So if you take your sleeping baby into a restaurant and the sound of silverware on plates wakes your baby and makes her cry, is everyone else supposed to put down their utensils and stop eating until you leave? Seriously? Coffee shops grind coffee. Coffee grinders are loud. That was in play before covid and it's still in play today. If the environment you're in is upsetting your child, then you remove your child from that environment. YTA

Of course they are. Don't you know. Karen's angel needs quiet to sleep even in public. So you must be quite for queen Karen's angel. The coffee shop should have known they were in the presence of a Karen. Then she comes home hoping to be rewarded for her Karen ways only to have her husband reject her Karen ways.

I know about Karens from jobs I’ve never worked because as someone in the service industry, we all have at least one story and it’s almost like our universal bonding thing as we share our trauma. and I’m not using trauma lightly. True. I once served a customer as a Karen came to me. Almost immediately she started a fight with the first customer for not keeping distance. I told her to keep distance herself and wait in line and therefore got reported to the manager. My manager agreed to her and apologised, but came to me eventually and we had a laugh about that stupid b****

I had one curse my daughter out in my shop office. My daughter was picking up her car and she was behind the desk getting her keys. It was after we had closed the shop for the Day already but the small gate was open and the shop was still open. She started telling her that she needs to get her car back and she had to take care of it now. My daughter said sorry I don’t work here I was just getting my keys out of the desk so I can go home. Karen started yelling at her again so when she finished and gave her a chance to talk my daughter said that it’s my father’s business and my sister in law’s desk who is my next door neighbor. So she gave me her car and her keys so I could get my car.. Karen went off again about getting her car keys and getting her car back. She started calling me after telling her 5 times that we were closed and she had to come back tomorrow morning. I answered my phone and I could hear my daughter getting yelled at. So I got my golf cart and took off to the front office. I got there and the Karen just shut up when I walked into the office. I. Was a little loud when I asked wtf is going on. Why are you not gone yet? My daughter just pointed at my Karen and said she would not believe I don’t work for you. I was like scrubs and a hospital ID badge then looked at the Karen and she looked at the picture on the wall behind the desk and there was a couple pictures of me and my daughter in her white coat. I told Karen that she is my baby girl and she is a surgery resident in her 3rd year. Karen’s jaw was on the floor. She then said that my daughter in law had called her and said that we were going to start charging storage fees on her car if they didn’t come pick it up. I asked her again for her name. She looked mad but I said the name on her car . Oh she said Karen Jackdone . I almost laughed in her face. I pulled up her car and I started looking at her file for her car. My daughter in law had called her but her car was totaled out and she should have been paid off for her car. I told her that she should have been paid for her car and they were responsible for the car now. She said that she didn’t get a check from them and they told her that they were getting her car fixed. I kissed my daughter and let her leave. Karen stayed red faced and gave her a big apology. My daughter was just like no worries she is a doctor and she sees it all every single day as she is still a resident. So Karen’s car was totaled and the insurance company had not told her yet because she didn’t have a rental car. I took her back to my yard to show her the car and show her what I found when I got it into the shop for a look to order parts for it. She asked me if I could fix it and what would it cost over what the insurance company was willing to pay. Explaining to her that it would be a salvage title and that she would have to buy it from the insurance company. She was like I still own it they have not paid me anything. I told her that she needs to get a rental car and make them get off their buts . She picked up her rental car this morning when I got to my shop. I had to pick her up from her house. Now waiting on the insurance company to get on the ball and make a deal with her. I even told her what they should be paying her for her car. Now more waiting for Karen but she has their car and they are paying for it so they will get it done soon.

That's exactly what I was about to comment. Getting a gift card isn't validation for bad behavior; it's a deterrent of a possible bad review. OP was in the wrong in this one. Her husband was right to say so. The baristas were just doing their jobs and may have been working in whatever time they had to do prep before they got too busy to do it.

Technically, it's criminal neglect of a minor (at least it would be if it was in Australia) and at the very least, it would earn the mother some court-mandated parenting classes along with strict supervision. At worst, it can result in a few years in prison along with the child being permanently removed from the parent's custody.

When i was 9 or 10, I was being bullied at school. My parents were going through a rough patch, and we were food insecure. I put my lunch on a table, went to get milk and came back to find my lunch on the floor, stomped on. I started bawling and went to the teacher. She scolded me, saying this was why I was picked on. No offer of lets buy you a new lunch, nothing.

