This song is just so positive. It really motivates me to stand up myself and I have got cerebral palsy. Every time it plays in my head, I think to myself "I have to stand up" and not let go of the railing in the bathroom. It's a great song to do my sit to standing exercises from home. It's a great song. And I love it so much. It is my second favourite R.E.M. song behind "Man On The Moon" which is indeed my personal favourite R.E.M. song. This song reminds me of when I was a teenager and I had the ability to walk a little bit more. It's a great song and I personally love it.

This song was like.. 10 years ahead of its time. I grew up listening to 60s, 70s, and 80s music (mostly motown, r&b and soft rock) but REM was never on the list. So I didn't know any of their songs until I was an adult and started hearing this song recently at my job. But it's funny because when I first heard it, I immediately assumed it was a song from like 1998. It gives me total Smashmouth or Goldfinger vibes. The style of singing, the way his voice sounds. The guitar and melody. All give me late 90s vibes. But when I looked it up, I was surprised to find just how old this song actually is. So I guess that late 90s sound grew out of this!

Losing my religion is a southern expression for losing my mind. Michael Stipe, the lead singer, has said this is about unrequited love. Also, there is a lot of imagery in this video, and if you notice , there are quite a few shots of well built half naked men. So…….

I love this one too! And I love the dance. Everyone seems to be having so much fun! It's been a sad couple of years and this song was on my mind and I really needed to hear it and watch that video.

I don’t understand the hate this one gets-this is one of REM’s best songs! Silly is good. Look at Louie, Louie by the Kingsmen; it’s recognized amd enjoyed allover the world 50 years after it was written.

Straight to the point catchy song about standing up for where you are. Your job, your community, your town, your state, your country and your world. Stop day dreaming and move. It all starts at home. Have pride in your person and place.

This is the first song I remember hearing in my life lol. Kinda weird, but I remember being 2 in our apartment in Chicago in 1988 when this record came out, and listening to this with my parents. It's still probably the most nostalgic song in my life, even though it's not the most serious song.

This is a good song to listen to when you wake up. When the song ends, move your head around, put your feet on the ground, and stand.

For my wedding which was almost five years ago, I tried to ban all line dances (Chicken Dance, Electric Slide, etc.) from the DJ. Turns out I forgot the worst one: Cha Cha Slide! Anyway, I deeply regret not thinking to have this song played as a group line dance. The dance is nearly as infectious as the tune!
