Cancer vs baby announcement - the SIL is insane and whiney and needs a reality check. Also - did anyone point out it was a little bit crappy of the brother to jump the line and ask to go first at something that OP had set up? Sure say we have news too mind if we also pop some news or whatever but asking to go first is kinda douchie imo.

I got through most of it until he started choking up reading the last bit then I lost it ... I tend to get less upset usually, only because I've cried through loss so much in the past 14 years that I just didn't think i had any tears left. I lost my dad on July of 07, my papa in March of 08 and my in laws passed away 8 months apart 7 years ago then lost mama and nana the last 4 I helped take care of 24/7 for years before they passed and was right by their side when they passed. Lost two more ppl in the past year. Idk if I'll ever get to the point where I can properly deal with death cuz I haven't really processed fully the sudden passing of dad and papa much less any of the rest of those I love. It is rough and hearing this really hit me hard. Yeah, definitely sniffling! But, well, she’s living on through the post! I only just heard it for the first time and it’s like she, a random stranger, is here with us all through her words. In a way, that’s less sad and maybe bittersweet, I guess? We get one life. Live it well. Humans survived the way we have because we learned from the young, the elderly, and developed ways of learning from those who came before. I say, take her words as a lesson, learn from it to be with the people who make you happy, do fun things (no matter how small - can’t afford the everglades? Dance in your room like an idiot to upbeat music instead!), snuggle your pets, talk to the people you’re in minor conflicts with (so long as it’s not an abuse/dangerous/bad situation) to see what can be resolved, and live life to the fullest of your ability. Without learning from those who came before, like this OP, we lose a lot. Those who are dying have a different way of thinking that prioritizes things differently... and it’ll be worth it to try to start thinking like that more often now... instead of in our own final moments. Don’t wanna be out here leaving “Dear Reddit, I regret 90% of my life” posts when you’re gone, you’d wanna be able to leave “Dear Reddit, I’m in a better place and had a great life” posts instead, right? I’m not as sad as I thought I’d be after hearing that. If there is an afterlife or a way for the dead to be aware of us now, hope OP knows she’s inspiring me to live better.

I can't imagine asking a woman, in the presence of her HUSBAND and witnesses (!) to testify to the quality of my sexual skills. "Kiss and tell" is rude and "* and tell" is immensely worse. There is simply NOTHING you could have done to Jack (including stabbing) that he didn't richly deserve. Your response was spot on what he was asking for. I am a 60+ year old male who has had some experience. I ask if there is something in particular the Lady would like, do the best I can, accept instructions happily, and NEVER ask for a critique. If she comes back for more, then THAT is my testimonial. And it is between the two of us, PERIOD. Jack is a Jack Ass and deserves worse than he got.

Actually, it is not specifically anti-gay so much as anti-licentiousness (not necessarily gay licentiousness) and also anti-materialism. The people who were punished were greedy and lustful. When I read it, that is the way it came across to me. To me it is a story about not behaving with licentiousness and not being overly materialistic (people who love money too much).

Until you actually listen to how hateful the preaching is, everyone outside of your specific religion will be destroyed simply because they don't believe in your brand of Christianity. Sadly, this is common in almost every single religion in existence. All think they are the one true religion, they are the only ones who "god" loved, accepts and will "save" in the "end of the system of things". Religion breeds hate, ignorance, racism, sexism, a huge since of entitlement and creates an egotistical personality. While yes, in general ppl who are religious can be kind and believe themselves to be caring and loving humans there is so much that is horrifically negative in all religion that it truly is sad. You may not realize it but those who believe in religion esp Christianity have an extremely dangerous and harmful view of women, children, those who believe and those who live their lives in any way the religion teaches is "sinful" even when those choices or just their lives are not harming anyone. I was born into one of the extremist Christian religions and through leaving that and researching , really researching not just looking into, other religions i have seen that this is one of the most common similarities in each religion. It is sad that a book was written with the intent, it seems the original intent was to keep the masses under a structure that would create a more peaceful and more cooperative general public, the thing is it actually had served throughout history to create more hate than love, war, hurtful behaviors and thoughts towards those who don't share your brand of beliefs. It has caused pain, death and destruction in the name of pleasing an invisible entity who, if the Bible is correct, can be summed up in this manner. God created angels, God created earth, God made a bet with an angel, God loses bet, God takes his anger and hurt ego out on the humans he had not even equipped to win the bet in the first place, ie the Bible states that sin was an unknown concept until AFTER eve ate the apple and they did not even realize they were naked until after the fact, how is that a fare bet or the humans downfall? Seems like the creator failed in this scenario. If you built a robot and didn't design the robot to not kill humans and did not put a failsafe in place where nobody else could program the robot to kill humans then the failure would not be the robots fault it would be yours. Humans are much more important than metal and electronics and it seems pretty crappy to create something then blame it and make it suffer for your own failures.

