The Gay Court case was a big thing over in the US. A woman decided to start a business making wedding websites but didn't want to make websites for gay couples. So when she received a query via her webform from a gay man, she went to court to ask if she could refuse service. It ended up going to the US Supreme court. Because they're now mostly made up of fully right wing ideologues they've found in favour of the Web designer. But it also means that they've set a precedent allowing companies to discriminate against LGBTQ+ folk. A journalist started looking into the case and pointed out that because no service had been requested or refused then it was a hypothetical situation and so wasn't officially supposed to be heard. She then called the person who sent the Web message who confirmed that he hadn't sent anything & he was straight. So it was an imaginary case against an imaginary couple with real world results. 😔

I've seen this "women should control their bladders" thing when it comes to periods so many times and I'm not even sure who to blame. The faulty education system? Parents? Or do we have random people being stupid just for the sake of being stupid.
@nikkiofthevalley Жыл бұрын
Education system. There's no real way that you could ask a child that sort of thing, as they just don't care at that age. Sex Ed should be taught a lot later, when they actually might care, and might end up remembering what they were taught.
@ceilinh6004 Жыл бұрын
A lot of schools separate girls and boys when they first teach about puberty, so the boys don't always get the period talk. Also, some parents choose to keep their kids home when they know sex ed. is going to be taught. My mum is retired public health nurse. She used to teach sex ed. in our county, and found some of the constraints she was forced to deal with to be quite frustrating.
@WukongTheMonkeyKing Жыл бұрын
@@nikkiofthevalleyIn parts of Canada, sex ed is blended into human development. Grade 1 is stuff like identifying body parts, and washing hands. Around grade 5 (10-ish years old), things about puberty start to get taught. Grade 6 is where it gets specific, and things like menstruation would be taught (because this is when many start puberty). There is a lot more to it, but it is gradually taught over the course of years. Unfortunately, there is an opt-out option, resulting in many students not learning important things, and carrying that gap in knowledge into their adult years.
@MoonShadowWolfe Жыл бұрын
@bluefireanimations3712 Hon. Periods might start at age 9. 10, 11, or 12 are very common. XY children are also harmed when they've had no instruction as to their health or safety, end up getting infections or injuries in youthful solo experimenting. Remembering your own disinterest or your own later-than-average masturbation beginning is not a good reason why kids who need to know shit should be deprived. You were a lazy, perhaps squeamish, child and you didn't like learning new things. Kids who aren't as passive and incurious as you can and do get hurt when they don't know what they're doing. You could have been assumed no-risk and ignored safely, according to you, and whether that's true or not, it is dangerous to believe this about every kid.
@naonao9528 Жыл бұрын
@@nikkiofthevalleychildren show interest in their own biology and how babies are made at a young age. Additionally girls have been getting their periods earlier for decades and can get them at 7 or 8. So I don't think kids are being taught too early and this loose interest, it's probably a lack of education. Teachers should be taught how to address these topics with their students from a young age. There are different conversations to have at different developmental milestones. This should be communicated with the parents and supported by the school administration. Children who are taught age appropriate sex ed at younger age tend to be better adjusted and have lower rates of teen pregnancy than those who received no sex ed or abstinence only ed. Parents left to their own devices teach their kids the dumb backwards stuff they don't know because they never learned. They never received education in school and it's too taboo to talk about so they make assumptions and perpetuate those assumptions: like girls can hold in their periods or get pleasure from tampons.

Hi CLick, just a quick reminder about the "wife leaves her dying husband" part. I searched for the article because there are indeed some instances when you should think about divorcing your spouse even though they are battling an illness. In this case, she was highly in need of support herself but didn't get it. I can't speak about other countries, but here in Germany, we understand why the families of terminally ill people need a support group, too. For whatever reason, she didn't get any. She tried to support her husband in the best way she could for five years while he kept drowning himself in self-pity., The suicide of a close friend of hers was some kind of wake-up call. She already had some suicidal thoughts herself but ultimately decided that she didn't want to end like her friend. I am not saying that terminally ill should not be allowed to drown themselves in self-pity. I am saying NOW that I would never divorce my perfectly healthy partner if he ever falls ill, but seriously: A divorce is still better than suicide.

It does seem quite bizarre when you compare the two situations. People wanting to take care of the already-existing children in desperate need of a home and family have to do so much to prove themselves first and can still be denied for bogus reasons, but any two random fertile people of the opposite sex can just go ahead and pop out as many kids as they want no matter how unprepared or unsuitable they are to be in charge of raising a tiny human, or how many children they've previously lost custody of due to abuse/neglect.

Agreed, the double standard is insane. And the closes thing I had to a girlfriend was this one coworker with some emotional attachment issues, who fell in love with 5 people over the course of a 5 day work week. Maybe there could be a kind of school model where expecting parents, or people who plan on having children, can learn what they need to know over a 3 month period, and if they pass the final exam, the "school" covers the medical fees for the delivery and whatnot. Also, maybe there could be a Parent Assistance Course of some sort, where people who know expecting parents can learn how to help them once the baby is there. They wouldn't get anything out of it right away, but they'd build up credit for the parenting course, making it easier to pass the exam if they ever have children.

