I am very picky and punctilious when it comes to music. I dissect production and lyrics and try to criticize work, but this album I have to say is my favorite album of the 2000 era. The old school sounding production and how he was able to put those opera samples in his music and make it enjoyable just blows my mind. Also how he is able to spit those fast vicious lyrics AND preform them too just baffles me. Very little albums get a 10/10 from me but this album definitely has that stamp of recommendation from me. (This is all opinion so feel free to criticize)

I blindly downloaded this album, and it came on when i was playing song i was high as hell. and i was either very intriged buy lyrics, and flow. emotional about specific messages. and laughing at his metaphors. overall it was very enjoyable it reminded me of early rhymesayers. most of the beats were smooth and flow was consistent, some of the instrumentals are eh. But i liked the album. very much, i am looking forward to future projects.

Anthony, I can't believe you give this album such a low rating. While I always think you give thoughtful reviews, and this review is definitely thoughtful , I can't disagree with your more about this album. While I do agree, some of his hooks are corny, I think the hooks fit with his funny lyrics and the corny beats are more intentional to fit with his flow and style, than simply a bad choose in music. Lyrically, no one has dropped a better album. I definitely give this album a strong 9. And, so far it is my album of the year. But, maybe I just like the disgusting funny stuff more than I should. However, as always, thanks for the thoughtful review.

I do agree to most of your points, and I don't consider it a flawless album myself, as not all of the songs were great in the aspect of beats and production, although nearly all of them were. His lyrics and flow is on top as always, and I would consider it a 9/10 in my opinion. Some of the beats and production was sloppy, but it is unfair to down weigh it to a 6/10, that just doesn't seem fair considering that all of the songs were great lyrically and the majority of the songs were great production-wise. Also, Tom Thum was one of the greatest and most original tracks with actual recordings of Tom Thum beatboxing. I don't understand how you can classify that track as corny, but hey, that's your opinion and it's respectable.

I absolutely LOVED this album. AT LEAST 9/10, but I think it's higher. He might be "Dated", but he has also been around for longer than most rappers that are being listened to these days. He stepped onto the scene in 1992, I believe, so he helped create a lot of the sound and ended up being stolen from him by mainstream media. Listen to the lyrics and you will hear him rap about that. In a song of his called "Lessons", he goes further into detail about it. I respect everyone's opinions though.

Man, so many words for one of the greatest albums ever released, just enjoy a true artist with a real message. You do realize he does not care about the beat, he says it himself "But I can rip any rapper with just a kick and a handclap". I do not consider myself a fanboy of anyone but a 6 makes me wonder if you give WuTang clan albums 6's as well.