@@kirstenornelas881 I'm thinking of starting an offshoot of christianity that focuses on being compassionate, whether that's directed at lgbt, agnostic, or even people of other religions, my god is one of forgiveness, tolerance, and unconditional love, because let's be real, if we all are as God intended us to be, how can he condemn someone that is a good person, if he's all knowing, then he knows/knew that someone is a homosexual My point being that Christianity and Catholicism have allowed evil sentiments toward those who are others, and I don't think that's what it's really supposed to stand for, at least this is my current spiritual state

@@everymoviehero9248 I can understand why you would want to do this and think it is a pretty amazing thing to do. Sadly, I lost all faith through my experiences I cannot logically make the Bible make since. Many stories are so unbelievably impossible it is crazy and to think I actually believed them to be real at one point truly is embarrassing to be honest. I know many believe and that's ok too but what I see when I read the Bible was the hate, unloving illogical actions taken by those claiming to be pleasing to God or claiming to have done whatever action in the name of God. Things such as the flood, which was basically Armageddon if you really think about it. Yes, it might have been before the promise of Armageddon was made but why would God have needed a second Armageddon? He had just performed a do over if you logically look at it, he destroyed everyone outside of his "true followers" and the sick part is it is said that babies drown for their parents sin. What kind of loving God kills innocent babies for their parents sin? That never felt right for me. The story about the village that God supposedly told his ppl to go destroy it was so specific, leave nothing alive "kill even the children, the infants, the newborns, the animals and only keep for yourselves the women and Virgin female children" how sick is that?! Reading that story made my stomach churn as those around me celebrated the fact that these "true believers" had wiped out an entire group of ppl. I cannot imagine that being a loving way for a creator to be. Also, the entire Bible and theory of a God is based on this being true , God created angels, God creates earth and man, God makes a bet (which we are told in the Bible betting us a sin) with an angel and loses that bet. Then God blamed the two humans who, the Bible states right away did not even know what sin was until AFTER the bet was lost and they ate the fruit. So how on earth was a bet between an angel who did understand what sin and manipulation is and two humans who basically had an toddlers understanding of the life they now had and had no understanding of what lies, sin and bad actually is fair? How does that logic work? Honestly, like I told my mother after leaving the religion I was born into, I live my life to be a decent, kind and loving human because I want to be that way. I want to live to help those around me and be a good person because that's right. Not because I can win some prize at the end or am afraid of some punishment if I don't. Living for prize vs punishment isn't real, it isn't true or real. You're living for selfish reasons at that point and I refuse to live to a selfish gain or selfish fear of punishment. I truly believe the Bible and religion is toxic and evil and if you really read all of the Bible, not just cherry pick a scripture here and there to fit a specific rhetoric, but instead read things in context.... it is actually very obvious the hate, sexism, prejudices and selfishness being pushed for "true followers" to agree with and live by. It is truly disgusting when you actually read these things in context using logic and reasoning. Sorry for going on a rant, just wanted to share my thoughts and get your feelings and thoughts I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings or upset you in any way and like I said I appreciate that you want to create a religion that isn't this way but I do feel that as long as religion includes the Bible, it is still relying on these basic hateful views and teachings. The ego alone in every religion claiming to be the only true religion feels awkward and wrong. Anyways, thank you for reading my thoughts and I do wish the best for you in your endeavor and hope you succeed. You seem like a very kind person.

That is a very good solution. Doing a Viking funeral is not all that hard. You work out a deal with one of the cremains disposal-at-sea boats to tow a small flammable boat with the deceased in it out past the 3 mile limit. Do the blot (Scandinavian religious ceremony) and then toss a torch into the fire boat and cut the tow rope. All done. No fuss, no cleanup, but stay up wind because there is a ton of smoke and aroma. I presume you are not strangling any young women to accompany him to Valhalla or Vanaheim. You aren't, are you? A Wiccan Church in California had a member who wanted his ashes dispersed into a forest. So they arranged for a boat captain to swear he took his boat 8 miles from the coast and dispersed the ashes. The only detail is that the boat was being towed behind a pick-up in a forest 8 miles INLAND from the coast. I guess that is the crafty part of Witchcraft. In my experience the drinks are good at lots, but the food is a smidge better at Wiccan and Hindu events. I confess that I find the animal slaughter at Santeria events to be a bit off putting and the food to hotly spiced for me, but the drinks and music are great (I hate the cigars). If you are friendly and adventurous, I recommend attending all the foregoing. Polytheists think you can't have too many friends in very high places.

