@@mk_gamíng0609 my guess is it's not a charge for the pints, but a balance between enough to be worth stealing a bit from most who come, and small enough most won't bother bringing it back up by the time they've noticed. Anyways, the specific doesn't matter, because she claims it didn't go through the first time anyways, so either 1) it did go through and it was purposely much cheaper for some reason and she lied about it, 2) it charged a random $2.80 purchase for 2 pints and the bartender lied about it succeeding, or 3) the second time OP used their phone to buy pints, it randomly added another $2.80 purchase and re-charged that card fast enough for it to appear as a single purchase, and it truly failed the first time. The thing that really tips the scale to NTA for me with the bowling story is that OP made an attempt to rectify the situation EXACTLY as the manager suggested. He asked the girl behind the counter to give him an item worth roughly the £2.85 and call it square. She told him that she wouldn't do that and that he had to see a manager. She said that one would be over and then neglected to send one. Only then did OP create a situation that warrants a manager to intervene. I bet that it's a scam like Mark outlined. She makes a small transaction that she's adding to the system as a tip out to her, then rushing back all flustered to tell the customer that they didn't actually pay. She's hoping that in this case she can either wait it out and he'll forget to rectify it, or she can get him removed so that he can't come back to question it for future visits. I have an inkling that the Security guard-cum-manager doesn't really have that kind of authority either.

In these cases the payment would be pending until the shop confirms the transaction at the end of the day allowing the money to be moved, if this does not take place it will be returned to the bank account. But the moment they went outside with the drinks they obviously weren't stealing, the manager was suddenly free and available to hunt them down and ban OP from reentering. Honestly I'd say NTA because they clearly weren't stealing their drinks, never did anything to reduce the worker to tears, and the whole thing reeks of a collaborative effort between the worker and manager to skim small amounts from many people, since most people would likely not even bother trying to fix the charge or to dispute it at their bank.

Bowling story is a NTA for me. Going outside with drinks where it's not allowed is not okay, but it doesn't push OP into AH territory for me. But the transaction being wrong should be a priority for the people working there, and the cashier should've made more of an effort to get the manager to help OP, and manager should've showed up. They could be understaffed, but again... priority to correct things. It's alarming that people accept random transactions on their card as "service charge" when that hasn't been advertised. I would be pissed off if I saw this and a lot more agitated than OP. Though, I would've called my bank in front of the cashier and told the bank about a fraudulent charge that they've not provided a reciept for, and refuse to give back. That'd surely have them working harder to give the money back. I've worked in banking and you should always be mindful of small charges on your account, and call your bank immediately. It can be tedious and I get why you'd like to avoid it but....

Story 1: About the cake problem at the wedding. In premarital counseling, I told couples that something almost always goes wrong at a wedding. Just roll with the punches. It will make the wedding more memorable and give the people there something to talk about in the future. I also warn them that about 40% of the time one or both of them will get sick on the honeymoon. Think of it as a test of the vows “in sickness and in health.”

Story 2: OP uses headphones for her meetings to help block out noise. The husband is annoyed at her for annoying him when he chooses to be in the room next to her workspace (literally annoyed at her voice? Tf?). How about instead of wanting to guilt her into doing something she is uncomfortable doing, OP’s husband gets a pair of headphones to listen to music, go to another room or leave the house entirely for the duration of her meetings? The guy is toxic

The realization of him hating the “noise” is heartbreaking. He hates her voice so much that he bitches and moans and insults her over it.

Last story..NTA I recently got sick from a similar terrible cold that would only get worse for 3 weeks. My sister flew two thousand kilometers just to come look after me, make me soup and be a support system to lean on when I was week. She got sick and then I did the same for her (luckily she was well in just a few days). That's how people show support and care and it's the absolutely basic requirement for a relationship.

If someone had an animal that was in the habit of attacking and injuring people, you wouldn't say "That's just how Kujo is" and let it keep attacking you, right? Do why would you put up with being attacked and hurt by a person that *chooses* to hurt you?

