Last story, DON’T MOVE. If you get a restraining order, you’ll be able to get HER to move by calling the cops every time she gets close to your house, essentially forcing her to be the one to move out. Also that would be a shitty situation to leave the people coming in behind you with.
@olinewright6877

now that is a good idea. if the restraining order has a big enough area she would not be able to live in her house. There is enough evidence to obtain one.

I was thinking that if I was in OP's position, my ego wouldn't be able to bear the thought of moving, because there was so much more chance that she could find a way to get her damn pool without us there and then she would win simply on account of acting like a shithead. And if it turned out that she could afford to buy my house, I'd have yet another fight on my hands if I refused to sell to her, which I might not have the energy to follow through on after all she had put us through already. But conceding to her would feel like the ultimate defeat. A restraining order would be the best way to get her out of our lives for good if the area included her house.

I'm so damned tired of people who think they are special because they bred. I have three, two special needs, all current adults, but you'd better believe that I understand that supporting them required me actually doing my job, doing it properly, and leaving my shit at the door. I used to love it when people would throw, 'but I have kids, you don't understand how hard it is' at me. I refused to keep personal photos in my office or even talk about them because it was a distraction, I'm deeply private at work for many reasons, and my coworkers aren't any more than that. I actually told one dude when he protested me firing him using that line, 'Yeah, so do I. They're at home, I'm at work. The two don't cross. Get out.'

My Mom never worked in an office, but I think if she had, she would only have a couple pictures of me because I’m here only child. I get what you guys are saying, I really do. But some parents would at least carry a picture or two of their family and/or kids because they miss them at times. Especially for new parents of their newborn or adopted children when they first go to work or go back to work. Again, I get the idea. No distractions at work. My mom was too busy with “Hands on” jobs to have an office or to sit down except during break time.

I believe in workplace flexibility to accommodate home situations. However, the support needs to be fair to all staff and work quality needs to be up to standard. I had an employee who lost her nanny sue to covid, so she has to work from home for longer. Guess what? She was so appreciative that her work was stellar. She and her husband worked out an interim schedule to let her be in office a bit more. Most working parents, in my experience, like their careers and jobs. It provides them an identity outside of “mom, dad, wife or husband”. It is their own thing and yes it puts food on the table and roof over their head.

As a person who got into management in my early 20s, the disrespect some older employees show their young managers is ridiculous. I'm an manager and you're not for a reason. Your behavior towards a younger manager is just a cherry on top of why that decision was made.
@KE-hr4sb

I've also seen the flip side. I worked at a Starbucks once, I wasn't there to work my way to the top of the chain; honestly, I just enjoyed making the drinks. It was fun! I was mid 20's, the assistant manager was maybe very late teens, early twenties. I'll treat people with respect until they give me a reason otherwise, and for some reason she took an intense disliking to me and was completely rude to me. Refused to train me, saying "she couldn't just have me following her around all day," wouldn't speak to me unless she had to (bonus for me, honestly), but would also do things like berating me in front of the customers (for following a non-policy courtesy the manager, her boss, had taught me), etc. Close to the end of my time there, I was in the early stages of pregnancy. I asked not to work the bake case and volunteered for extra register duty (which was the least favorite job of the staff), because the smells from the bake case made me nauseous. She refused. At the drink station, it was the person's job making the drinks, to also stock up on the supplies when low. Everyone else was able to manage this just fine, but when it was her turn to run the drink station, she'd make everyone else stock up for her. SO she asked me to go to the back to get four gallons of milk. I did (two in each hand), but another girl that worked there took them from me and fussed over me being pregnant and lifting heavy things. When that employee returned with the milk, once again I got chewed out in front of the customers. I left not long after that. It was my favorite job, but she made it hell the days she worked.

Didn't apologize but never did that again either. She was not all bad but liked it when she was not there, more than when she was. If the person over did like something you did/didn't do there are better ways of handling it then jumping all over you in front parents who came to pick up their children. The "I don't want kids phase"? I heard my father call it a phase for over a decade before he finally realized that some people just don't want kids ever. Turning 40 next. No regrets. Never wanted them, never will. Being a parent doesn't make you a better person than others. It doesn't make you entitled to get further ahead in life than others. Being a good people and a good worker will get you where you want to go - kids or not.