I was severely bullied in school. When i heard about the anti bully initiative i know this is not going to work. I know your daughter isn't alone in this kind of treatment. They have sources and methods that the kids are taught to prevent bullying that screams for the bully to take advantage of the system to make their victims far more victimized. I just know little popular girls are raising their hands saying "she is bullying me" with convincing fake tears to convince the staff that the victim is the bully. and look at the responses in this thread. A truly bullied kid would never raise her hand and announce to the teacher in front of everyone that she is being victimized. its such an easy avenue to intensify the horrible treatment and get the staff to join in.

The "make the boys apologise" comment actually made me change my mind. I was on "don't tell the neighbour" until that, but it made me see it serves two good purposes: 1) strong formative and humbling experience for the boys facing their actions. 2) establishing for the neighbour that her neighbours is on her side if the kids ever cause trouble again, whichs makes it known that she won't end up dealing with a Karen if the neighbour discovers this kind of problem herself.

In most US states, regardless if the person is trespassing on your property or not, the indecent person can be charged with a sex offense. If it was a minor child that saw someone naked, and the parent called the police, the naked person could and most likely would be charged. 1st story: YTA. Karen, stay out of coffee shops from now on. 2nd story: NTA. CALL CPS NOW! 3rd story: NTA sorry you had a s***** friend. 4th story: Can't actually say what is what. OP wasn't cheating on what was, essentially, an Ex at the time and the (now)wife's best friend and soon to be ex-husband split, and wouldn't be surprised if the guy hadn't slept around as well. And OP didn't know the child was his, maybe the wife bf didn't either. 5th story: No, ruin their little power trip. 6th story: YTA. She may be like one of those unpopular cars that are boring/bland on the outside but can go the distance, but you are one of those vehicles everyone wants until they drive it. And that man is better than most men that qualify as 'gorgeous', stereotypically as shallow as you. 7th story: NTA. They should leave neighbors alone. 8th story: Split. On one hand it implies forcing your values on another, but they did the same to you by saying they don't agree with gay marriage and implying you need to cancel. The biggest part of me though says to do it, and who care if TAH or not. 9th story: NTA, you wouldn't be blamed in the least for not wanting to talk to your ex-husband. Besides not your fault. He played around, got played, got burned. 10th story: YTA, think she is going overboard to avoid over-snacking, but hey do you. 11th story: Staying out, this has too much family drama for my tastes 12th story: Already commented on another vid but NTA. 13th story: YTA, one nice gift after years, if not decades, of cheap ones wouldn't kill you, and removing the old gazebo is a necessary step when putting in the new one. 14th story: YTA, kids fix nothing, they just make problems even more pronounced. You two don't want the same out of life, so may as well get divorced. 15th story: NTA for wanting what is best for son. 16th story: YTA and the idiot 17th story: NTA 18th story: NTA, but your sis and mom are. I do not know if you have been, but I recommend going to a grief counselor as it sounds you may need it, though I could be wrong. 19th story: Well, don't have to say one way or the other, but glad daughter is going to get help 20th story: YTA, knowing the basics about something, doesn't mean you know anything as some common 'facts' are myths 21st story: NTA, it is good support for her and her mothers. Girlfriend is the 'me first' type or the dreaded 'me only' type. 22nd story: YTA taking money out of daughter's college fund and you have the nerve to ask that? 23rd story: YTA, if they worked it out, stay out of it 24th story: NTA, he needs to grow up 25th story: NTA, we really need to end that Great Depression tradition. Raise prices enough to pay and inform guests that tipping is no longer needed/required. 26th story: NTA, tell me you got her ice cream after this. I know what it feels like to be bullied by one individual above all others (though mine was from the 6th-12th) but I was never attacked by the teachers (many knew my bully was real, but with school rules, little they could do though they did try to distance us best as they could and keep an eye on the situation) 27th story: Guys yelling at each other occurs everywhere. We joke loud, smack talk each other loud, and are loud in competition, even without video games. While I don't have this problem as I am single, I can now understand why many guys turn their garage into a man cave (have a coworker that has his gaming system and gym equipment set up in there as well as tools) as a garage muffles much of the noise. If you have that option, might I recommend it? NTA, but you need to break it off or find a solution. 28th story: YTA, sleeping in a bed was one thing not cleaning up the vomit from your bed or the sheets you slept in? WTF wrong with you

