r/Idontworkherelady You may think that you've seen the peak of Karen entitlement, but you ain't seen nothing yet. The Karen in today's episode attacks OP and rips part of his skin, causing OP to bleed on Karen. Karen flips out and screams at him for bleeding on her, and wants him fired for what he did. When you work in restaurants or retail, it happens a LOT. I’ve had customers grab me so hard they bruised me, then they act like I’m being horrible by telling them to unhand me. Some entitled people see retail and restaurant workers as little more than robots that exist solely to wait on them hand and foot. They don’t see employees as fellow humans, but as objects.

Brenda Miranda Not all the food sucks , as someone who spent half of my life in there. The two hospitals I would transfer in between food was super super good. It was like a restaurant menu too, I always picked my comfort food which was grilled cheese and tomato soup and I just remember it melting in my mouth. Sometimes I crave the exact thing lol. I was in the ICU for suicidal overdoses and sometimes the food was the only thing that made me want to wake up. Psychiatric hospital food tho , was freaking horrible , absolutely disgusting

The title story (bleeding on Karen) was impressively well-written! The use of metaphors and similes, correct grammar/spelling/punctuation... they were a massively refreshing change from the usual onslaught of half-assed posts we're made to muddle through in order to get a good story. Yeah, the stories themselves were as exciting as overtime in game seven, but the effort put into HOW this one was written was a breath of fresh air.

One of my best friends worked retail for all of 3 months, he hated so much. He quit after his manager complied with a Karen's insane request to return a opened (but granted, unused) Xbox 360 because her precious angel didn't like the colour (it was a white gen 1 version). The Karen wanted to exchange it, at no extra cost, for the more expensive Elite version which was black and had better hardware because my friend had "deceived" her (surprise, he actually explained exactly what she was paying for and the colour of the console was on the box). The manager wrote him up, and tried to get him to agree to pay the difference out of his pay cheque (the difference was about £90, not much to many people, but to someone on minimum wage that's a fortune). My friend said to him "I don't get paid enough to take this [expletive]" took his work ID, tossed at his manager and walked out. Left the manager a man down on a Saturday (aside from big game release days, the busiest day of the week). He got a job working as a rubbish (U.S. garbage) collector for the council within a week. He loves it because no one complains at him for doing his job and he paid alot more than minimum wage for it. He say the only downside is his girlfriend doesn't let him anywhere near her untill he showers after a shift.

I worked at a target in the early 2000’s (graveyard) but during the holiday season I would work OT in the morning. (I met the nastiest customers at target) By Christmas time I would be in no eff’s given mode and return their “courtesy”, right after me being a dick I would clock out. As I was leaving I would sometimes see them complaining to a lead or manager.....they never would get my name because I would always wear a new employees badge that was left hanging for them between the employee lounge and lockers. Good times...... Lead: ma’am what was the issue? Karen: one of your employees called me a bitch. Lead: what really, I’m sorry for that, did you get his name by any chance, what does he look like? Karen. His badge said “kelly”, he was a tall fuck, bald and looks like he just got out of prison. Lead:??? Umm let.... Karen: what are you going to do about it you better fuckn fire him or I’m going to fuckn sue you and you’ll be homeless.... Lead: ma’am if you’re going to act like this I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you to leave the store. Karen: fuck you!!!! I’m never coming back here again. I never got question on my next shift.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The Karen from that last story probably did have the last laugh, I don't know why but that tacky, bedazzled crap sells really well. I had a cousin who wanted some extra spending money when she was 16. So she bought a cheap one of those gizmos that you use punch the rhinestones, a bunch (about 50 of them) of cheap Primark (a discount cloths retailer in the U.K.) t-shirts, got to work and sold them on Ebay (this was before Etsy was a thing). She listed them at twice what she paid for the materials, and when the last one sold, a bidding war had driven the price up to 5 times her material costs, realising she was on to something she just kept going with it, she worked a couple of hours after school during the week, recruited a couple of friends to work for her and would list them every Saturday. They would sell out by Sunday morning. She made enough money to pay for university, with living expenses and the occasional weekend of partying. The funny thing was she couldn't believe people wanted to buy that crap. When she got her degree (she wanted to be an accountant, go figure), she just handed of the brand to one of the friends who worked for her (she is a stay at home mom, so that type of business was perfect for her) and last I heard it was still making decent money.

