I remember grade 11 basic math. I remember typically finding it much easier to condense equations in my head and 'skip steps', sometimes all the written work entirely, because I wanted to put the CORRECT answer on the page. I remember being marked 1/5 or 2/5 on questions and consistently failing homework and tests due to putting down the correct answer. I remember an argument about this with my teacher. Over the course of this arguement, she stated that (A) It was important for me to understand how to go through the steps (B) it would be important for me to be able to do every minute thing when harder problems come up and (C) that the purpose of her class was to prepare me for later life. I shot back that (A) Clearly I did or I wouldn't be consistently giving her the correct answers (B) When the problems get more complex, I jot down checkpoints t keep track of each stage but most of these are so simple it is legitimately easier to do it in my head and (C) You show me one employer out there who would be more concerned I show them every inane step I took to reach their calculation than with me giving them the correct answer. Because here's the thing. My ADHD riddle brain would get jumbled and confused when I was forced to slow down and constantly re-examine the same section of the equation 3 times so I can jot down each and every individual step along the way. Inevitably I would make a mistake on some small part of the calculation because you are making me do something I did successfully the first time 3 or 4 times over.... which would result in me getting the wrong answer. And getting 3/5 or 4/5 on a question I ANSWERED INCORRECTLY. What >REALLY< aggrivated me, was when the teacher put what I imagine to be a genuine but I couldn't help but read as a condescending 'congratulations' on my test for 'improving', after to demonstrate the issue I did as they asked and scored higher on a test with more than half the final calculations wrong than on the test where I got every calculation correct.... then a bit advising I take more time on my work.... Which I do.... and proceed to hand in a test that was barely half completed but entirely correct..... and got a note about 'managing my time better'. AND PEOPLE WONDER WHY I HATE MATH!

Yeah. That's a regular criticism of the current education system. Doesn't allow for creative thought for the exact same answers. Despite having so many options (which may actually be better), you have to follow the stupidly specific way the curriculum does it. There's a reason why younger children are generally more creative than adults, they don't have the extremely rigid subconscious thought that's engrained into us. When I think about it. I'm sure I've been marked down for reversing numbers. The same exact answer though. I'm not anti-education by any stretch (I finished university after all). But the system does need drastic changes. Especially since employers go on about wanting workers who can think creatively).

@@noobmaster5411 The main reason was to limit obesity. Money has pretty much nothing to with that. Soda and most other non-alcoholic drinks are inexpensive for restaurants. That's why free refills are a quite common practice around the world. What free refills do however is entice you to stay and drink a bunch of sugar cause "might as well make the most of it". This also gives a terrible habit to the youth and is an important factor on why junk food and obesity are so prevalent in the US since there is nothing to prevent such practice. We all know that too much sugar is bad for your health, that sodas have way too much sugar and that sodas and kids are not a good blend. If anything, that law impacted negatively the restaurants that used to offer free refills as they lost a part of their appeal. I'm pretty glad that our governement is involved in our well being and regulates such things. And let's be real, we still get way too much soda with our meals anyway, in fast-foods at least.

Thus the 9 goes back down to 0, and the 2_ becomes 3_. So 29 becomes 30. Does that make sense? It's kinda difficult to put into words. However, I definitely don't feel like this work sheet did a good job of explaining it. I assume it makes more sense, if you've already been taught the intended approach in class, but it still seems needlessly confusing.

7:56 For people angry that the forest is uh... taking up too much space, they sure chose a pïšś poor picture. "Lets turn this *majestic* scenery into a barren dusty set of hills/mountain! K thx pls". I'd have chosen a far more boring picture.

when I had roommates we had the 12 hours / brim rule. each got their own sink, everyone has to clean their shit no more than 12 hours after they're done or if it can't be contained in the sink itself. anyone failing to do so or caught tampering with the other's sinks (fuck you mike) is promptly executed. by which I mean he has to wash everyone's stuff

5:50 my biggest issue with gender reveals is that most parents will be like "oh there's gonna be a gender reveal parry and then a baby shower and then a party once it's born" but really it should be ons single celebration. Like fill up a balloon with some paper confetti and pop it at the baby shower and be done with it.

11:57 that remembers me of a time in middle school, hot September day, the doors didn't open, they refused to let us go another way, we have lockers to get our stuff and still while chanting let us it they would refused to until the doors were fixed and would not let us another way. Just to say lightly 100 kids were late, some sunburned, and a lot of Unhappy parents

14:09 we use that exact same dogs*** program at school and it's legitimately garbage. Won't go into detail, but it's geared towards younger kids and older students should be using some of the much better programs available. The questions are almost never the right level of difficulty, either well above your year level, too complicated for you to understand and getting you to search external sources for guidance or too easy. I'd go on about it further but I won't.

It's just the brake cable, you can take it off and reattach it with a screwdriver. Mildly -infuriating- annoying, but not a big deal. Of course, it'd serve the person right if their bike got scratched up a bit while you were messing with the brake cable. Maybe your screwdriver slips and punctures a tire...
@gabrieljohnson63043 жыл бұрын
You know what's mildly infuriating? People who assume everyone's looking at the same part of the video as them and don't put a time stamp or clearly indicate what they're talking about in their comment.
@StandardGoose3 жыл бұрын
It takes mere moments to unscrew and then reattach a brake cable though.