How you are treated by me solely depends on how you treat me and mine-period! My children had many friends stay at our house in times of need (family trouble-unaccepting parents) and they knew I had an open door policy. It be one thing if the mom was allergic or the dog was not trained to be around people or behave. But trying to strongarm a good dog out of not even your own house is too far. I myself have friends that have/had big dogs even my grandparents have had big dogs. They are the sweetest things I ever met. Personally it’s the little dogs that are bad. I myself have had a dog and she was great and I felt horrible whenever I had to leave her at a dog sitters when we had to leave state or town.

Even if the mum had an allergy, the answer would be for her to stay in a hotel. Letting someone stay in your home is doing them a favour. It's overstepping for them to invite themselves and it's double overstepping for them to make conditions on the favour they have asked for. The mother is asking them to save her the cost of a hotel while given them the unnecessary cost of boarding for the dog. I have friend that I can only see outside of my home because he is allergic to dogs and I have 2 huskies. You would have to deep clean everything including carpets and curtains to make a home safe for an allergy sufferer for a 2 week stay.

I can kind of understand both sides in the story about the friend wanting to be a writer. If only because I want to be a writer and I know how critical people can be when you tell them that. I, unlike her friend, have won a few competitions for writing and I've received pretty good feedback on my stories so far. OP is definitely NTA there because writers need to know how to take criticism on their work. I've actually had my sisters and teachers help me with my writing because I know that my sisters at least won't hold back with their criticism. If something about it sucks, they'll tell me, and I think that's actually really helpful. If that friend can't take the criticism on her work now, I doubt she'll be able to actually make it as a writer. She might be able to self publish her work but I doubt it'll become her full time career.

^ This. Plus, as sad as it is, and like everything else in the art/creative world, the fact that you've won writing awards means nothing. Most writers have won awards. Talent means very little, the only thing that matters to publishers is marketability. Even the New Yorl Times bestsellers list is 100% phony; much like the Oscars, it is wholly made up. The people making the list decide who gets to be on it, not the actual numbers of books sold at any given time. And again, much like the rest of the art world, it's not how good you are, or what you know. It's all about WHO you know. Without blatant nepotism, it is nearly impossible to get anywhere as a professional writer. Not to say you shouldn't try, only that you should have a backup career at the ready and work on your novel/manuscript/play/etc in your off time until you can get established. Otherwise, I promise you, you will suffer for it.

When I was 18, I bought my boyfriend home to meet my mum. She hated him. He was a struggling student with divorced parents. He was scruffy, smoked and lacked the refined social skills that she preferred. He played rugby, drove a beat up car and was dragging me down to his level. My sister, on the other hand, had more genteel taste. Her boyfriends were from well off, well educated, world travelling backgrounds. They were artists and urbane in manner and tastes. As far as my mum was concerned, they were perfect. 30 years on, I am happily married to that boy. He kind and loving and faithful. He has a successful career, is liked and respected and very well paid. I have also enjoyed great success (though much less money). We have a great relationship with our grown up child, own our home outright and are even in the position to retire early if we with. We have travelled extensively and have a loyal social group. My sister has never married, enjoyed a long term relationship or had kids. She has a decent job and is well liked but both she and our mother are disappointed in her live. They both resent me and still dislike my husband. I think that my situation really highlights that fitting in with the girl’s family isn’t actually the key to happiness.

Here's where so many go wrong about Christianity (including Catholicism). It's about _us,_ the condition of our hearts. Have we repented and attempted to walk right with God? If someone asks me about my belief system, I'll tell them about it in a non judgemental way. If they don't ask, I'm not going to preach to them. Trying to be some other adult's conscience is not our job. That job belongs to the Holy Spirit who is perfectly capable of wooing people into God's grace when the timing is right for that person. The sister should lay off her adult brother; he and his boyfriend are consenting adults and she has no business trying to tell them how to live their lives.