For the first story, this is so similar to my life it's shocking. But I found out early that even when my sister and I "reconciled" after realizing my mom was always meddling.... It didn't take long for her to go back to her old ways.. and an entire year later I learned that from the beginning of the said reconciliation she was feeding my mom information and meddling but now two against one. I hope that she cuts contact with at least one of them.

Be the bigger person should be don’t stoop to their level. But as reviewer said; its become a weapon to use against the victim, don’t bring attention to the abuse; because then we have to accept our own culpability and complacency. She stressed about moving?! Seriously high risk pregnancy trumps moving stress. Tell your husband to get a job or wear headphones to block the noise. And since he doesn’t have a job, he can clean if he’s unhappy

Not a cake mishap but a memory bowl mishap. My husband and I were both in the party of one of our best friends in our tight knit group. we’ve all known each other since 2nd grade, some of us since kindergarten (6 years old) The bride had a memory bowl with a candle that was supposed to hold the candle, some fake flowers and greens, and a picture of her grandfather. So my (then boyfriend, now husband) and the best man (his best friend josh) were helping set up in the church while I (maid of honor) am helping the bride get ready. Apparently josh didn’t realize that the glass had been packed loose from the candle, and so when he went to pick up the candle CRASH went the glass bowl all over the parking lot. My husband described the sense of dread that they both felt looking at each other, and they very quickly went to my husbands car and started driving to hobby lobby to grab another glass bowl. Mind you they’re both in full tuxedoes. They run in and grab a bowl that looked basically identical and run to the checkout with it. The cashier asks why they’re dressed up and when they say they’re going to a wedding and the memory bowl shattered she says ‘omg congratulations!’ Thinking it was them getting married. Josh, being josh, doesn’t miss a beat and grins. “Thanks! Hopefully butterfingers here won’t drop the ring either!’ And gave my husband a big air kiss which likely turned him bright red They left and returned to the wedding with no one the wiser until after the ceremony was finished. Brian told me aaaaaall about it 😂 they still joke around about being fake married lmao

Our cake melted before the ceremony even started. Luckily, the photographer and MOH (both besties of my wife) were made aware of it when a five year old decided to lick it and then alert them. They saved the cake, and got some adorable pictures of the kid trying to get more frosting while the venues staff tried desperately to get it into the fridge without it collapsing 😂

They should Respect Her choice of blocking a Toxic family member. They probably already Know she's like that and became de- sensitized to the situation. Appearances don't mean nothing at that point.

story 1: Not their wedding, not their decision. If they put the "If you don't invite her we won't being coming either". Just say, "Oh well more food for everyone else then", and smile. Go LC and let them make the REAL first move, by apologising. This toxic environment isn't good for the kids or OP. They are showing their true colours and favouritism. NTA story 2: He can't bring his girlfriend over if OP works from home. Or he doesn't want OP to see him playing games/watching videos all day. If he doesn't like the noise, he could get a job outside the home. NTA story 4 : I bet he is one of those who expects the world to stop when he's sick. My father used to do this. My mum had to "get your lazy *ss out of bed" when she had a fever of 104F, and go out for a walk with him. She was then expected to make lunch, and dinner after. If he was sick, everyone had to leave him alone and be quiet. This 'husband' won't die from a couple nights on the couch. OP will take longer to heal without proper rest. He is only worried about his health and happiness. So selfish! NTA

1. NTA. Sometimes parents/family don't completely understand how a toxic sibling can affect you. I went no-contact with one of my older brothers and I am slightly in contact with the other. We talk but it's rare. However, my dad doesn't fully understand why. Both of my brothers made my life hell when we were kids but my dad just saw it as sibling rivalry and would tell me to just ignore it. On top of that, I was being bullied at school so I had no safe place to go to get away from the stressors in my life.

Story 4 = NTA. Husband is TA though. You take care of your SO no matter what. It makes me wonder if OP's husband cares about her. Is this a one time thing or something that happens a lot? If the first then just sleep in your bed and let him have the consequences. If this happens a lot then consider if you really want this man in your life.
