Most of the clickbait headlines made it look like the guy was a kid or teen and he lost some playboys - he's in his early 40's, had to move back home temporarily after a divorce in 2017 and after 10 months of living there his parents decided to just toss most of his "adult" belongings out - including a sizeable number of (presumably expensive) sex-toys. They stole several tens of thousands of dollars worth of his personal belongings and threw it away without asking - the fact that it was porn is incidental.

Our mom used to scare us for fun growing up. She'd laugh her butt off. We are in our thirties and forties and still have trauma associated with some of the things she did. For instance, my mom pretended to abandon me. Just left me at the store. Scare me to death and left me in tears. My mom laughed at my fear when she returned. Now I'm still afraid of someone leaving me behind and not knowing where they went. My mom still refuses to acknowledge she traumatized us. She keeps saying it was just fun and we took it too seriously. We. Were. Children.

The one thing I'm glad about is that we can all come together and make fun of these awful people, still giving some kind of hope to their children that people still do care about their well-being.
@darylcarr82833 жыл бұрын
The challenge is helping their children "un-learn" the poison shovel-fed to them by their "primary influences." Sometimes peer pressure and common sense helps, but at some level they're having to surrender their "self-identity" and they can understandably become naturally resistant to that. That's why we have ignorant people chanting "heritage not hate" over their support of waving the Confederate flag; refusing to acknowledge that it was created as a "heritage OF hate."

Here’s a story of good parents being skeptical of a doctor in a healthy way to balance things out: When I was a toddler, my parents noticed something and a specialist doctor said they might be able to fix it with surgery. My parents were unsure about this, since there was some risk involved in giving surgery to a toddler. Instead of taking care of it themselves or just ignoring it, though, they decided to get a second opinion from another doctor (crazy, right?). He said the issue was a symptom of something psychological (I don’t remember exactly what and I’m not an expert). Whatever the case, it turned out he was right and we got the treatment I needed. In other words, it’s okay to get a second opinion from a different doctor about treatment for your child as long as it’s an actual medical expert and the kid gets what they need.
@simransimran93393 жыл бұрын
As a doctor's kid I'll just point out that it's always good to get a second, third and even a fourth opinion if you need it. Just go to a doctor. Not a witch doctor or something. Though I'll point out, I'm Indian and ayurvedic medicine has been around me forever. And most of it is effective. It's just less processed medicine. My mother is a medical doctor ( the modern kind) but she's of the opinion that ayurvedic/oriental medecine can definitely help some people, particularly those with chronic issues. //homophobia, transphobia, anti-LGBTQ christianity I was at a religious camp over the summer, and towards the end of the week, we had these lessons (I actually enjoyed the camp a lot - gave me medieval vibes) and most of them were really positive! Self-love and believing in your worth! Basic self-defense! Yeah! But the last lesson I attended was about sexuality, and that just tanked my whole mood and my opinion of the camp leader who gave it (especially since she was talking about feeling compelled to make that her topic, and she had this story about how no one else wanted to, so, hurrah). I'm not gonna explain her take simply because we all know the Christian anti-LGBTQ stuff, but I remember the thing that pissed me off the most was her *"examples."* A cis friend who took transitioned simply because she wanted to get more respect in industry (she was a mechanic) - regretted it and tried to go back. That's it. That's the only example. Urged folks that they were absolutely not trans (which is just untrue and really pissed me off). A friend who may or may not have been a lesbian? Acted in a pretty butch way and was never hit on by guys. Fell for this one girl and started proclaiming all over the Internet that she was lesbian. Married for some years, and then they divorced. That's it. That's the only example. Urged folks that they absolutely did not experience same-sex attraction (also very untrue and pissed me off even more). I actually made a friend there who's pan, and we had gotten along the day of those lessons at breakfast over similar interests. She completely disagreed with that lesson as well, and struggled a lot because she *was* religious, but didn't feel welcome because of who she loved. I didn't believe in any religion at the time, so I wasn't hurt too badly, but that friend,,,,,, geez, that hit different. /neg Anyways, LGBTQ folks? You're absolutely valid. Don't care what anyone else says, it's the truth. If you're religious, listen to your religion as it truly is, and not to the people who hold bigoted beliefs and twist the words into something they're not. Best of luck out there. Stay strong.