Are you using the Godparent label as it used to be used... responsible for the child in a legal and binding way if something happened to you, the parents? If so, then you should not ask a dying person to be this legally and binding agreement to be used with a dying person.... However, who really uses that label in that particular way nowadays? The OP with the brother with Duchenne's made me realize something: OP probably also carries the gene for DMD, so if she has kids, she may well be in the same situation as her parents. So far as I know (in my experience living in the MD sphere), women carry the gene for DMD and rarely suffer symptoms, while men rarely live passed their teens (though new therapies to extend mobility and life span are being tested to good result). If OP is a guy, the universe smiled on him because he doesn't have the genes so his kids likely won't be afflicted.

Honestly here my take I feel a combination ESH but not the brother. Hear me out. My mom’s friend has a daughter around my sister’s age (14). And for years she was an only child. Later on she had two consecutive boys (one is currently 3 I think and the other turned one not too long ago). That poor girl’s life changed drastically. OP is a massive AH for the embarrassment and that joke. But when OP said “it’s not like you’d notice since you never talk to me” that one hurt. Any child at any age getting a new sibling is a huge change. So getting a sibling right around your teen years is definitely hard. I can only imagine. It must’ve been a pain adjusting to it. Add on that that it doesn’t seem like the parents had the “this baby will need a lot more time and attention from us but we still love you and are here for you talk” at any point in the pregnancy or after. And at 13 that was a bad call on the parents part. That age is fragile, due to everything that happens then. When I was 13-14 I was pissed that my dad went from an ex-smoker to smoking “occasionally” again. I still think about that day 4 years later and absolutely despise it. A simple accommodation of therapy for OP would’ve gone a long way. And while OP was harsh the “I don’t like you comment” was in some ways, predictable. But that’s because when he came into her life that’s when she was supposed to start learning to study and understand her feelings so she can understand them and words them well. I get having a disabled child is a lot, but it’s still something that isn’t an excuse to neglect your other child especially if it’s a teen. Now OP needs to definitely apologize to the brother for the harsh words and the lashing out. Go to therapy and manage her emotions and bind with her brother until his passing. And the parents definitely also owe OP an apology. Cause it sounds like at the very least emotional neglect and family therapy should be looked at ASAP. I get kids and teens say it a lot out of anger; but when your child feels like you won’t care or notice if they were absent immediate red flag if mental health issues. It can be a gateway drug to suicidal thoughts and it can happen even unconsciously in that child’s head. So don’t berate them and make it about you. Take them to therapy. ASAP.

Sorry I'm about to rant... I think the father is well within his authority to tell his older daughter to move out. I would take that part time job of watching a baby a couple hours a day in a heartbeat (and I'm really awkward around kids). Especially when you consider what a lot of people have to go through while going to college (working multiple sucky jobs, horrible roommates, being a caregiver, not having money for basic needs, working around other family or personal challenges, etc.). She's entitled to the max because there are worse jobs in the world and apparently the younger daughter is smart enough to realize that. The older daughter could be working at a fast-food joint getting cursed out by Karens like any other person her age, but no, in the comfort of her own home she can't babysit her little brother?...for money?!! The dad isn't demanding her to raise the baby either but to help her own sick mother while he is away. Most family would do this without kicking up a fuss or getting $$$ (grandparents anyone?). It's like a story I heard where a wife got a cat, but due to her pregnancy was encouraged not to clean the cat's waste. Her husband refused to care for the cat while she was pregnant because he was holding her to the agreement that she would take care of the cat... and everyone called him TA because their unborn baby could've literally suffered badly due to the cat bacteria. In this case we have a situation where an unforeseen health situation came up and the father asked for *some* help from his teenage daughters (a whole year later) but was reasonable enough to pay them unlike what some parents wouldn't have done. And seeing as there are two daughters and one baby they can easily work in a reasonable schedule as well as put this experience on a resume and learn some life lessons. Sorry but I would've kicked out that ungrateful daughter and see if she would rather help take care of a baby for a couple hours a day or take care of herself full time. You get free room, food, no bills, modern conveinces, with the only expectation being higher education (not even a job so she's probably getting spending money). She needs to learn consideration, humility and cooperation to keep from getting sucker popped in the face by the real world. Her principle of trying to be right but privileged without consequence will not pay off in the end. Sorry, rant over

They're both assholes; yes it doesn't take much to look after a kid that age; basically just keep him fed, changed and alive. I mean, if the brother was special needs I might understand, but from what I can tell, he was a normal, healthy baby boy; the kind you could put in a play pen and sit nearby while you did your homework. But it is also a dick move to suddenly change the rules and hold people accountable for their actions before the rule change comes into place. And there are other ways you could've punished her before the nuclear solution. I mean, maybe he should think about hiring a neighbor to babysit the baby, give the money that was meant to be the older sisters to them. Let the older sister watch her younger sister by new things with the money while she cant afford anything.