My thoughts exactly! As an aspiring mother myself, this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Entitled Parents thinking they can get away with bad behavior just because they have kids. And in my opinion, you can have the same things that childfree people have(except a childfree life of course), you would just need to work harder than usual or as my daddy would say hustle for it. I told him when he got home from school watch some TV, get a snack till hubby got home. I usually got home at about 6 to 7 pm, i would help with homework till dinner. I never pulled that crap "I'm a mom" card. The first one, I've seen that in my workplace years ago with what I called "the mommy club." They had overtime and I tell this story a lot. This single woman sometimes was drunk and she came up to me and my friend (who was also single) and yelled at me specifically and stated that I was taking all the overtime and stealing food from her kids' mouths. Mind you, the overtime was for everyone, not just me. My friend and I were like, we were not aware that overtime was just for single or married women with kids. I guess having a sports car pissed her and others off. I am not responsible for the choices they make. They chose to have kids, I did not.

Last story: Since I have dealt with/currently am dealing with a neighbor who harasses me: That woman can greet into a lot of trouble for threatening harm and death to OP and his kids! I would've immediately called the police about that, if I were OP in that situation. Every state's laws are different, but they do take that seriously, especially with kids involved. Also, I'm grateful they have a camera system set up! This woman sounds extremely dangerous. If she's willing to escalate to property damage? How far will she go? It also makes me wonder if she's un medicated bipolar/borderline personality disorder as well? My sister was bipolar and stopped her meds except valium and pot. She could become violent and unpredictable when manic. She almost broke my windshield in November 2014 ween she flew out here when my dad was first in the ICU. She became so bad that I called my moms in Oregon and told them that I couldn't handle her, she couldn't stay with me anymore. They were able to finally talk her into flying back home to Ohio. Which worked out since my dad was in the hospital for months. my neighbor, though, hasn't caused priority damage. Just a lot of varying degrees of harassment and has resorted to taking pictures of not only my private property whole ON it, but taking pictures IN through my windows, and assaulting me. Not to mention has called the police twice saying she thought I was dead, (just to harass me), adult protection services, I was 39 at that time, I'm divorced and my son is an adult living on his own, successfully, AND animal control to try to get my cats taken away. He said they were healthy, happy, and beautiful! He was also happily surprised they all came individually when I called each of their names! I only need to get their rabies shots and licenses updated. I had let those lapse since they're indoor only kitties and I'm on disability, quite poor at only $824/mo. I've had to call the police on her four times in less than a year and the detective told me to get cameras and the next time she does something, get a restraining order. She's flat out told me she hates me and was willing to do anything in her power to get me to move. The lazy time she tresspassed I told her get off my property before I call the cops, she tried telling me I was smoking too close to her house! I was WELL over 25feet away, besides the fact her own husband smokes! Hypocrite! She turned fast and toddled quickly back to her back door mumbling shit about me, so I said I'll just slap her with a restraining order. Other than her sister yelling shit at me, I avoid my neighbor st all costs. Though I do bump into her husband at least once a week on his way to work at 5:30am and he's such a pleasant man! I always say good morning and have a great day! I'm always super nice to him! lol He's always super nice back. The other neighbors I'm friends with don't like her, she's just the rich, entitled, gossip of the neighborhood, who has never worked a day in her life. She brags about their Montana mansion, their vacations, her trust funds, they have FOUR cars for two people in their sixties, and she started hating me after I became disabled and my dad died and left me the house. Though I had lived here for seven years previous to his death.

It never occurred to him to call the cops when some crazy (literally and figuratively) karen was threatening to harm his kids and take his property!? Seriously?! Was he just hoping and waiting for the karen to act on her threats of killing them? Was he hoping that her bat-shit scrambled brain would unscramble itself? Why didn't he turn her into the cops, USPS, and Amazon for ADMITTING IN TEXT that she steals his packages and opens mail addressed to him? (All federal offenses, BTW). She gave him all the evidence he needed for C&D's, Restraining Orders, and criminal charges just with the texts and voicemails alone. Then my favorite "I saw the pool company and workers pull up on my property (and knew they were for karen and her insane plan to commandeer my property) and decided to ignore it and go to work", what? WHY? "Hey boss, there is some insane bitch who has been threatening to harm my family and to destroy my property, so I have to call in today to call the cops and get this handled" is a pretty good reason to Call in Sick, in my opinion. As an aspiring mother myself, this is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Entitled Parents thinking they can get away with bad behavior just because they have kids. My mother is currently a manager and she doesn't tolerate ANY bad behavior. And she wouldn't take that "But I have kids" nonsense if she needed to take out the trash because she is a career woman with three children of her own. My older sister, me and my younger brother, in that order.

