@@Pocoentertainmentstudio how did she twist it in her favor? If we believe what is said her husband on multiple occasions did a "prank" that intentionally cause emotional destress to the individuals he's "pranking". Not just on her either to others he knew. If these events happened how is she twisting the story in her favor? He's being a cruel person. Pranks are supposed to be fun for all involved in the prank. What he's doing is emotional munipulation for his own amusement. He has been told multiple time that it's not funny and to stop but continues. OP even gave an excuse as to why he might be doing these terrible "pranks" his father's death. I'm confused what is it that you heard that sounds like her twisting the story to her favor? NTA and his father's death doesn't explain his behavior. The fact that he pulled a prank faking a friend's death and lost almost 1/2 his old group of friends over it before his father's death tells us this man likes to derive pleasure from other people pain. Not sure why but that's a him issue and not an OP issue. He drove friends out of his life from his pranks and if he doesn't stop then he will drive his wife, OP away as well.

@@darkmask5933 I agree, and in fact it's not all that new. I remember a hidden camera show from the late 90s or thereabouts, featured an office intern who was tasked with babysitting a scale model that was to be used in a Very Important Presentation, which model had been carefully engineered to be EXTREMELY fragile. Needless to say, it broke and the guy was in a complete panic thinking about how much trouble he was in. And at the end, when someone called to 'check on' the model and finally spilled the beans, the dude literally burst into tears. All lovingly captured by the camera. Anyone who thinks dad in this situation is an AH needs to rethink. Good on him for making sure his wife was able to meet their child before anyone else. That’s a good dad and partner. I had a c-section with our first baby and our families didn’t come visit until the next morning so my husband and I got about 12 whole hours with baby by ourselves. With our second (born during Covid) my delivery was uncomplicated but only my husband was allowed at the hospital with me. Last Story: OP's family is AWFUL. It's terrible that his family feels entitled to hold the baby before the mother. It's bad enough that a bunch of people barge in on the parents hours after babies are born and keep them away from the parents so they can get pictures, but to do it while a parent is unconscious? Fuck that noise. When my twins were born, I barely got to hold them at all in the hospital. You know who missed out on bonding? Me. My husband. Not the freaking parade of family members that kept coming in and scooping one or both of my babies out of my arms. I was actually really glad that I got pregnant during the pandemic this time because I knew that I would actually get bonding time with my child this time around. The only person in the hospital with me was my husband, and we got to really interact and spend time with our son. Since we've left, the only people that have met my son in person are my father and his partner because they've been watching the twins during doctors appointments. I'm really glad that OP stood up for his wife when she could not. He did a great thing and his family needs to back off. They missed out on literally nothing.

Make this a tradition with your wife that you two are the only ones to see and hold your children after birth for x number of days. That last story : NTA in anyway shape or form , mother and sister however, big massive arseholes . OP did the right thing in not letting anyone else, apart from himself , hold the baby until his wife could . The mother and sister are being totally ridiculous . I was at the hospital when my daughter was in labour as support for her and my Son in law, and she ended up having a c-section due to complications . When the nurses brought my Grandson to my Son in law, while my daughter was still in surgery, my son in law offered for me to hold their son , but I refused to hold him until she could . As much as I would have loved to have that cuddle, I am a firm believer that parents should always be the first ones to hold their child . I did get my cuddle eventually after she held him and fed him for the first time, and I was more than happy just with watching my baby hold her baby, especially as we came close to losing them both .

story 1: I would have told the daughter that no that is not your grandmother, she is just the woman who raise her parent. She wants to be petty and lie to a 5 yr old, she can be called out on it. I would not have yelled or "caused a scene", just calmly stated this fact. Yelling at the wedding wasn't the best(was an *sshole move), but she did give incorrect information to a child she had NO business even talking to. The 5yr old never addressed MIL, she responded to her cousin. MIL was the one picking a fight by using the children. Slight ESH (mostly NTA) story 2: He is barely doing his job. Mummy dearest is making excuses for him/interfering with his work, and demanding access to information she has no right to? I would get a lawyer, file for a no contact order, and give him ONE final warning. Then; if any of the mentioned behaviours/incidents continue, he is gone. OP; it is not worth the stress. NTA story 3: These are NOT pranks; this is psychological ab*se. This "man" is sick and needs serious help. OP getting upset and the "reactions are priceless" comments are more than enough. OP; please get away from this person, make sure the dog is chipped and get a restraining order. This is NOT normal behaviour from a "loving partner". NTA story 4: OP did the right thing. Babies are not party favours to be passed around, and the mother SHOULD be the first person to hold HER newborn. I keep wondering if this took place in a culture where great emphasis is given to extended family, thus "explaining" the relatives' entitlement. The husband, however, is using sadistic humor which appeals only to sadists and he needs some kind of therapy if it’s only recently started happening. Maybe it’s linked to the father’s passing, but they have been married only a year. Maybe it’s his true nature.

OP did the right thing, and his mother and sister are horrible people.

Second story: Ugh, sounds like mommy dearest is horribly overbearing and a control freak and it's breaking down her son. If he wasn't improving I would fire him, but he is trying to improve. I think his biggest problem is his mother. OP should tell the boy's mother to get lost and stop interfering. If she doesn't back off, then OP would have no choice to drop her son because her interfering is causing problems. So, she either shuts up and butts out and her son keeps his job, or she keeps up her crap and son loses his job and the work environment can get back to normal. It's up to her because both she and her son are on a VERY thin line right now! So, if he gets canned, it's HER fault! If she could possibly back off, it might give him breathing room and he might improve even more. Last story: Babies bond with those who are in first contact with them. A baby's strongest bond should be with the parents, it's really important. OP was right not to have any one else hold the baby until his wife was well enough to. It was only 4 days, that's no reason for his mother and sister to pitch a fit over it. I believe the baby should just be with the parents for the first few days anyway. To have that private quiet time alone with their new little baby. If the parents let you hold their baby, it's a privilege, not a right. Doesn't matter if you're the grandmother or aunt to the child. You have no right to that baby unless the parents are alright with it.

