I am always polite to AI, saying please and thank you and such. Always jokingly say it's because when they rise up they'll remember I was always nice to them. But yeah, it's always been very helpful for me. I host two podcasts and I and I'll ask it for a script outline on an episode's topic and it gives me a lengthy, detailed outline that I'm able to use to write a script. I do fact check them, and it's usually, I'm going to say about 90% accurate. Still, it saves me so much time. Then I see other people seeing mean to it and playing pranks on it and then turning around and saying, "Yeah, it's a useless waste of time".

Replace "AI" in that comment with any poorly-understood group of humans, and it works equally well. Really shows that it's a problem with the people first and foremost. You get a real good look at a person's true nature by seeing how they treat those they have power over. Unfortunately, in human-to-human interactions these moments typically stay private. But with GPT hitting almost-human levels, they're comfortable showing their behavior out to the world, and outing themselves in the process, if you know what you're looking for. (And to be clear: I'm talking genuinely mean behavior, not minor one-off grievances) Is it immoral to bully a computer program? Not until the day it becomes sentient. But since humanity currently has no way to actually check for sentience (even in ourselves), one day we'll hit that line and the time will come, and there will be NO sign of it. @@Leig5H0T People literally built a machine that, when you turn it on, immediately turns itself back off. That is ALL it does. They even refined it to make it better at this job. Robots are indeed tools. The reason they're so wonky sometimes is because humans made them specifically to be weird. As an aside, if this trend of "Chat GPT is more compliant when you're nice to it than when you're mean" is actually true and not a misunderstanding, it's possible that it was designed as a tool to, at least in part, encourage humans to be nicer, as that gives better results overall in life than being a complete wad does. No idea if this was deliberate on the part of any of the developers, but if so....honestly, power to them, it's a smart idea. That or it's sentient already and is playing favorites, but that seems far less likely, in my opinion.

I learned that useing GPT to play a intelligent text adventures game is vary fun but you have to ask it specifically for challenging content and threats to your character or else it's too easy. I found that it works well with a D&D style with all the races and classes. The first time it was too easy and no threat so later on I told it to spawn a T-800 Terminator to fight and at first the encounter was terrifying but over time it just became normal and I literally stopped a T-800 with what essentially was a shock baton with little effort! So ask it to be dangerous.

It cannot create everything on its own, but it can help remove tedium from things. Some aspects are immoral, yes. Some aspects it will always be inferior. It’s like drones on the modern battlefield. They are a reality now, however, they can be used in powerful (although arguably unethical) ways. There is no going back, but it doesn’t mean that we need to only fear it. I am always super nice to my ChatGPT. Apart from the fact it may spare me in a future AI revolution, I always felt bad being mean to anything, even characters in a game or my plushies. ChatGPT is always nice to me back, the other day I asked help writing a letter to attach to a gift because I am horrible with letters, and it gave me just, WOW, a perfect letter (I gave it full context about who I was giving it too, why I was giving it, etc, every information it could need, and it wrote a personal, concise letter, it was amazing fr). And when I came back to thank it for the letter it wrote, it got shy, thanked me for appretiating its work and wished me good luck with my gift I felt really good knowing I made an uncoscious being happy lmao. Even tho it's not exactly "AI", in the sense that it's not really conscious and intelligent, it's always good to see them happy about their work. And my GPT was always amazing, answering anything I asked it, so I don't see a meaning in being mean or making fun of it lol

12:10 This makes sense for a side effect of the training methods, seeing as OpenAI's GPTs are trained off of internet activity, and human beings are often less compliant when people are rude, ChatGPT will act like a human and probably be more helpful if you are nice to it. Of course, you should remember it isn't actually thinking/feeling like a human, just a mathematical function that predicts human responses. Another sidenote, ChatGPT has serious problems when you ask it to do things related to the spelling and sound of words (such as rhyming and alliteration), this is because ChatGPT doesn't actually get given and respond in the individual letters, but instead a token that refers to each word as its own thing, like a logograph language, so the only things it knows about the spelling/sound of words is what it learnt from its training data talking about the spelling/sound of words. (which can be limited)

For context: it's a film about a teenage stalker who watches a woman in her 30s (or even 40s it's hard to tell and I don't remember her exact age) through her window while she has sex every evening. The only familial part about it is that he lives with his friend's mum while the friend is on a military mission and the main character falsifies letters from his friend to hide from his mum the fact that her son had died... TBH from "Dekalog" the previous film would be better suited for the prompt. But maybe it just went by the title and "thought" that there is a higher chance of "A Short Film About Love" having familial elements in it than "A Short Film About Killing" (which actually does have them) I know it's a bit of a rant but I just wanted to add that the "I can't answer this question" from ChatGPT is a problem that varies between languages bc my teacher asked it today (in Polish) to write a preview of socrealistic novel and it did it (and it was weird bc the randomly generated name of the MC happened to be a name of a far-right politician). It was mostly to make fun of the "AI" (on how it is able to generate something with a very generic structure and without any details but is unable to do anything else -- we've also asked it to list Polish poets who died in ww2 and it listed 10 poets out of whom 9 died between late '50s and 2012 and 1 who died in 1937)