Imagine the entitlement, trying to make use of someones time without their knowledge, to force them to be with their son; when they cant stand him.I would refuse to leave the job complain to HR about the situation and if hes hired let them know to keep him away from me and if anything happens i would sue both mother and son. For the story about the calling out the bad writing, NTA. As a writer myself, criticism is absolutely essential. The fact this girl won’t take criticism but dares to criticize op’s stories (in a very childish way, may I add.) is ridiculously clear entitled behavior. And also adding in homophobic and anti-Muslim comments? That girl sounds like a terribly immature and frankly toxic person. Writing is hard. I suck at it, and would gladly take criticism for it. Having someone ask you about your backup plan is fricking gift. I don’t write fanfics, but I have respect for people who do. Fanfic writers are writers just as much as people who make their own characters and worlds are. Writing is not a natural talent, it’s something where you start with some ideas and you learn from mistakes and critiques and you build on and get better as you go. If you don’t take critiques and if you don’t learn from your mistakes, you don’t improve and you become a sucky writer.

The carer with the disabled child and job situation: The mother's the MASSIVE asshole for MULTIPLE reasons. 1) Just because you hire someone to be a caregiver during specific times does NOT magically mean they're a caregiver 24/7 without you paying for that service. Magically deciding "oh, and she can drive him to work cause they'll work at the same place AND watch out for him at her OTHER JOB, TOO!" is some MAJOR entitled bullshit. She's either getting paid by her OTHER boss to do the job she was hired for OR you can pay her to watch your adult kid 24/7 like a live in CNA or nurse. You don't get to split it both ways. 2) Sexual harassment is sexual harassment, regardless of your adult child's mental status. If he's hired at this job and he sexually harasses any of the female coworkers, it'll be on camera and his ass will be canned regardless, plus probably banned from the store. Because as a minimum wage employ who's "capable of" doing a job that, frankly, robots do in Japan, he is NOT worth the legal liability to keep around. Either teach him to treat others with respect, or he'll end up rotting away in a home regardless of your pathetic excuses. Should others be patient with daily living tasks because of his disability? Yes. Does that mean others have to put up with sexual harassment? Absolutely not, and they wont.

26:00 Ok, since you asked: Since OP's son can hold a job, take direction, speak and understand language perfectly well, and can otherwise act autonomously in many ways, he is clearly capable of learning what consent is and that it's not ok to treat women the way he does. I'm so sick of people treating autistic individuals and people with learning disabilities as if they're helpless animals, incapable of self-control and devoid of any ability to learn at all. Newsflash, ANIMALS ARE CAPABLE OF LEARNING AND BEHAVIORAL MODIFICATION TOO. Even insects can be conditioned this way, so people with that mindset literally regard autistic people as lowlier than a bug. If a 4-year old child can understand the concept of consent and learn to keep their hands to themselves, then so can OP's son. There's no excuse whatsoever for failing to teach him not to treat women this way, she simply doesn't want to, she'd rather enable, coddle, and infantilize him. She thinks it's perfectly okay if her son harasses and even assaults women, because her "pweshus bayyybeeee" doesn't know any better...although he clearly does. See, in the comments she revealed that he will laugh and escalate his behavior if the girls (yes, he's done this to several other caretakers in the past) tell him he's making them uncomfortable. He enjoys their distress. And he doesn't do this to ALL his caretakers either, so he's well aware of what he's doing, at least to an extent, surely. His mother is the one enabling this behavior, she thinks his victims of should just suck it up and let him do whatever he wants to them, because she's paying them to be there. That's right, according to her, he's entitled to their bodies as long as they're on her payroll. That is viIe. The cherry on top is how she's willing to ruin that poor girl's life just to gain something of minimal benefit to her son. It's just a menial job at a pet store, nothing more. I shudder to think how far she'd go to secure him something that actually matters.

