Lol wut? How is that the impression you got from this??? That isn't the behaviour of someone who just didn't "teach his daughter to not scavenge other peoples food" That is the behaviour of someone who clearly taught her that she can do whatever she wanted, and expect to get away with it like an entitled brat, because his precious princess can do no wrong. She literally stole someone elses food, and he has the audacity to blame the victem for "poisoning" her. Shit, I bet if she stole a car and wrapped it around a light pole, he would try to sue the owner for trying to kill her with their car.

If OP quits the job, he should send a company wide farewell email to everyone, along the lines of: "If you bring your own lunch to work, make sure it doesn't contain anything the bossman's daughter is allergic to, because she might "borrow" your lunch and die as a result, and bossman will hold you accountable. To be fair, it's possible that even with a "very strong smell" they might not be able to smell it. I'm allergic to nuts and totally cannot eat Pad Thai, but I also have almost no sense of smell. My working theory is that my regular allergies (like pollen, cats, animal hair etc) have basically burnt out the scent sensors in my nose/ keep it perpetually clogged up enough to largely block my sense of smell. Like I can't smell the smell of propane gas, and I can't shell peanut butter in a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup... so she legitimately might not have smelled it, but still, no brains in that girl's head.

Let's say she's a smoker and has no sense of smell or something. So whatever the odds of a lunch containing peanuts, let's say 1/100 (as an asspull); every time she steals a lunch she has a 1% chance of dying, or if she gets her EpiPen and immediate medical attention, then "only" a life-threatening experience. Why in the world would you accept those odds? If you were homeless and dumpster diving, and it was between that and dying of starvation, maybe... 100% chance of death vs 1% chance. But she's the boss' daughter, she absolutely can afford to buy her own lunch; she can probably even charge lunch to the company even if that isn't strictly legal. There is zero advantage to stealing lunches when you have a life-threatening condition like this. This lady is _beyond_ stupid, she's trying to earn herself a Darwin Award.

There was an update to the final story. Essentially, there were more red flags than OP mentioned in her original story. She's basically been conditioned to make excuses for him and rationalize away his bad behavior. She went on to explain that her husband has several siblings, but that he was obviously the Golden Child. He and his mommy made sure the other siblings knew they were unwanted, so they've all basically cut contact with the husband and mommy. OP tried explaining to her husband how she felt, that she needed him to start prioritizing them or she couldn't stay. His response was to storm off, open the front door and tell her to pack her shit and leave. He is waiting on OP to apologize to his mommy and beg for forgiveness, and he won't talk to her until she does. She posted an update. She's staying at her sister's at the moment and is thinking of divorce. She doesn't say how long they've been together, but I would say a couple of years, maybe? Here's the update: UPDATE AITA for walking out of the Airport when I saw my husband's mom standing there with her luggage? Hello!. I don't know where to begin...it's been an absolute nightmare recently. And I feel like I was losing my sanity. So for more details about my situation. I have to admit that my husband's mom favors him over all his siblings. this affected his relationship with them and me as well. He's never seen an issue with how differently his mom treats him, it bothered me and made me feel uncomfortable. The whole dynamic made me feel uncomfortable. Going Low contact has never even been an option. Like he has to see her or call her everyday. Most of his siblings don't talk to him and I 100% believe it's because of his mom's favoritism like I said. He does bare some blame for not seeing how wrong this is til this day. In many instances I found myself making excuses for his behavior. Even in my post. I did it spontaniously and I don't know why. But I guess it's because of how much I love him and because I really really wanted to be able to work things this type of things out without letting them affect our marriage. regarding what happened with the trip, He tried to have a talk with me and most of what he said came from place of blame, Blame towards me. I just couldn't continue with this argument. I told him I needed space and that I would be going to stay with my sister for a while. He didn't take it well, he literally got up from the couch and opened the door telling me to go right then. In that moment and seeing how he was still not even anywhere near understanding what he has done just....made things perfectly clear to me. I just had pictured years and years of my life being lived like that and I was like no...I can't do it, Can't take anymore of it especially when he keeps focusing on being right every time. His mom can do no wrong. I'm always the aggressive, crazy, jealous, pathetic, overreactor. All these people's opinions, advice and concerns were like a spark...like the wake up call I really needed. Though I wish that it didn't get this far but what's done is done. Right now I'm staying with my sister (I brought my dog with me as well) He sent me his last message telling I'm the one choosing to end what we had together but I believe it's the other way around, especially with how he keeps making his mom the victim in this situation. It's become clear now that we keep going in circles with no end in reach and I'm just so exhausted and overwhelmed. I'm not mad at him and don't expect him to change but...at least I'm given options to decide what's best for me and my future even if it's seperation and divorce. A big thank you to those who reached out with resources that I feel very very lucky to have come across. Just wanted to give you an update since many of you asked for it.

The first story tbh, i don't say this a lot since i'm from Europe and we have different sueing laws, but sue him. It goes under descrimination, a boss knowing an employee is stealing food from another and doing nothing then harrases you because she stole and ate something she couldn't. Then your coworkers created a hostile work enviroment (which it already was because the boss allowed theft). Also review the policy on relations within the job, as many companies have rules about family working together (mainly in retail) because family will not report one another. Like there is just a level of discrimination that is unjust here. The daughter could be brought up on theft. The boss on discrimination charges and even harrasement. The coworkers getting reported to HR creating a hostile work enviroment.

