The story one update was golden. The wife coming out by just offhandedly mentioning taking a soccer ball to her balls was hilarious. It reminds me of the one story where the guy said his husband's blood didn't run through him, but his semen did.

Story 3: why didn't they just make the kid turn the hoodie inside out? That's what our school did. It was either that, or they made us change into our gym clothes or put duct tap over the logo
@mintcoral

Honestly everyone is on op about being a jerk for sending the kid away, but I wanna know what happened in the reflection room. The kid doesn't seem to think his shirt was inappropriate so I wonder if maybe the kid refused to change or turn the hoodie inside out. I've seen it happen at my old school. Students refusing to do something and it escalates past what the teacher thought it would. Our school did whole turn clothes inside out till students would do it for a period then turn it back once they left that class. So the choices then turned to wear your gym clothes, were a shirt provided by the school, or go home and change. If you came in in a bus you sat in the in-school suspension room till the end of the day, but I like inschool suspension they teachers didn't let you make up the work.

Had a classmate wear a shirt wear a shirt that said, "Tell your mother i said thanks." Somehow he made it through to afternoon Chemistry without anyone saying anything. The Chemistry teacher was not having it and had him cover it up or go to the office. He ended up borrowing a lovely, lilac hoodie from one of the girls in class. It's burned into my memory to this day.

Story 4: The way he said that he can't buy anything big without her permission or he'd "be in trouble" gives me the vibe that they are seriously not on the same page. Regardless of who is in the wrong or whose fault the lack of communication is, if they had proper communication he could have given the reasons that his wife would be upset with him. He just says he'd be in trouble though, like a child who doesn't quite understand the rules adults set for them. Tbf though, I could very well be overreaching and he wrote that to save wordcount hoping that the reasons she'd be upset are implicit. It stood out to me though, mainly because I've heard that language used in a toxic way before.

First story: NTA Fertility issues are not one and the same and anything can cause them. It’s not Op’s fault that that’s the truth neither is it his fault his parents are/were obsessed with biological children. Second story: NTA You want someone’s services then you accept their preferred price. Real family/friends/family-friends would pay you what you deserve, not what is most convenient. Always value yourself and your hard work. Third story: NAH The teachers have to call out clothes that the school board/other parents would call inappropriate. Teachers could get more in trouble if it’s not called out. The kid shouldn’t have talked back, but he’s a teen and probably didn’t realize why the teacher is getting onto him. The school however sucks ass for giving a suspension for this; it’s not the teacher’s fault that they do though. Also, I’m not condoning the dress code. I think some policies are dumb and the consequences worse. Fourth story: YTA The Op sounds high or entitled. You don’t get to act like you, solely, own anything bought with money from a joint account, even if you then sell those things later on. You want something just for you buy it using money from a personal account.

Story 3 I get it that its BS that the kid got suspended but from the sound of it all the Teacher did was send him to essentially the Principal's office. It was the admin side of the school that dropped the ball here, so I don't think OP should get all the blame on this. That being said yeah is the shirt tacky & probably not school appropriate sure, but I think that like the one commenter said, a warning should be given at the very least before any action was taken.

I think in the first story while the OP was telling the truth and didn't do anything wrong I can kind of see why his sister was upset. When a person transitions with regards to things like surgery they more or less have to accept the reality if what that means regarding current technology which includes infertility--and no way to treat it. For OP's sister she's going through treatments, side effects, not to mention the pain--physical and emotional of miscarriages. So I think she might have felt like either he was being flippant or had no idea how much fertility issues can cause pain.