I feel sorry for the guy in the hospital, but hospital food is not crunchy for a reason: crunchy food breaks down into tons of separate little pieces and are a risk for aspiration (breathing the pieces instead of swallowing them). Soft food sticks together and all goes down in a lump, or at least can be suctioned from the airway more easily. Similarly, hospitals are so damned cold because 1) it makes it more difficult for bacteria to grow, and 2) people are less likely to vomit when it's cold. The more you know. 🌈🦋

This is why it’s good to hear BOTH sides of the story and not judge the person who didn’t faint until they can explain themselves. If I was OP, I would choose a different store to shop at, because those employees/managers are beyond stupid.

"I ended up doing a lot of work that lawyers normally handled..." That's...illegal. They should have been disbarred for that. 😨 I used to be a Legal Assistant and there was a LOT I wasn't allowed to do. Things you'd think were pretty minor could have been misinterpreted as practicing law without a license and my bosses could have been disbarred. We weren't even allowed to read a statue verbatim to anyone out loud or hear their whole story when they called the office for a consult, even though our office did screen calls that way anyway -- pretty risky.

I love when people draw blood and then pass out. The only time a man drew blood when hitting me, this happened. When he fainted, the only thing more “manly” than hitting a female, he ended up hurting himself really bad (shrugs). When he regained consciousness, I stood over him, on the phone with the police and let my blood drip on to him. He fainted again. He did tell to use the blood on him as ‘evidence’ I ‘deserved it’ and ‘attacked him first’. The officers told him under no uncertain terms was there any reason to cause my bruises, my bloody lip and that it was obvious the physical damage was not even the worse of it. I was physically ok. I had been through worse.

With regard to the first story, I once worked for a company that had the best boss I've ever had - I learned so much from that guy. He did, however, have a bit of spiteful streak at times - never towards me, but he did have this thing that every time someone handed in their notice, he would find a reason to fire them before their notice period was up. I think he just couldn't stand the idea of someone leaving on their own terms.

I have GI issues that send me to the hospital every few months and I can confirm that the places where they put the IV, namely in the wrists, hands and feet, can hurt for DAYS after being taken out and wrapped. While most close up rather quickly, blood thinners can make that "rather quickly" turn into a long time. When she said the woman grabbed her wrist where her IV had been ALL of my IV scars started hurting all at once. NEVER grab where a person's IV has been, it freaking hurts!

What I love about that last story is that it really illustrates the shaky legal ground that a lot of Etsy-style creators are on. It's not just that this woman doesn't understand how merchandising and reselling work, but she also fails to understand Copyright and Trademark. By taking recognizable brands, altering them, and then trying to resell them she is on very shaky legal ground and could be sued for serious money, not just the few hundred dollars of her rhinestone-encrusted merchandise. Messing with trademarks is a good way to get in trouble with lawyers who make more in a week than you do in a year.

the bedazzling lady, it sounds like a misguided attempt at something called shop-dropping, droplifting, or reverse shoplifting, although I don't think she quite understood how it works. I've seen it done by unpublished authors & poets hiding copies of their books on shelves in bookstores and libraries, and by musicians putting their CDs on shelves in music stores. All these people are just trying to gain more exposure for their art, not expecting any sort of financial reward from the store.

@@anna8328 same basic idea, just an idiot that thinks the store is going to pay them for it. Droplifting demo CDs can be quite successful for promoting bands, better than fliers and posters, throwing out a couple of hundred demo discs more than doubled the turnout at live events when we tried it.

I had an experience at a job where I was fired from a job 1 hour into the work day. Then my boss had the audacity to remind me not to forget to turn in my ID at the end of the work day. I said, I'm fired, now, right? She said yes. I removed my ID and put it on her desk and told her to return it herself as I no longer had access to the office I needed to go. She was furious. The nerve of her to think I would work a full day after just getting fired makes me chuckle to this very day.

The necklace story reminded me of this. One of my best friends and I were at an outlet mall in our town and we went into one of the more expensive stores just to browse. We couldn’t afford anything in there but we were curious. I ended up finding a necklace laying on one of their displays with no price tag at all so I took it to an employee and politely said “excuse me, I found this necklace with no price tag”. She practically yanked it out of my hand without even saying thank you. I was PISSED. That necklace had no price tag on it so I could’ve easily decided to pocket it and walk out and she would’ve been none the wiser but i tried to do the right thing and she acted like a witch. Maybe my friend and I didn’t look like her usual clientele so she was being snobby but still!