As someone with cystic fibrosis I;m honestly disgusted at the OP. I would be SO excited to be a godmother and my own best friend is planning to make me one. It's symbolic, it's not just about the child being raised if the parents were to die. Her friend sounded so excited for the baby's arrival too. I'm also not going to live much past 30 and having something else I care about taken away from me by my cf is unbearable every time, I've lost SO much already. I seriously hope the OP had some sense knocked in them and at least tries to put herself in her friends shoes. People like us have to cram as much happiness and love and experience into our lives as possible because in the back of our heads, the clock is ticking. Always ticking. And there's one huge thing the OP isn't taking into account: people with cystic fibrosis? Yeah we can't really make our own children. Men are completely infertile, for most women it takes tons of fertility treatment and even then for so many of us our effected organs can barely support our own lives without the strain of pregnancy. If I somehow managed to conceive, I would either miscarry or have to abort or I could just straight up die. When I imagine having a god child, I feel like that's the closest thing I could get to having a real child. If I was in the friend's situation I would be having flashbacks to my genetic counselor when he sat me down and told me I wasn't ever going to be a mother all over again.

The thing is, on the story of the woman with CF, how does OP know how long SHE will live? I'm the oldest of 4. My youngest brother died when I was 18 and he was 16. My oldest brother died when he was 30 and I was 32. My mom died in 95 at the age of 63. Dad died in 2009 at 79. And my youngest sister died in 2013 at the age of 61. According to the Bible, Death is no respecter of persons.

The learning disability one. That’s not because of the disability, that’s his mother is entitled and raised him to be entitled. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out he never had a disability and she just went from doctor to doctor until one decided to give him a diagnosis just to get her off his back

Admittedly, I am a crazy dog person - I keep dog biscuits in my home for neighbour dogs who use the dog park just off my balcony. But I don't see the situation with the dog, Tank, as any different than the situation of a single parent who future spouse does not want the existing children to live in the marital home after the wedding. People commonly did that in the past - I saw it play out in my own family when I got into genealogy. Animals cannot be reasoned with, and if you have ever visited an animal shelter, you cannot deny that they grieve for their families after they have been dumped there. Since Tank was a rescue, it is reasonable that he has already experienced that trauma once. Warehousing him in a boarding kennel for the ex-future MIL's comfort is just forcing a relapse in all the progress OP has made with him. Kudos to OP for putting a living, loving animal above a human - and I will confidently predict that whatever grief Tank goes through in losing BF when he has bonded with him, she can and will handle.

Oh god the CF one had me absolutely sobbing. There’s no way I’d have been able to read that story out loud. I have/had two step siblings with it. One died over a decade ago after refusing a transplant because “it’ll only prolong my life by a few years, but could save someone else’s.” Luckily, so luckily, a new drug came out just as the other was gearing up for a lung transplant. Due to the efficacy of that drug, they didn’t end up needing the transplant. They got off of disability and are living a (mostly) normal life.

DOG: Neither of you is ever going to find a lasting relationship if all it takes is a trivial dispute like this to split you up. The problem is that dreadful entitled woman you allowed to walk all over you. Tell her she needs to negotiate the time and duration of her visit. Both of you are busy people. Your apartment is way too small to accommodate her. She can stay at the el Cheapo hotel. Tank lives with us, so he will be here when you visit. He has not even growled at anyone in the last five years. Your fears are groundless paranoia. We will be here at all times to "protect" you from Tank. You asked us to put Tank in a kennel. That would cost approximately the same as your hotel bill. That is well outside of our budget. This would also be cruel to Tank. He would have no idea if we were ever coming back. And you demand all this expense and cruelty to calm your completely imaginary fears? What does your BF see in this old witch?

@@michaelmorris8302 - Any boyfriend or girlfriend who acts like this when they move in together needs to be monitored carefully to ensure they're not an abusive, controlling pice of crap. Why not be an asshole who's jealous of a 4 legged fur machine that's been her best friend for years? That question answers itself. HE moved in with HER. The dog is a family member and has been with OP longer than the boyfriend. It's a huge sign of a controlling, jealous nature, and the OP needs to run as fast as possible. If he's that jealous of her attention towards the dog, what do you think he'd do about his children? If he's a jealous prick, he's a jealous prick. I've known people - men and women both - who are literally jealous of their own children and the attention they get from the other parent.

Cancer vs. baby announcement. This is exactly why when I had cancer and it metastasized, I didn't tell my family. If it hadn't worked, and you had died , your mom would have been devastated to learn that you had never given her the opportunity to choose between helping her child or avoiding conflict with her husband. You state that you knew which she would have chosen, so not telling her showed a sad lack of trust and a cruel rejection of her love. It could be considered a sin of omission on your part, and she would have had to deal with it alone after you were gone. Your screen name is well chosen.