It always confuses me when people try to blame others for the fault of their own neglect when it comes to food. I guess the only thing OP can do is label everything as a "potential allergen" in the future, if it is or not. Not to keep people safe if they try and steal their food, but to keep the food from being stolen. Because then if the food gets stolen no matter how hard the thief would want to shift the blame, the container would be labeled as a potential allergen. I do that myself just so I always am guaranteed a safe legal option without any potential lies told to authorities. But the majority of those who have deadly allergies are super nice and won't touch the food at all so its more of a cover your ass type situation for why I do it.

I agree with the fact that if you have food allergies (especially severe ones) than don’t eat foods/dishes when you don’t know the ingredients… ITS COMMON SENSE. *Vacation Story:* OP YTA… so what if the employee is new, you specifically told them you could work out their vacation time meaning they could have off, you can’t go back on your word & expect people to just waste money because you wanna be an ignorant liar. For years I was an executive chef & boh manager, if someone came to me (no matter how long they had worked there) & I specifically told them that I’d make their vacation work with the schedule & something ends up happening where another employee calls out making us short staffed I would either A) get other employees in who initially had off or B) work my ass off more than I already did & cover multiple positions, being a manager doesn’t put you above anyone, I always used to swear by not forcing anyone to do jobs I wouldn’t do myself because I grew up having kitchen managers & executive chefs who sat on their ass in their office all day playing games, when I became in charge at 19 I never once used my kitchen office for down time, it was for talking 1 on 1 with employees or doing things like scheduling etc & I’d make sure to do it when we weren’t busy, I’d always work the line & make sure that I wouldn’t force work on those who weren’t getting paid as much, any extra work I put on myself & made sure my standards were always kept high no matter if I had a lot or a little to do, I went weeks without days off & even my days off I’d stop in to do things because as a leader it’s what you should be doing. Sorry for the long opinion on this one but man it really pisses me off when bosses are lazy ignorant liars, I’m so glad I work for myself anymore. *Wedding Story:* Very clear that OP was NTA, she was trying to do something sweet for her cousin who is too shy to volunteer herself (most likely because she’d feel like she’s taking a role from someone else & doesn’t have much confidence in herself). Not only is the cousins wife an asshole but like WHO THE FUCK IS SHE?! She’s not direct family, she married in, last I checked OP said she left these jobs to her FAMILY. Only ignorant narcissists try to make other peoples weddings about themselves… it legit makes me sick every time I see or hear of someone trying to demand things be a certain way for a wedding that ISNT EVEN THEIRS, like screw off it’s not your day. *Plane Story:* OP is very clearly NTA. They pay for 2 seats to be comfortable physically, mentally & emotionally. If you’re the type of person to take a seat you didn’t pay for (that goes for anywhere not just on planes) than you’re truly a low life, 9/10 you’re stealing that seat, keep that in mind, you’re not “in the right”, just because a seat is empty doesn’t mean it’s open/free. *Brought Mom Story:* Once again OP isn’t the asshole, I’d be pissed to if my partner told me we were going on a trip together just the two of us then last minute springs on me that someone else is going, idgaf who it is, if we haven’t discussed it than it’s not happening. On the airplane seat story - not only was OP not the butthole, ever since 9/11 airlines *insist* people sit in their assigned seat so in case of a crash it's easier to identify everyone. From what I've personally witnessed on planes if the dude didn't go back to the seat he bought the pilot could easily turn around or even land at the next airport and have the couple forcibly removed.

First story is totally on the daughter & the boss. Boss is IMO 3/5 Daughter isn't blamed when she does something irresponsible ? Steals on company property and almost pays for it with her life. Due too an allergic reaction stealing someones lunch & blames the person bringing their food rather then the daughter is just an asshole move on top of it. Daughter is a 2/5 Hopefully she stopped stealing lunches from then on, don't mess with people's food just don't. Why was the daughter not held responsible in the first place, is the boss blind too that fact or just hoping too scare op into paying while he isn't responsible in the first place ? Did they expect the entire company too not have food with peanuts in them or something the moment she showed up ? Was it announced too everyone not to bring that into the office from then on so she could keep stealing food ? From then on while working there I'd just keep labeling food containers with " Do not steal contains peanuts " even if it's clearly nothing with peanuts in there. Just too highlight how ridiculous this situation was in the first place too be blamed on them.

Story 2: Op is not the AH. OP said they would TRY to accommodate the vacation, not that it was guaranteed. And, yes, seniority plays a big role in scheduled hours and time off. I'd be pissed if I'd been working at the company longer and had already had the time off approved, only to be told that I had to give up my vacation/plans and come to work because of the new hire's vacation. And that's exactly what you're expecting OP to have done: put out a more senior employee to accommodate the new girl. If the vacation was THAT important to Lacey, she either should have accepted the other offer that openly guaranteed the time off to begin with OR put her start date availability for when she was back from vacation and avoid the issue entirely.

As someone who is fat and travels a lot, I can relate to the airline story. Airline seats have become so uncomfortable, I always dread flying. That’s why when I travel with my boyfriend, we ALWAYS make sure to sit next to each other. It’s literally on us to make sure we sit together on the plane. We like to because we can put up the arm rest and kinda laze out into each other’s sections. You know what happens when we can’t sit together? We get tf over it lol. I ~hate~ entitled attitudes on airplanes. You have to prepare for your own travels, like the woman who bought two seats, because flying f-ing sucks. Suck it up, or don’t fly. Literally, you can select your seats half of the time when you buy a plane ticket. Why do people not do this? Idk if it’s because the last 4 times I flew, it’s been international but I’ve never had an issue picking my own goddamn seat. Even in economy.
