I've been experimenting with the new virtual faders on my Roadcaster, and I've come across a key issue that I think needs addressing. As far as I can tell, these new virtual faders are only operating in PFL (Pre-Fade Listen) mode, meaning they only affect the monitor mix that i hear. The problem is, there's no option to set them to POST, which would affect the actual mix going into OBS (or any other streaming/recording software). So, no matter how I adjust the virtual faders, it doesn't impact the final mix my viewers/listeners get.

Amazing new feature. Hope it can also work on Mac system. And here's another thing I wish RØDE can take into consideration, which is a simple fade in/out function on "Sound" for SMART pads. When you choose to play an background music by using the pads in "Continue" mode, every time we pause and resume it just come in suddenly. If it can add a little bit fade in/out that would be absolutely perfect.

This is amazing! Have been waiting a long time for this, glad we're finally able to unlock more of the RODECaster's potential. Something I'd love to see is more Smart-pad functionality. Being able to toggle simple routing would make the device so much more powerful. You could toggle media-sharing if someone wants to quickly hear what you're watching/listening to, or continue listening to your music, but turn it off for the stream. I also run my VR microphone through the RODECaster. Originally I used one of the virtual channels for this, but this left me unable to use voice effects. I'd love to see virtual input/output effects, as this could also allow us to set up toggleable music EQ-profiles, or apply voice effects to friends in a call. Keep up the great work, I'm loving all my RODE stands, arms, microphones, mixers and headphones!

Rode should give the possibility to load VST plugins on the console because the few effects present are not enough (for example, an expander is missing). So if I understand what you're saying at 4:33 only channels you have assigned to faders will be active and shown on the computer as outputs? I need all channels "active" and even the big pro2 only has so many faders nevermind the smaller Duo. It's virtual channels, there's no reason why all the channels can't be "active" on the PC when things like voicemeter and your own Unify software can do it. Please correct me if I'm wrong here because more than anything I'd like to be wrong about this.

One thing I absolutely love about the RCP2 is that you don't really need any software to make it work - being able to just plug it into any computer and have it instantly work as you expect without having to fiddle with driver/app installs is amazing. That's why this feature (while great) is a bit of a "regression" in my opinion since you need the drivers to get this to work as described in this video. I realize this is something that's probably required because of the way the hardware is set up in the RCP2, hopefully any future RCP3 will be designed from the start to be as plug-and-play as possible.
@BrianMackey20104 ай бұрын
""a bit of a "regression" in my opinion since you need the drivers to get this to work as described in this video''' Isn't that more of the Windows or mac issue?
4 ай бұрын
@BrianMackey2010 Good question, I'm not sure. My point was that for USB1 the separation between the "main" and the "chat" channels is done transparently - you just plug the cable and you get two "devices" you can use without any extra software. It would be great if the new channels worked the same, but I doubt they can on the RCP2. That is why I said my hope is that Rode take this into consideration on any potential new revisions of the RCP.

BIG ISSUE WITH THIS UPDATE: When using OBS (i assume most streamers waiting for this update are) once you assign all the virutal channels to output into OBS you'll notice that it does not matter would you set the physical faders to on the Rodecaster. Every Virtual output will send the audio 100% to OBS no matter what the physical device is set to. I am not sure if this is a Bug or working as intended, however that means we need to adjust each output level inside OBS and the physical faders only affect what we hear on our side. Pretty bummed..

is there plans for the second usb out to have the same features as usb1? (virtual devices). I have all of my gear connected over the network and controlled by my main pc; where i want to move that control onto a dedicated device and having usb1 AND usb2 would benifit power users (i can't be the only one wanting a device that does this). I'm part of the small group that needs more virtual devices i suppose. i need to be able to send and control audio from multiple computers to multiple outputs, while also needing the ability to control multiple sources from those computers. or am i being silly and this is already possible with multitracking and ASIO drivers? I'm not so sure about that feature and how the rode caster handles that. The only comparasion i've been contemplating are the presonus devices but they are geared more towards music production which is way more overkill then what i'd need. everything could also be solved by making a rodecaster pro video 2 that is basically the procaster II + video combined into 1, just let me have 4k/144hz in and out and that would be an instant buy from me, and i'm sure many other power users/content creators.

