@@playernotfound9489 Here, the problem isn't sleeping without a blanket per se, but punishing a child for petty reasons, and depriving him of one of his needs. Wether it's heat, or you know, the need to feel secure at night. I don't know if it was your case, but when I was a kid, I was afraid of the dark and my blanket was like a shield against the things lurking in the shadows. If someone would've deprived me of a blanket, I would 've had panick attacks at night. Child abuse isn't just about hiting kids and hurting them physically. There're several types of abuse, like neglect, psychological abuse, verbal abuse etc... Also, if depriving a kid of his blanket might not seem to be "too bad" right now, it might be a sign that his stepmother will be more and more abusive through time.

I really hope this story is made up for karma points. Because if not, wow... *Second OP:* I'm sensing an "evil stepfamilies" theme in this vid. I've only gotten to the first paragraph, but I'm gonna say OP is NTA. Her ex-husband's girlfriend has the _audacity_ to tell OP who to raise _OP's_ son? _After_ having an affair with OP's husband!? AND she _threw away OP's son's things that OP paid for!?_ Nope, couldn't be me. OP's ex-SIL is a G; Shoutout to her. *Third OP:* This is a tough one. OP's wife is in a hostile work environment and took out her stress and frustration on OP (and their kids). OP has to be on call at his job that evening and said his job takes priority over his wife *(I misread; OP said his job takes priority over **_his wife's job._** My apologies!)* (out of frustration). I don't know if I want to say ESH or NAH. Also, because OP's wife didn't look after the kids because she was crying, maybe I should give OP a NTA score. I'm sure anyone who replies will guide me to the right path in a respectful manner. 😛 *Fourth OP:* I don't understand parents who think their kids don't deserve privacy or a social life simply because they're minors and live with their parents rent-free. And removing their doors?! Unless those kids gave OP's sister a reason not to trust them, she should not be invading their privacy. And even then, she shouldn't remove their doors. OP is NTA. In most cases, saying something of yours is more important than your partner's is shitty, but when it comes to your actual livelihood and stuff, it's different. It sounds like OP's wife is either being dense on purpose, or she isn't mature enough to understand what being an adult is like.

Oh my goodness, that first story is heartbreaking, especially with the update. I've been teased and bullied before, but this feels so much worse. R.I.P Meghan.
@spydersoup84472 жыл бұрын
First story: "That's their way of bonding as stepsiblings". No, bullying is not how you form bonds. The way you form a bond with someone is to help them, comfort them and be there for them, especially after going through a hard event like going through cancer treatment and losing your hair, not mock and tease them, even pulling their wig off. Why would anyone want to form a bond with someone who always teases them for a side effect of getting a medical treatment and feeling uncomfortable about it? What sane person goes "This person's been showing me love and kindness through bullying me for being a cancer survivor. I'm so happy for it!"? No, just no, that's just not how it works, plain and simple. Also, I do see people calling OP the AH here for being married to this family when she's fully aware of what they are, but honestly, I give OP a pass on that part because I imagined that OP was hopping that her husband and his son would change and become better people. Some people are like that, they stay married to their abusive spouse because they hope that they would change or that they would help them change, even if in some cases, they never will. It's only that that point in the marriage when they should file a divorce like in this case. Second story: I got the same feeling as rSlash here. OP's ex's girlfriend wants to be OP's son's mom and completely mold him into her ideal child and OP's ex husband is on his gf's side here. This is stupid at how she hates that OP's son loves his actual mom more than her. I think after this, OP should work on getting full custody of her son. Third story: What's with these stories about the other partner not even understanding how important OP's work is and that can't time off? Last story: "No kids should ever have privacy and all their kids should be controlled by their parents until 18"? Yep, OP's sister sound like one of those special controlling entitled parents who thinks kids are the parents' property and they should know every single thing about them because they want obedient children who will do everything they want them to do. And the most baffling part about these people like OP's sister is they never even stop and think about why their kids don't love them, even though it's obvious.

My God the first story made me so upset! That's bullying not teasing. I was "teased" so badly by a family member when I was growing up that it caused a lot of damage to my mental health that I'm still trying to over come to this day. Teasing isn't okay if all parties involved aren't okay with it. Teasing is suppose to be fun and playful not something that attacks someone's self-esteem or ability to feel safe. What that kid did was straight up bullying!
@vicproductions74202 жыл бұрын
That last story kinda hit home for me because my mom is the same kind of mom who doesn't believe a kid should have privacy and that has to run their kids lives until they're adults. In my case, even when my brother became an adult and was about to get married, she was still overbearing and controlling, would even listen in on him and his now-wife's conversations behind his door. It almost caused him to leave early but only officially left the house when he got married. Now, the same behaviour has come onto me: listening behind the door, even reading through my journal/diary in the past which was completely out of line. But she tries to excuse it by saying that because I don't talk to her, she has to find other ways to know what's going on in my life. It's gotten somewhat better but it's not great. Once I leave the house, that's the privacy I get by hanging out with friends. It's the one time I'm okay to be myself without being judged for it. I do love my mom and sometimes, things can be okay but... I don't know, most of the time, it could be better. I hope to be like the good mom in that story when I have kids.