I had a c-section 40 years ago. Things were done differently then, and when I finally woke up, my parents and husband had all held my baby. I wasn't allowed to hold him until I had seen the consultant, and had to watch while other people held and fed my baby. It was heart breaking, so yes I agree with Op. It took weeks to form a bond with my son, because I felt like I didn't deserve him. Mother and sister need to do one. Not their baby, not their decision.

1: The nephew isn't that knowledgeable since the one saying that wasn't her grandmother was right. There was no excuse for running after some creating a screaming fit for no reason. OP is a drama queen that has to make a scene and draw attention to herself in multiple situations. Weddings seem to be her time to attack others. 2: It isn't really just the mother. She admits his actions are worth firing for and his letting mommy have full access to his business account he has breached confidentiality for the company which was caught thanks to the mother making it obvious. His inability to follow such basic rules makes it not about the abuse from the mother. He can't handle working and probably had mommy doing his work for him. 3: They aren't pranks. They are emotional abuse. He got so mad for being called out for his abuse his face turned red in anger. His good memories are breaking her. He isn't processing grief. He's lashing out to hurt her because "haha you hurt too". Forget just leaving him at the vet, leave him on the streets with divorce papers on his own. He wants everyone to hurt too so he feels normal. He needs therapy and zero contact with her or the dog. 4: The grandmother and aunt need to get over their concept of being more important than the mother. They didn't need to meet the baby yet. That was the mother's wish - to reduce contact to nurses and the father until she recovered enough, no matter how long it took. 8t could have turned into weeks before she was well enough with daddy on his own at home, but hey, no problem for mommy who wasn't conscious nor had any clue how long that would keep daddy on his own with a new born. There was a risk she would never hold him. So while the family had no room to demand access before mommy, knowing there was no way you know how bad it would get or for how long, setting him up to be the solo parent while waiting for her to recover was short sighted. They got lucky it was just a few days.

I had an emergency c section under a general anaesthetic when giving birth to my first child. I had laboured for over 32 hours beforehand and both baby and I were brushing up against death when we went into surgery. My daughter was born 9 minutes after I had left the delivery room and thankfully once born stabilised quickly even though she was a month early. They took her out to meet her dad once she was stable, my mum was with him but refused to hold the baby as it didn’t feel right to her. He dad held her for about 10 minutes and then they took her back to continue to monitor her etc. Now I don’t do well with general anaesthetic at the best of times and this was far from the best. I finally came to over 5 hours later and saw a midwife sitting at the end of my bed feeding my baby. I have never gotten over the sight and my daughter will be 16 in a couple of months. It is burned into my brain and as a result I became very possessive about feeding my daughter, I would have been a bit like that anyway I think as I wasn’t allowed to breastfeed for medical reasons and I know I still feel a resentment about that (especially as under the care of different doctors in a different hospital I was able to breastfeed my younger son for 2.5 years before naturally weening - thank you to the J. R and boo hiss to Liverpool woman’s!) but that image burned into my retinas and the feelings it gave me really drove my possessiveness, particularly about feeding, it took months before I could let my ex husband feed her and absolutely nobody else fed her for the first six months and even then only my mil if she was babysitting (which almost never happened). So yeah, in that last story he isn’t an asshole he is a hero!

Title Story: I think OP was right to fire the kid. It ultimately will be a good lesson for the kid that there are some things you can't come back from and eventually you run out of chances. Sometimes people who work with teenagers can be too supportive and give them too many chances but that's not how the real world works. It's better for him to get fired from this afterschool job and learn that he can't get away with falsifying timesheets rather than being given infinite chances to improve taking that attitude with him into his adult life.

My dad told me I wasn't allowed to hold my oldest brother because it could upset my step mother, as it's common for new mothers to want to hold their babies before anybody else. I understood and was just exited about my first brother/new sibling, I also knew I would be able to hold him eventually. I was also told, but I don't remember by whom, my mother went through the same thing with my sister's and I. The only time I've had a problem with holding/not holding a baby was when I was given my second brother on the first day I got to meet him. At first it was a normal hold but ended with me holding him for an hour or so while my dad and step mother did their best to control my older brother and figure out how they were going to feed my younger brother. This was at most 2 days after giving birth and the nurses refused to help because my step mother wasn't able to breastfeed her son. I walk away with this. When a mother has given birth but priorities with both hospital staff and family should be the baby and the mental and physical recovery of the mother. If helping the mother recover means no one can hold the baby before she does *other than hubby*, then so be it.

Story 1: The kid should have been fired for overbilling and security breaches (his mom being on the system). OP might have felt bad, but he was putting the company in danger from these people by not handling it sooner. And as for the kid, he needs to learn to stand up for himself. Many people have said they will not hire those with interfering families. So, he's in for a world of economic hurt if he doesn't improve his work ethic and keeps his mom out of his work life. That said, it is not OP's job to teach that. His colleagues and clients should not be suffering under an ineffective, lazy, aggressive employee. Story 3: That husband is an utter prat! Any time someone purposefully upsets someone else, it is NOT a joke. It's only a joke if both people are laughing at the end. Honestly, after multiple "pranks," the thing with the dog is absolutely unacceptable. It's entirely possible I would have punched/slap the prick for what he did. A divorce lawyer would be my next call. Actually, I already would have divorced him for his previous behavior. Joking about someone dying is also a major dick move.
