export the texture maps of a custom mesh, but the exported maps only contain the area of only one part of the mesh. similar to substance painter's muiltiple texture maps, it only has one part of the mesh,. but my mesh has 1 texture sets and i use id masks. I cant find a solution, but it renders mixer completely unusable

Layer masks are coming shortly, however in the meantime you can clip a paint layer to your surface/layer, and paint in the displacement channel to hide/reveal features.

Just found this and to be honest it is actually and insult for those who purchased Quixel Suite. I bought mine thinking that Megascans was already in it and only the Icon was lol. After waiting months, i got excited when suddenly the icon was usable only to find out that you had to make in store purchases like in games you buy that make the bucks on their DLC or in store content. And now they rehash Megascans as this Mixer. Really!!!, Don't get me wrong.. Quixel is a nice powerful tool as this so called addition is. But now you want us to pay more and then still buy content. Give us a way to be creative. Real Artists dont want to drag and drop premade content. sure it is a great way to learn understanding workflow, but give us the ability to create our own layers then use this phenomenal blending tech. Those non artists will eat this up as it is easy, however it is not very creative when 1,000s of game assets have the same ol rehash stuff and nothing original.

Don't get me wrong, the quality is great, as a scanned asset can be... Buuuuut, this is the Poser 3D of textures, I cannot wait to see entire portfolios of "texture artist" full of the same materials XD. "Here I pushed the slider a little to the right to show more grunge, can I be a lead texture artist now?"

you can say that about SD as well. its everyone using the same procedures with the same fractals. i see the same rock shapes over and over with sd and thats from "experts" i wont mention. many people just copy others as well. im a 20 yr games vet btw. i dont care how i get there as an artist, i just want to get there....i know SD as well. the biggest drawback is its complexity. exp for new users. quixel is very smart to go after its weaknesses. i will use both myself...but i would be very slow to dismiss this. 2cts

Update: Downloaded the trial of Toolbag, but is the Toolbag scene meant to be only half a sphere? Did the turntable feature and it cuts half way during rotation :'(

idk, from an outsiders perspective there seems to be a fair amount of artistry involved in getting the texture you want. Maybe that's just technical knowledge but it seems that the ability to mix things and make new textures is certainly better and more flexible than having a fixed set of options to choose from, which would result in what you describe.

I find that more with the scanned meshes.. You always see the same scanned meshes being used in scenes. With scanned textures you can get a much bigger variety now.
