His advice was reasonable for the late 80s and early 90s, and he is completely unaware that the world has changed. Working your way through college was a reasonable thing to do when a part-time job at minimum wage would pay a full year’s tuition (this was true in the 80s). Saving up to buy a house cash, or at least a huge down payment, was feasible when houses cost around 3 years average salary and not increasing 10-20% a year. Even saving up to buy a car cash was more feasible when rent wasn’t 60% of your monthly pay. (I still think this advice is sound, though).

Think of like a show that has a part one of a season and a part two, I think Velma is like that, but broken up into two seasons to pretend it’s more successful than it actually is. okay second comment, I've worked at a gas station previously, you do in fact have to follow a protocol when gas is spilled and they do in fact tell you to use cat litter so the spill doesnt spread and so that it absorbs into the litter in order for you to pick the litter up and dispose of a good amount of the spill. Mechanic shops also use cat litter to clean up spills, it works really well actually. The real issue in that picture... IS THE LIT CIG SHES GOT LMFAO

My son, who is now 30, had to move in with me (his mom) along with his wife and 3 kids, after they lost their home, due to an issue with the city finding out they were being rented an illegal apartment. This was about a year and a half into Biden s term....now here we are over a year later and they both have fairly good paying jobs but OMG I have no clue how in the world they are gonna pay rent, put down a first and last month deposit and turn on all utilities!! Properties that were $300-$500 just 2 years ago are $800-1000 and that's just one bedroom that aren't in the best areas and isn't large enough anyways. SMDH We have done the math and figured out they will need AT LEAST 4k just to move in a place with enough room for them😮.and that's if they leave their small dog with me, as everywhere we've looked charges a pet deposit PLUS a monthly pet fee We live in a rural area where rent and the cost of living has historically always been low, extremely low in some incidences. For many years we were shown as the cheapest place to live in our state....SO HOW TF ARE THESE KIDS SUPPOSED TO DO THIS ??? And we won't even get into the scenario of them wanting to buy their own home or if they wanted to move somewhere a little more urban. It's INSANE and the fact that ANYONE, much less a supposed financial advisor, would act like they were just lazy or sorry pisses me off. I mean very few people truly want to live with their parents.
