7:00 .. if anyone was wondering what she was getting paid per hour I did the math because why not. Assuming she works 8 hours a day (9am-5pm) 5 days a week, that’s 40 hours. 100/40 is 2.5, she would be getting paid $2.5 an hour. If she worked 8 hours 7 days a week, she would be getting paid about $1.77. According to 2010 statistics, the average cost of a median U.S. house was around $222,900. A median house price means it’s a price where half of the houses are listed as more expensive, half were less expensive. Going by inflation statistics, that $222,900 house, in 2020, would be about $266,000. For the lady being paid $2.5 an hour, she would have to work 106,400 hours. She couldn’t pay any expenses either, no food other than at work, no water, shelter, or light other than at work. That’s 4,333 days, or around 12 years. Oh yeah no I help students/staff find childcare at my university’s centers and our SUBSIDIZED rates are around $1,200/mo for full time per child. That pans out to about $5/hr/kid (which is okay since we have lots of kids and get enough funding from the university to break even). Parents out here expecting to pay a PRIVATE NANNY $400/mo for full time care just absolutely blows my mind. You’d make more begging for money on the street than you would as that babysitter.

I was a 'nanny' who basically lived at someone else's house for half the week taking care of their kid for $150 a week, and I only gave those rates because the person I was working for was a good friend in a tough situation, and everyone else they knew charged easily two to three times that amount. I think it spends a lot on the cake, I would never pay $60 for a normal single story cake as I can make one for myself for under £10 and it’s not that tough, but if it was for a decorated multi-story wedding-style cake I’d be more willing to pay more, but even then $60 seems like a lot for a cake, I think I’d rather make a bodged 2-story cake by myself and spend £30 on KFC or something but that’s more me being a cheapskate rather than you being overpriced or anything.

@Just Another KZbin Channel $60 really isn't much for a professionally decorated, hand made cake. While yeah, you can make one for cheap with pre-made frosting and box mix at home, if you want someone with the skill to make and decorate a homemade cake well and to be able to customize it how you want, you gotta pay for that. Plus the time that goes into it. It's cheap to make at home because you aren't paying yourself to spend the time on it. If we just charged the cost of ingredients we'd be broke lol Typical restaurant pricing is a 30% markup after adding labor into the cost of ingredients. So if your ingredients for a single tier cake and frosting cost $15 and it takes you four hours, including baking and cooling time, to make a cake, at minimum wage that's $44. Adding on the profit margin you'd want to charge about $57 Edit to clarify: $44 is after adding minimum wage. US federal min is $7.25/hr so $29 for four hours

00:1 a friend of mine told me a story about his dad. His dad lived in a small neighborhood, and everyone kinda knew each other. Except, there was one old veteran, who tried to decorate every year but it was the same old things, and the fact that he had only one arm, it didn’t help. The guy was shy, so he never asked for help. So, my friend’s dad and his buddies, who didn’t celebrate Christmas (don’t remember what they celebrate, I just remember they didn’t celebrate Christmas), got a ton of Christmas decorations and candy, and went over to ask if the veteran wanted someone to decorate his house. The guy... he genuinely sobbed, and together they decorated the guy’s house. After that, the guy and the buddies and my friend’s dad had a “Christmas” dinner of candy and Chinese take out the veteran ordered. They did it every year until the guy died... and his daughter moved in, so she could do it by herself, but she still invites the friends and their families over for Chinese food, in honor of her father. She’s a nice lass.

I wouldn't kick the friend out, but rather play their game. Don't clean up the mess either and just wait. If they complain and say it's your kitchen therefore you should be the one to clean it, reply with "Sure it's MY kitchen, but I was the one who let YOU use it. YOU were the one who made the kitchen a mess, so it is still YOUR mess in MY kitchen and IF YOU WANT TO STAY, I strongly suggest YOU clean up YOUR mess." It's all about showing that regardless they're your friend or not, they still need to show respect and just kicking them out isn't going to achieve that. You've gotta be fair, but firm. Stand your ground and show them that it is truly your place and they have no right to make a maid of you when they don't live there.