I’ve got to turn one of the scenarios around and ask, “my son started to behave weird towards my girlfriend (in similar ways to the story) and then tried to sit on her lap, she got angry and then suggested that he find somewhere else to stay because she felt uncomfortable with his behaviour towards her. I suggested that maybe he would not behave that way if she dressed ‘normal’ and didn’t wear skirts, dresses and tops that showed her shoulders, legs or any of her cleavage.” Would there be any doubt that the OP in this story was the AH? OP’s daughter is a teenager (albeit it an emotionally immature one) They need to sit her down and explain exactly why her behaviour is inappropriate and that if this does not stop, that you all might have to rethink the living arrangement, because everybody deserves to be comfortable in their own home. It truly should have been done before now.

I was genuinely concerned that the guy was grooming his partner's kid. Like if they were having an affair and the daughter was trying to subtly flaunt it. I'm glad that wasn't the case and the poor guy was a freaked out about it as the mom was. It sucks for him obviously but it was just super awkward as opposed to outright sick and evil. I'm glad the girl is in therapy for her daddy issues.

You know...a "clean start" requires honesty. That's the whole point of it being a "clean" start. Otherwise, there's a chance your partner will find out--like she did in this story--and it will be so much worse. Sleeping with your partner's best friend is pretty significant. Probably not something to do in the first place, really. Even if you agreed not to discuss who you slept with, maybe that one in particular is something to mention? Especially if there's the potential that you have a new child with the friend?

As someone who experiences severe symptoms in lieu of insufficient food for any amount of time, this enrages me beyond measure. Especially since we're talking about a small child. my mom said when the baby is sleeping don't change any routine because expecting perfect silence all the time is unrealistic. Well she had 11 kids so her forethought was cool. All of us can sleep through a scream metal concert. Not that the house was that loud it just prepared us to sleep when we need to sleep.

We grew up lulled to sleep by the vacuum cleaner roar. Housework is eternal, learn to sleep through it.

The story about how the dad was going to give custody to the aunt is about to make me cry just thinking about both of my parents being dead is so sad, and I just hope the kid will have a good life! And the sunami is just so sad losing a child that you love hopeing they are alive, but there is still a small chance they are alive

They agreed to not talk about sexual partners during the break up,not children that may or may not be theirs. He knew there was a possibility this kid was his.

I always thought that sending a kid to bed without dinner was cruel, heartless, and evil. There are actual kids in the world starving and instead of being grateful every dam day that your kid has food to eat, they starve them. That is child abuse. And this from someone who grew up getting my ass whipped with chanclas from a old fashioned latin mom. A butt whopping taught me a lesson, starvation would have made me see my mom differently, probably not the extreme love and respect I have for her now. She whopped my ass but fed me to my hearts content with love. Love you mom, miss you. Rip.

Call CPS and video record your nephew during dinner, asking why he isn't at the dinner table and such so there is proof. Offer to foster if you love him and want to keep him in your life, if you have the means to.

For the starving a 7 year old. I don’t agree that OP should try to explain or wait. The child didn’t argue back and if the parents agreed it fine, it’s probably happened before where the kid wasn’t lucky enough to have OP there to feed them. They should call CPS. You can’t use the first time mother excuse, that kid is 7 years old and anyone that has even owned a pet knows you don’t starve them. The mother seems to care more about how perfect their child is, rather than if the child is happy. Call CPS and maybe get in touch with the school so they can assure when he goes back after the pandemic he has lunch every day so if this abuse continues he is at very least having lunch. It may cause a strain in the family but the health and well-being of that child is more important. Plus he clearly trusts OP since he went to them when they couldn’t sleep due to being hungry.

I think the husband who didn’t tell his wife about his relationship with her best friend is TA. Everybody knows the length of a pregnancy and there’s no way he did not count how many months it was between the last time he was with the best friend and the birth of her child. He very well had to know it was a possibility

Only the birth mother has all the facts and dates and never told him. He is supposed to start counting days, make guesses? Early baby? Late baby? Geee? Especially when birth mother was back with husband telling him it was his and long enough to have husband believe it was his till the divorce.