Story #3: The wife said herself, that her task could potentially wait, the only reason she wanted to get it done, was to not get bitched at by her boss. But if her work income isn't necessarily missing, does she even need to work at all? Or if it's so stressful, she could've switched jobs. But the way she behaved to OP was absolutely unreasonable. Story 1) Kids teasing each other is a 5 year old teasing a 4 year old about not playing in mud and throwing mud at her out of childish spite. A *legal* adult ripping off a *teenagers* wig to expose her baldness from fighting something that kills people isn't 'teasing', that's straight up bullying. And he absolutely did it with malicious intent because he's been actively trying to expose her since she finally won her battle. OP, you will get points if you don't divorce this man immediately. Any human being who would readily laugh at someone for winning a fight with cancer deserves to be alone forever. You get 0 points for now, Ben gets 50 points, so does his joke of a father, 5 points just isn't enough for these assholes. Story 2) Honestly, what his family thinks of her, is not really your problem. If you are straight up telling the truth, then you're not painting a bad picture for her, she is. She's doing all of these awful things, which by the way, everything she's thrown away that *you* bought for your son? That's considered theft and if you can prove that she's thrown it away, you can get her on the grounds of theft. It doesn't matter if it's 'her' house too, it's not *her* son, it's her *stepson* that she's doing this to. Honestly? I would fight for full custody of your kid, because it's blatantly obvious that your ex is letting his new 'gf' abuse the poor kid mentally. You get 0 points, she dug her own grave, now she can lay in it. Your ex gets 5 points for multiple reasons, his new 'gf' gets 4 points for being a bitch. Story 3) It sounds to me like your wife needs to get a grip on reality and switch jobs. If her job is so demanding while underpaying her for the demand it requires of her, then it's not worth working. Also, if your job lets you move around to another location, I recommend going to a lower cost place of living so that you can ease the burden on both of you. It is unfortunate that both of you had to do something at the same time, but it's unfair of her to blow up on you when you told her that you were needed by your job. You make more money, that doesn't mean what she makes is less credible in the relationship when combining your pays, but if you losing your job means that you're homeless, then yes, your job must come first or else you're going to have to move. Ultimately, it sounds like the fight started over her getting too stressed out over the work because she knew she wasn't going to be able to finish it and her boss was going to harass her over it. So I'm giving a nobody sucks here score, your wife just really needs to change jobs. Story 4) The only one who crossed a line (several times, might I add), was your sister. You don't get to tell someone they're a bad parent for letting their child have some freedom, and she's got no room to talk when she literally walked all over her own children and now lives alone because of it. You would think an empty nest early would have taught her that like a donkey kick to the face, but apparently she's a narcissist as well as a terrible mother. You get 0 points, she gets 3.5 points.

Story 1: Take your daughter & _leave_ - your husband is an idiot, his son is a bully & he is actively cosigning that behavior & excusing it when you call it out. Story 2: NTA. Even if it is, as your ex says, "her house so she can decide what comes in", it does not give her the right to destroy or dispose of someone else's belongings. She can say it can't come inside, but she _wildly_ overstepped. That woman has much deeper issues, & your ex is a blind idiot. Story 3: O O F, NTA. In any other circumstance, telling your partner that anything of yours is 'more important' than theirs would be a dick thing to do, but in this case it was a simple statement of fact that without your job, you're homeless. It seems like she was being purposefully dense in demanding that you ditch your work in favor of hers. Story 4: NTA. She needs therapy & she needed someone to say something to let her know bluntly that her ideas on parenting are the majority of her problem maintaining a relationship with her kids. Also - you don't have to agree with someone else's parenting style, but that is not an excuse to pop tf off & start ranting at them calling them abusive or neglectful when they absolutely are not. If you have concerns that their kids are being mistreated, call protective services.

The behavior in the first story makes sense actually. Everyone there probably hadn't done anything half as impressive as beating cancer before even being out of their teens. This obviously made them feel inferior so they took it out on the child by trying to make it out as if surviving cancer is embarrassing. Push her down to make themselves look better.

Usually my scores defer a bit from rslash and it's always fun comparing diferent opinions even only on one end, but having a 5 out of 5 match like today was super satisfactory. I don't understend how self centered you have to be to mock a sick child

For the my job comes first story I find the part where she neglects her children because she feels bad, absolutely unacceptable behavior that is teaching your children that they can’t rely on the parents, traumatizing the children.

That first story was terrible, like how do you sleep at night knowing that you mocked a girl with cancer for no good reason???

For real! That's genuinely one of the most abhorrent things you can do. That, paired with the fact that the Husband is not only not condoning his son's behavior but encouraging it, tells me that OP needs to pursue a divorce IMMEDIATELY.

7:58 the worst part is that they believe, losing the relationship of their in-laws is somehow worse than losing the relationship of their son

Oh my goodness. If that was my child and someone pulled her wig off after CANCER treatments, I would be like a tiger ripping him to SHREDS. He wouldn't even SURVIVE the attack.

Story two: OP acted wisely, unlike her sphincter of an exhusband. OP needs to go to Court and seek only supervised visits with a potentially dangerous stepmother, as well as increased support to compensate for the cost of stolen goods.

Story 4: That sort of parenting is frowned upon in more the half the planet. She seems to be in denial that she is the problem.

The blanket story! I'm really into crochet and let me tell you, it is hard work. I'm making a small stuffed animal right now (a sheep) and even though it is just for me, i would cry if it got damaged. The kind of emotion you feel making something for someone else is intense, the time and effort and money it takes to make something can be taxing, the frustration you feel when you have to unravel something, and redo it is insane. Imagine making a whole 3-course meal, and have someone else throw it out. Imagine pouring your love into a blanket to keep a small child warm and safe at night while away from you, and then imagine someone discarding it as a way to *punish* a child? I would get arrested for the actions I would take. Pure evil

You know this is a good episode, when the lowest score Rslash gives out is a 3 out of 5 buttholes for being spoiled, unreasonable and neglecting your children. Also I fully support going for a divorce in the first story. Both Ben and his dad are shitstain human beings that should have no contact with your daughter ever again. And since his entire side of the family actually seems support this disgusting behaviour there is literally nothing redeeming about having these 2 in your life OP. Cut them out and don't look back.
