A quick Google search says that 15,000 Thai baht equals around 475 US dollars. The bitcoin symbol has two lines instead of one that don't overlap with the B (₿) and the Wikipedia article for Bitcoin actually says "It is not to be confused with '฿' for Thai baht" BEFORE the first line. I'm guessing the original poster made the initial mistake because it wouldn't be on r/Crackheadcraigslist otherwise.