Story 1: NTA - I have fertility issues, my family have fertility issues. And so does OP and his wife. Yeah, it's not due to the same reason, but they still can't get pregnant. That's pretty much the definition of it. Also, what choice did OP make? The only people who made any choices were his sister and her partner - nobody forced them to go down the route of paying for treatment and trying for a baby. Yeah, it's an AWFUL situation for his sister, but still. That's not fair to attack someone like that. Update: That was the best update I have ever read, as well as the best coming out story I've heard too. Story 2: NTA - Dear Family Friends don't get discounts - and I'm guessing that it's frustration that's why he calls the son dumb. And that woman is entitled. And the mum is shallow af - it's just social standing to her. Story 3: UNPOPULAR OPINION. NTA. And one big reason why; the teacher did not issue the suspension. They essentially sent the child to the principal's office for it, and the admin/year head/whoever decided to issue a suspension. Yes, the suspension is way overkill if it was just the hoody situation, but I'm wondering if the kid kicked off and that's what escalated it. Anyway, yeah. Hoody should have been a warning not suspension. My school banned any slogans and graphics on clothing on non-uni day to avoid any issues of 'is it, isn't it' regarding offensive/inappropriate attire. As you've said, a lot of my teacher friends and family friends talk about how it's utterly ridiculous but there are things they HAVE to address/confront because if another parent complains it has an impact on the school/teacher (also UK). Story 4: ESH - OP used the joint account, the profit belongs to the joint account (bar the $2k of it which was from his account). The wife sounds like she's controlling his purchases though as well. And they are BOTH acting like children and are being extremely petty. Marriage isn't a business arrangement, at least not anymore. So they both suck.

Story 1 - TBH, I think OP was in a no-win situation there: Say "fertility issues", sister thinks he's directly talking about her and ends up hurt. Say "Better for the world", sis thinks he's having a go at her choice to go for in-vitro and ends up hurt. I'd say it's more of a NAH, tbh, but maybe he should've asked the sis first if it was okay to say what he did. At least it worked out. Story 2 - OP did nothing wrong, end of discussion. I know from personal experience that tutoring is not easy even in the best of circumstances, let along with a kid who has zero interest in getting better, but to have someone go over your head and offer your services for considerably less than your normal rate, just because SHE wants to look good? Fuck that noise, and I have to wonder if she was getting the extra money behind OP's back. Story 3 - "Facepalm" OP is a major asshole. In my former school (And yes, UK), so long as the clothing in question is not offensive (ie swearing, slurs, inappropriate imagery, etc) and won't get them or anyone else hurt (such as wearing something with long ribbons in an area with machinery), it wasn't a problem. Hell, even the secondary school I studied at, which had a uniform, wasn't that fucking strict - so long as we met the basic requirements (black shoes, black pants/skirt, white shirt, tie and school blazer/jumper), we could do whatever the hell we wanted so long as, again, it wasn't offensive. Story 4 - These two are both petty idiots, but while I'd say ESH, the OP is the bigger AH of the two of them for using joint money but then acting like he deserves it all.

I have to disagree with you on Story 2. This subreddit is not called AmIRight. He was seriously underpaid, no question about that, but the way he behaved towards the son, calling him dumb etc, makes him.a huge asshole for the arrogance. Physics is *hard* for many people so to assume you can grasp the subject simply by putting effort in is wrong. And not understandimg physics as a Subject doesn't make you dumb..He sounds like a bad teacher for Students the boy's age. 25 as his normal rate suggests he's usually tutoring adults who already have a college Level of understanding of the matter and just need some help. If he seems unable to grasp the needs to treat the boy differently than that and start at a more basic level, then that's also on him. He asked if he was the Asshole, so yes, an asshole he is for his whole approach from Start to finish, even if he is rightly angry for being underpaid. ESH for Story 2.

(PS: She could adopt, instead of spending several years of college tuition on something so selfish as IVF.) 2: NTA. OP deserves to be paid fairly for their time and effort. 3: ESH. Kid sucks for wearing a clearly inappropriate shirt. OP sucks for sending him to the principal. Principal sucks for suspending the student. And the parent sucks for defending the shirt. A reasonable course of action would be to send him to the lav to turn the shirt inside out, and tell him not to wear it to school again. 4: YTA. The teacher one, I feel like the teacher could have just asked the boy to turn the hoody wrong side out. Maybe they didn't think of that at the moment. But I don't think it is specifically the teacher that sucks here. They sent the kid to be dealt with through the proper channels. For the last story, the only so called problem is that the man should replace the 2k he took from the joint account. Everything else is his, and the fact that a grown man has to ask for permission to buy anything using money from his personal account is mind blowing. The wife is absolutely the AH for taking the same amount from the joint account in retaliation and she should replace it immediately. If not I would not contribute another dime until that money is replaced, she basically stole from her husband. Because it distracts their male peers? Bullcrap! They should mind their own business and stop sexualizing every single part of a female's body! FFS! Heck, one time in 6th grade I got dress coded for my shorts! Why? Because my middle finger BARELY passed the bottoms, like not even a centimeter! It was humiliating! And it also didn't help the fact that I was already alienated by my peers! People need to grow the frick up! #BanDressCodes

