Installed today. It works! 16pin. Only one question. Why does it need to mount the temperature sensor to the coils?
@qwikproduct
@qwikproduct 5 жыл бұрын
The temperature sensor is an essential aspect of the QwikSwap V3. It is in place to take readings of the coil temperature and allows the replacement PSC motor to change between high, medium, and low speeds during operation. The sensor also ensures that the coil does not get too cold as the motor changes to lower speeds. If the coil does get too cold, the temperature sensor will cause the motor to switch to a higher speed to make sure that the coil does not freeze.

@@qwikproduct thats a great answer BUT how come the original x13 does not need that extra wire sensor and its able to vary between speeds?

@@joeydelmarsjr.646 Original ECM will preset airflow by manufacturers. Motor will change speed when resistance in duct changed, to maintain constant airflow CFM.

I do building automation. We have a site with 2.3 ecm motors in a bunch of heatpumps. The motors are fine, we just need a way to take control of the motor speeds via a controller that can take 2-10v or 4-20ma ect input signal. They are controlled by jci factory FX-10 that are no longer made, which controlled the ecm motors via a pwm output and 1k ohm resistor.

will this require a common at the Thermostat, or will it be going through batteries often if left without the common at T-stat, Thanks
@qwikproduct
@qwikproduct 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. It does not require a common wire at the thermostat. It will not drain batteries because it is powered off the unit mains.

How does this tie into the heat strips in the event the come on in error? Will the blower have the ability to come in automatically when the heat strips are energized when using this board?
@qwikproduct
@qwikproduct 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. The QwikSwap will only turn on when the system calls for the fan to run.

@@qwikproduct So if there is a short in the system and the heat strips energize on their own there is no way for the fan to come on automatically as a safety?

My question here is why is there no thermistor on the OEM ECM module but a thermistor on the PCM motor ? It would seem to me that not having a thermistor would be less efficent since the thermistor is measring the actual freon temperature in the evaporator and adjusting motor speed based on the intrinsic environment it is cooling .. the OEM ECM looks like it is just ramping up pre programmed speeds but competeley out of touch with the actual environment .. These ECMs should have thermistor/sensors to detect the actual environment ..

The OEM Furnace board monitors the freon temp and adjusts the OEM ECM speed according to factory efficiencies. The OEM ECM motor is more efficient. This swap has merit IF customer system is down and replacement is delayed or the price for OEM is too high. However the PSC and Quick Swap will have less efficiency.

@@spotmark2 My 2010 vintage Rheem unit with a ECM 2.3 doesn't have any such freon temp monitors, so apparently the qwik swap board is meant to cover a wide range of products. I wonder if the temperature probe of the qwikswap is useless in my installation and can be left near the qwikswap circuit board/blower fan area? Even though my furnace is high eff., the 2 speed blower operation is disabled by the motherboard since my thermostat wiring doesn't have additional wires to accommodate a higher tech. thermostat. Thus, full speed to the blower in heat mode. Also, when in air conditioning mode, there is only 1 speed as well...so I don't know if I can even use a qwikswap board now that I think about it, without the ability to disable the qwikswap's high/medium/low blower speed changes, or bypass the evap. coil temperature monitoring feature altogether.

How resilient to power surges and brownouts is this board? I have ordered one so it will be interesting to see how well it works.
@qwikproduct
@qwikproduct 6 жыл бұрын
Each QwikSWAP board has transient surge suppression built into the boards absorb high voltage spikes on both the line voltage as well as communication lines going to our boards. The QwikSWAP X1 (QT6101) is not affected by brownouts. The QwikSEER (QT6000) and QwikSWAP V3 (QT6104) have brownout detection built into them and will reset within 3 seconds of a brown-out.

how much efficiency are you loosing from going from a x13 to a psc using the quickswap x3?

Of course you loose efficiency but in many cases home owner shouldn't pay $1000 to $2000 for an ECM motor, when the furnace are old.