The first and last time i went to a youth group everything seemed pretty chill, they had a live band and snacks and played games and everyone was in a fairly pleasant mood. Until they gave a talk about sex ed. They gave the group a anonymous text line where they could ask questions without people knowing who asked. Toward the end one of the last messages was simply, "im pansexual does this mean god hates me?" They responded with "of course not because you can change." And went into a story about how the one guy there had urges to cheat on his wife with guys and that he had to fight those urges and how as long as god knows you truly want to change and you put the effort in you can get better just like him. Safe to say as a pansexual myself i was quite upset by this and spent the rest of the night very quiet and a bit angry. Personally religion is one of the things if not the thing that makes me most uncomfortable, i never know who will hate me, i never know who will try and force it on me or insult me over it.

Yes and no. Yes don't let Jesus Camp define everyone's sexuality. But what if your religion is TRULY bigoted and homophobic, and it's not just a few people who share your religious beliefs? What if your religions are actually just plain Wrong? And if they're wrong about sexuality, what else might they be wrong about? Like education, medicine, environment, or science? Every religion believes that all the other religions are wrong. So it's pretty easy to take it a tiny step farther and see that they're all just wrong. You don't need it. Invent your own religion. And then become a heretic to your own religion! And then kick yourself out of your own religion! See, isn't that better?

Just have someone tightly restrain you and you will most likely relax enough so that the needle doesn't do anything it's not supposed to do. 2:38 I believe Junji Ito wrote a horror manga about a similar premise; it's about a girl who began bullying this boy to get him to leave her alone, and her bullying escalated to the point where she got him mauled by a dog. Years later, the two reunite and the girl, now woman, tries to apologize to him, but he only looks back fondly on their childhood, and so the two start dating, eventually getting married and having a son. Then the guy disappears, and no one can find him, leaving the woman alone with their child who is now around the age his father was when his mother bullied him. The woman realizes that this was her husband planned revenge all along; to leave her as a single mom with a kid, but she doesn't care, because she realizes how much she has missed bullying her husband, and now there is no one who can stop her from doing the same to her son.

Funny story about how a kid's mind work: I watched "the mummy" when I was 6 for the first time and was so chocked about the little scarabs that go into people's skin that I start to cover my entire body with blankets with fear that they come at night. I get very warm and mom tried to made me stop but I quickly learn how to do it in a comfortable way and she simply give up. "The Mummy" was my favorite movie for a long long time and I loved ancient Egypt history. This made me even a bigger nerd. I'm pretty sure in the times of low supplies (like a war) our grandmothers could've used flour (from potatoes in case of my country) instead of baby powder or talc. I'm not sure if it's actually better than a manufactured powder. And why burning it?
@VitchAndVorty3 жыл бұрын
When I was a baby, my parents would do that to me. But, not with that amount. They actually only needed the warm sensation of the burnt flour, so they placed it in a handkerchief(and make it like a pouch) and just slowly rub it on the rash area. But, that was still a dark time(no internet, etc). I don't expect modern people to use this archaic method in this day and age...

10:36 The reason this woman’s baby is having all these bleeding and clotting issues is because vitamin K is a vitamin produced by gut bacteria that is responsible for helping the blood to clot and not bleed everywhere. Infants need vitamin K shots because they don’t have the gut bacteria that produces it yet. Many infants used to die because of this back in the days before vitamin K shots.
@katsu21103 жыл бұрын
I’m just speechless at that Karen mother that refused the vitamin K, this vitamin is literally used to avoid that new borns bleed to death with a hemorrhagic disease that can occur when the vitamin is not given to the new born as that vitamin literally keeps the baby body from bleeding to death as they have some difficulty with coagulation to stop a bleeding that also occurs because of the LACK of the vitamin, which unfortunately is common on newborns. I’m literally on my second year of medical education and we just had classes about this shit This is why people shouldn’t have autonomy to decide if they want or not to give their kids treatment for any kind of shit, and this is why in my country if a kid is not properly vaccinated and given the vitamins they need their parents are due to a medical visit on their fucking homes and CPS WILL be called if the kid/newborn was not given the proper health care they need. I agree that some people just shouldn't have children, but the trouble with deciding who is and who isn't allowed to have children is that it opens the door to eugenics, breeding for a "superior" race. That's never gone down very well when it's been tried before. Maybe there should be stricter laws on taking children away from abusive parents. But all the same, pets have more protection than children. People can be banned from owning pets if they abuse them, but if they abuse a child, it gets taken away and they just have another, and another.

23:09 Regarding the school attendance - totally agree. 100% attendance unless absolutely dying is really overstated. Letting your child take a day off from school is not the end of the world. But it also builds up the connection of being on your child's side when they ask for help, and that is super important. Kind of a lot of problems children have, grow from them not feeling confident in their ability to ask parents for help. And believe me, a child is not going to ask to stay at home every day. Or if they do, this should probably ring a huge bell in your head that something terribly wrong is happening in their school.