Okay not sure if I am just missing something or not but awesome job…. Except missing one thing like every other virtual device misses. I want to control each one separately on my rode caster, which works perfectly…. But I can’t assign that same game channel to a separate channel for OBS? This is the part that I feel like is being missed. Most people don’t want to mix it on their ride and then lose all ability to do post editing. We want OBS to mix it like normal but have the easy of adjusting it from out rode caster. Unless I am missing something I have to still use the old way of rebalancing everything and hoping it is good because I can’t see an output of the game channel or music or so on. Rode, i have some input on your update, as much as this as greatly expanded fader capabilities with audio from applications, there is still a critical flaw that is keeping the Roadcaster pro 2 from being the go to for streaming, specifically on OBS, we need the ability to have a minimum of 4 different audio input sources such as the 3 we already have (USB1, USB1-chat and USB2) simply by adding one more of these would greatly increase the versatility of the Pro 2, allowing users to set 4 different audio tracks, each individually can be tuned with custom VST plugins and other OBS specific settings, WHILE being able to control the sound levels going into OBS with the Rodecasters Faders. as a streamer the way most audio is ideally separated into tracks is Game-PC/microphone-/discord/music, the Pro 2 is just under slightly under the threshold for these needs. but none the less this update is a step in the right direction. and hope to see more soon, please take note of this.

awesome video and great help ! just one question, my game audio is set to game and i believe everything is routed correctly but my game audio kinda goes up and down.. any answers maybe ?

You could have a noise gate in effect, try turning off your processing and see if that alleviates the issue!

Maybe I missed it, but is there a way to switch easily between the Stream Mix and your personal mix to here what the stream is doing compared to your personal mix?

There is a sub mix feature that can send a custom mix to your stream as well as a different mix to your headphones!

I don’t understand the need for a driver? You could simulate many usb devices via a single connection (like a hub) and just act as if there are multiple sound devices connected. And you could show and hide the virtual devices by simulating them being plugged in and unplugged. Is this going to need a driver for Mac too? I’m assuming so if Mac support is coming soon. That probably means we’ll be waiting on upgrading OS for rode drivers, tell me I’m wrong and it’ll be plug and play on Mac using the built in drivers

Give us the ability to add more virtual devices, it has the potential to do so. Helps when it comes to streaming on twitch.

Hi, I assigned some windows apps like different internet browsers to the virtual devices and then added those as new sound output sources into my OBS scene. The issue is that whatever setting I choose at USB 1 Output - pre-fader or post-fader, the audio keeps "flowing" at full volume into OBS and ignores the position of the physical fader. Any help is appreciated, thank you very much.
@rodemic4 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that! For this, you will need to select post-fader, but if the issue still persists as you are describing I'd recommend contacting Support and providing your feedback through the link in the description of this video! @@rodemic Thank you very much. Do I need to add the virtual devices as Global Audio Devices in OBS or can I also add them as Audio output capture in my OBS Sources tab as well? Because Global audio devices only allow me to pick the virtual channels within the first two Desktop Audio and Desktop Audio 2 options. The audio volume still does not react to the position of physical faders whatsover even when using post-fader option on the device itself. Can you please confirm that the virtual faders are suitable for my specific use case which is: 1. Set the output audio of a specific app (Firefox browser) within Windows to the virtual device A 2. Set the virtual device A to the physical fader #1 3. Route this fader through USB 1 Main interface to a PC 4. Add the virtual device A as a source into OBS 5. Control the volume of this virtual device A with the physical fader #1 while monitoring its volume visually on OBS audio mixer dock Thank you very much for anyone's advice.

I only wish it would work on my original RodeCaster Pro as well as my RodeCaster Pro II. Oh well, this is why the Two was built differently I guess. The good news is, my Original still does what I bought it for, so I can dedicate it to that scenario while using my Pro II streaming.

Ok, I have the weird thing now that I got a new Rodecaster Pro 2 and not being able to get the virtual devices. I actually installed the Beta 1.4.4. I installed the virtual drivers on Windows. I put the multitrack on Extended. Connected the Rodecaster Pro 2 to the PC. And no virtual devices showing up in Windows or on the Rodecaster Pro 2. What am I suddenly doing wrong here? On the old Rodecaster Pro 2 where I had beta 1.4.3 I had no problems at all. But have a new streaming PC and a new Rodecaster with the beta 1.4.4, and suddenly it's not working anymore.