1. Story this story reminds me about those pictures that did go around a few years ago where a woman had a coffee cup in her hand and a sign basically saying something like „I am allowed to skip the line because I am a mother and that makes me so much superior towards everyone else“

That first story: I’ve experienced something similar. I’m a preschool teacher, and the way we usually work here in Sweden are in teams of 3 (1 preschool teacher + 2 assistant teachers). The preschool teacher is the one who has the most on their plate so to speak. With planning lessons correlated to the curriculum, Convention on the rights of the child, and based on the children’s interests and needs. A preschool teacher is somewhat like supervisors or managers. Or at least, that’s the closest equivalent I can think of. Well, one of my teammates at my former preschool (an middle aged assistant teacher, at least a decade older than me) was one that couldn’t handle having a preschool teacher that had fresh ideas about how to do things. She was the one who should be deciding things, and do the preschool teachers job. A lot of things were bad at that place, so I decided to move on to an other preschool. That was the best idea ever. I’m so happier where I am now.

Last story OP your biggest mistake was not taking it seriously from the first text message. You should have contacted her husband immediately. Although if he is a doormat then nothing would have come of it probably but at least he would have been in the loop. Also in situations like this get the survey papers from the county and retain a lawyer so that cease and desist letters can be issued. The lawyer you consulted does not seem to good from what you say maybe you should have researched the best Realestate lawyer in your area. When you need professional help always go for the best, they may be more expensive but you get what you pay for, remember that cheap is always more expensive in the long run. Still as you are moving and selling get all property lines surveyed and marked for the incoming buyers and give them a heads up regarding the Karen next door, it's only right they should be warned.

Story 1: if she is as awful as OP says then yeah fire her. Seems the waitress was having a bit of “queen bee syndrome“ where she couldn’t respect a younger woman in a position higher than hers and needed to somehow be on top is anyway possible. Like, using the fact that she had 4 kids to disregard manager responsibilities was kind of bullshit. Having kids is completely irrelevant to qualifying for running a restaurant. That woman was in her 30s, she should’ve acted like a responsible mother and did her job to make sure she can provide for the kids she constantly bragged abour. Even if it meant respecting her younger boss instead of constantly trying to one up her by acting like she’s somehow the better woman for having kids.

I have a supervisor who used her excuses of taking care of her kid for her to get the day off. I get she is a single mom taking care of a 6 year old, but she accepts more days off for herself than me and my coworker just bc it was inconvenient. I bet she did that bc she knows how much work we do and she doesnt want to cover for us. She gets picky that she won't accept me and my coworker's request for 1 day off. But when I had a previous coworker who was also a mom with a couple kids, supervisor will accept her multiple days off. So I feel no sympathy when she brings the kid-card bc she doesnt treat us civilly unless u kiss her butt, like another previous coworker who uses flattery and friendliness to get multiple days off.

One of the perks of my job is that the company owners have not a servitude bone in their body. During my interview they told me "clients are always right, until they are wrong. We are nobody's servants". They constantly tell me that although I should always remain polite I have to be stricter with people. So whenever the customers ask me to speak with the manager I'm thinking "You REALLY don't want to do that"

If you disrespect people above you in your carrier, just because they are younger, you disrespect the people who gave them the job too. Just because you have children does not give you the right to be a bad worker or disrespectful to the management. People always say that women have it harder in the work place because they have children, that is not true in the modern world where job security is guaranteed if a woman takes time off to have children. The reason that discrimination exists, beneath the surface, towards women in the workforce is because of women like her and the others mentioned by the responders, their entitled attitude makes them unsuitable co-workers where everyone must work together. As a By the By I would have told the two waitresses who supported her that if they felt that way they could join her at the unemployment office.

I've worked with moms, and yeah, sometimes you do need to back them up. But if the mom is not an entitled karen, those backing up times are scarce (they're multitasking wizards), and yes, she will thank you when you do and back you up when you do need a break (not to mention she will have a strong work ethic, not only to bring the bacon, but to set an example to her kids)... and as a bonus, she will use those mommy instincts on you when you look sick or your lunch looks not good enough for her mommy standards. And if you're close enough, team up with your own mom to nag you on the speaker lol. So, no, being a mom/dad doesn't excuse you for being an entitled witch. Moms and dads can be awesome coworkers too.

Is it ok if I just keep chugging down cans of Coke while I'm cuddled up on the couch with the dog we rescued from his 'rescue' home? You know, the dog that is, at this very moment, somehow, managing to smile smugly in his sleep while taking up a great deal more than half of the room on the couch despite the fact that he's not quite big enough to do so? Just flopped over on his back all spread eagled like he's the one that pays the bills around here. I'd send a pic but this platform doesn't support it. But, never fear, should you decide that you want one later, he does it on a daily basis so there's no need to document the phenomenon immediately. EDIT: I believe that I just broke one of Dog's Commandments. Apparently, I have disturbed His Lordship's royal slumber with the light from my phone's screen. Should I say some Hail Marys? Or is it Howl Marys? I suck at religious stuff...