There are MANY issues with the way sex ed is handled, however simply saying it is inadequate is misleading, i do not remember it, but i am certain all of the info on that powerpoint was likely thorough and accurate. but then again, what do i know? it was 6th freaking grade and sex was the last thing on my damn mind, let alone the reproductive facts of a girls body. the condoms were stretchy and could be inflated, that was far far more interesting to my 6th grade brain at the time maybe because i was a freaking kid. who knows.
@TheNicolevertone Жыл бұрын
@thezyreick4289 OK. A few things off the top of my head. Info for Sex Ed could be updated annually. It could be rolled into Career and Personal Planning (Homeroom) classes, which tends to be a bit of a loss for most people anyways as a lot of schools literally just have you fill out an outdated sheet-book. It needs to cover more information for boys and girls than just basic cycles, like why health checks are important. There could be a class on the legalities of consent for men and women (because that goes both ways) with a cop. There could be pamphlets on resources outside of the school. I mean, there are a disturbing number of educated adults who don't even understand how a hymen works. There are a lot of physical things women aren't prepared for regarding their own bodies regarding what is or isn't normal. I imagine this is true for guys as well.

People can't say that morality is a choice, deprive people of the tools and information to make rational decisions, and then blame them for poor decision-making, calling them immoral. As a bit of bad-but-funny-woman's-anatomy, in the Middle Ages, the Church believed that both participants needed to orgasm for conception to happen. Ergo, a woman could take her husband to a Church court and divorce him for not giving her orgasms. There is evidence of this happening. In one case a woman alleged her husband couldn't get it up, and the court - headed by priests, mind you - called in an "expert witness" i.e. a prostitute, to test if this was true. When the lady of negotiable virtue had failed to "quicken" the husband, the court found in the wife's favour.

Today the artists are so poorly paid and have such little time to finish their scenes that it's amazing things don't look even more dog shit than they already do.

17:28 I never expected Lagoon to appear in one of these videos. This comment is somewhat irrelevant to the video, but fun fact: Lagoon is the best theme park in Utah. It has a 200 ft tall rollercoaster called Cannibal which is the second steepest in the USA, and it just has lapbars, and it's awesome from what I've heard. And it also has Wicked, which has a vertical launch and a wicked first half but a somewhat boring second half. And Rollercoaster has some good airtime, and Colossus has some strong positive G-forces.

I struggle to imagine how a genuinely loving partner who's been cheated can be satisfied by such a petty act of revenge and why a cheater would submit to such a "prove of trust" after he cheated. I have a bad feeling that she is an abusive partner who manipulates and controls her partner. This tattoo would certainly be an effective way to make him dependent on her. He won't find another relationship with this on his chest. I'm not saying that he's definitely the victim here, but I can't see a way how someone who demands their partner get such a tattoo made is an innocent, good person! Either he's a cheater and she's a monster for going way out of line with this punishment, Or he's innocent and she's a monster controlling, gaslighting and publicly humiliating him.

“man charged with blasphemy for not removing sandals while using rainbow crosswalk” I know that the Babylon Bee is a satire website (I used to follow them when I was a teenager), but the lack of self-awareness is hilarious to me. Not only have I never met a queer person who would take anything so simple to that extreme, but this makes me think of (A) hardcore American patriots who demand respect for the flag and think it’s illegal to not treat it a certain way, and (B) that Old Testament story where Moses is told to take his shoes off while he’s on holy ground, which some churches enforce (or at least strongly encourage) only wearing non-leather shoes. Both of those examples….are associated with groups more closely aligned with the views of BB’s writers than with LGBTQIA+ people 🤡

21:00 Yea, I did a paper over it... There were several studies where they actually found the VAST MAJORITY of participants (including kids) had less violent outbursts altogether. There was like a VERY small amount of participants (like 1 out of a thousand or something) where there was some effect... Of course those people that were supposedly affected already had bad home lives, mental issues, and varying other degree of outside influence of some kind of violence... To the point they couldn't tell if it was the person's life or the game leading them to violence, but the overall conclusions were that video games actively helped reduce violence in kids and young adults as the games provided a safer outlet for their frustrations... The people that media claims that "games made them violent" already had varying issues of psychosis and mental problems that they just skirt over. One famous example is the "Man thinks he's in GTA" headlines from 2013. He had multiple warrants out for his arrest for possession of drugs and would commit multiple cases of car-jacking and vehicular assault while on the run. It should be noted that he was also HEAVILY under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. The articles BARELY make a point of his warrants or drug use while stressing things like "Just like out of the Grand Theft Auto games..." Another example is Columbine's Eric Harris. Everything he had done was symptoms of untreated mental illness, delusions of grandeur, and various other psychosis that were ignored and untreated. But what did media demonize at the time and blame for his conditions that manifested in his brain? The game "Doom" and of course the Metal music genre and the music artist Marilyn Manson. Why did they blame all these things? Because it was more convenient to point out "unusual things" about the guy. Thanks to media's pointing out of CORRELATION between someone and their hobbies/lifestyle, common forms of entertainment and stress relief are constantly attacked... I bet that if the ONLY form of stress relief were massages and spa days that those would be blamed for violent crimes as well... Edit: I just looked up massages and crime and there is a correlation between massages and sexual assaults as well as massage parlors being blamed for trafficking and kidnapping (those cases seem to be valid though) but all it would take is media going "Kidnapping and trafficking happening at massage parlors? More about it at 6"