To that one mom who basically scared the living daylight out of her 3-year-old child, please don't do that. I had someone to take care of me as a kid while my parents were away, as my sister was also too young (but older). Every time I made a mistake she would lock me in my father's room or in the restroom. The restroom had no lights and the door was hard to open. My father's room was right next to a spare room which I was so scared of (all the ghosts and stuff). I couldn't reach the light there either; the door was also hard to open. This might sound weird, but we used to have ZERO locks on any of our doors back in our old house. The place we stayed was so old and we were only renting it, making the experience much more terrifying for me. Though the door can be opened at any time as they had no locks, I was a kid with no physical strength and willpower to open a door that had just been shut to keep me away. She would also sometimes tie the doorknob from outside to something heavy so even though there are no locks, I can't open the door if I tried to. Fast forward a few years later, I'm STILL afraid of the dark and ghosts. I always make sure I'm not the last to go to the restroom before bed so I won't have to turn off any lights. The dark is where I find both comfort and fear. Every time I'm alone, I need the TV on to distract me despite being on my phone. When I close my eyes in the dark, it's as if someone is staring at me. I'm easily startled and angered. There are limits to everything, it's not quirky to scare someone THAT young. Childhood trauma at its finest yeet

I broke two teeth at the start of the pandemic and haven't been able to get to a dentist because I happen to live in a hot spot zone that's VERY conservative (hair place, quite literally: "Oh, I was really sick last week, but I can set you up for a haircut tomorrow if you want."), so I can't trust the locations very well, so the amount of time I have been spending on toothpaste and mouthwash to keep it clean is probably keeping things from getting too bad, but yikes, I can't wait until it's safe to get my teeth taken care of. I'm vaccinated (had no side effects either, so I might be an asymptomatic if I hypothetically caught it), and so is my Mom, but she has some health problems that I'm concerned about letting the virus jump from me to her, so I don't feel comfortable with leaving my mouth open for hours in an area that's full of people who think the vaccine is a job. Oh, but by all means, Karen, it's totally an inconvenience that you gotta wear a piece of cloth on your face.
@thatguybrody48193 жыл бұрын
i mean if you are fully vaccinated, they said you don't have to. then again they can't seem to make up their mind on what the hell to do. seeing as how covid rules seem to change seemingly on a dime and lord and savior fauci committing perjury in court.

Hey, so I have a question. Is it "insane parenting" when they basically force you to watch horror movies and laugh when you're scared? Because like, I don't know if they actually realize that it's kind of scarring, and I wouldn't wanna ruin anyones day. But I can't really handle noises in darkness or watching horror movies now. Is that trauma or am I just sensitive?
@SingingSealRiana6 ай бұрын

I like the concept of a license to have kids but u just know they’d warp it so certain people (lgbt, poc, etc) would be more restricted lmao… maybe there should be more freely available parenting classes or other information? Or even certain classes could be required before leaving the hospital or before adopting a child? Idkk i’m just brainstorming lol

I have an extreme fear of needles too, and I also nearly passed out getting the second shot. But I got the vaccine anyways, I'm proud I was brave enough to face my fear of needles. I was able to be brave because I understand how important it is. In the grand scheme of things my fear is insignificant, even if I do pass out.

Skipping school is really hard when you have a doctor as a mom. As a child I could never make up something to get out of school, when I was like "I have a headache" my mom was like "then take some pain medication". 😅 On the other hand, when I was actually sick my mom actually knew what to do, or went to the doctor with me. So, I got the better end, I guess. 😂

1:57 My dad made an FB post that was basically "so BLESSED to be married to this BEAUTIFUL woman! It feels like I've been wandering my whole life and now I'm home! Happy one year anniversary!" The next week he told me over dinner that "yeah she destroyed my brand new truck bc I work with other women, we're getting divorced."

So, my mom has always loved watching the ID Channel, which is a bunch of murder mysteries and investigations. When I was little, maybe 4 or 5, she was watching late one night and I begged her to turn it down cause I could hear it all the way from my room bit she didn't listen. I still remember the story of a girl kidnapped/killed at her car late one night outside a mall, it traumatized me then to the point of learning about things like lions scared me. I believe it still impacts my fear and anxieties today, 15 years later. So yes, scaring a little kid or letting them hear/watch scary/gory stuff is so bad and I wish my mom would have listened cause I think I could be less scared of little things and of being kidnapped in situations I'm normally not in. Ps, I guess I learned something today about myself from Click