Story 2: Wonderful example why you avoid family and friends as clients in any way possible. Story 3: Gotta say this whole drama over a hoodie is stupid and unnecessary in my opinion. Unnecessary to wear it to school and equally as unnecessary to give this guy an in-school suspension as well as a 3 day suspension which also includes online classes, this smells like punishment for the sake of punishment, especially since there was nothing else beforehand as OP said typical high school student, nothing out of the ordinary. Gotta side with the kid on the issue though, we all love them. Story 4: Sounds like completely seperate finances are in order here and in my opinion the wife massively overstepped here by just taking the money while OP was always open and honest about every purchase. Where I disagree with Mark is that the initial $1000 came from his own account and the wife didn't accept the car, so technically it was still his car and he could sell it and keep the money if he wanted. I don't see where the redditors get their "We purchased ..." stuff get from as he always seems to ask his wife even though he uses his own money, at least that's how I understood it here.

Story 4: Sounds like finances are an issue with both parties here, OP thinks he should be allowed to spend more because he makes more, he contributes more to the partnership, whereas wife sounds controlling about money and wants him to spend less so she can spend more. Question though, does the wife wants to spend more than her fair share, or thinks both should be able to spend 50% of their joined fun money? Honestly money is very much one of those things that can destroy a marriage, if the OP thinks he should control the money just because he makes more but they are supposed to be married, then that is financial abuse, but if wife is trying to spend more than her fair share and is upset if OP spends money to lessen what she can spend, then she sounds like a gold digger. I am frankly leaning towards the former, because it sounds like OP is trying very, very hard to find some way to justify having more money than his wife for some reason, that or he just wants to be able to spend his money as he sees fit on his fun stuff and resents having to have reduced reward because his wife makes less than him? Honestly, sounds like the two might want to see if they can afford a financial advisor, sounds like OP may not be totally financially abusive but it does sound like he may have underlying resentment about having to combine finances. If they don't resolve this, its going to end up with animosity.

I agree that the 3 day is overkill and inappropriate, but the teacher isn't the one who gave the kid the suspension. She sent him to the reflection room. Last story: I think the wife probably felt that the husband was bad with money because it sounds really risky to keep buying high-dollar items in the hopes that it will sell for a profit. The fact that the husband bought an old jaguar without asking his wife really clinches it - jaguars are notorious for consistently needing expensive repairs, so that plus the fact that he didn't discuss the large purchase that was supposed to be a gift for her means this guy is inconsiderate at best. I would actually bet money that this guy has made some poor investment choices and he purposefully left them out of this story to make it seem like he's a genius flipper.

Suspending a kid for a hoodie that says “I ❤️ Hot Moms”? He shouldn’t of even went to in school suspension just give him a different shirt. No one but this teacher seem to be the only one causing a distraction in class because of the hoodie. In school if something inappropriate was on clothing they would give us masking tape to put over it. 3 day suspension leave him behind in work. My son was punched last week & they didn’t even give that kid in school suspension. My friends in other districts say getting a kid suspend(out or in school)punished or even moved out of their class due to issues but a hoodie will. I guess the only plus is that for once it is a male getting suspended for a ridiculous clothing reason instead of a female for leggings

If it said i heart Satan, or I heart myself, or something just as silly, would it be considered explicit? I saying PG-13 at best. Probably PG in our society.
