As someone who used to work for CVS, when you see tags priced at $999 like that, that means the item was not properly added to the system. Corporate sends prices to the stores automatically and didn't put that one in right. There's a way to fix it, but I bet whoever added it to the shelf didn't care to fix it (or know how)
@Ryanthusar Жыл бұрын
That would be because the person that added it to the shelf saw it as being "not their job." meaning it wasnt someone from manglement and was a low paid worker who was just told to put the tags out, and considering state laws of "everything must be priced" which then override having a correct price tag there, then having such a priced tag on the shelf is better than none at all. The only problem you have then is is if the item costs more than the $999 tag, which I doubt would be the case with it being CVS.
@Slimegunk Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I wasn't judging the worker for it. Believe me I know cvs doesn't pay enough lol. Though that being said, some states do have laws that require the *correct* price to be in place that override "everything must be priced" type laws. Usually in these cases tho the item in question doesn't ring up at all, sometimes they ring up correctly though if the price was fixed without a new tag being printed@@Ryanthusar
@FuriousMaximum10 ай бұрын
That price is sometimes a workaround for the rampant shoplifting in San Francisco. They refuse to prosecute theft under $1000, so they make the price that much, and then input a "coupon" to the normal price for paying customers.

16:24 There are multiple types of menorahs, and a hannukkiah is the single word name for a hanukkah menorah. The issue there is the way the candles are lit. It can be argued in that case that either side is the correct side to put the candles on since you don't really know what the front is (you're supposed to put the candles on from right to left, aside from the one in the middle). However, lighting the far left, far right, and middle one will always be wrong.

7:40 according to wikipedia, general duct tape can't fix heating/cooling air ducts but there are specialised types that can. Apparently "duct tape" is just a broad generalized term for tape that "is cloth- or scrim-backed pressure-sensitive tape, often coated with polyethylene". It was originally called "duck tape" because they used to be made out of "duck cloth" (or "cotton duck") which is a type of fabric and was originally developed during WW2. Apparently it started to be called "duct tape" because it became common to use in construction to wrap air duct in it. Most of what I typed were direct quotes from the duct tape wikipedia page or paraphrasings of it. I encourage everyone who is interested to also take a look at the page the history of duct tape and its applications is kinda interesting.
@PrototypeSpaceMonkey Жыл бұрын
It wasn't because it started to get used for ducts, but because the Duck Tape company trademarked the name so other tape companies couldn't use it anymore. They started to call it "Duct Tape" mainly to get around the trademark, because it sounded similar.
@grants7390 Жыл бұрын
the proper tape to use on air ducts is aluminum HVAC tape. It's made specifically to be permanent and heat and cold resistant. Using duck tape for this will cause it to react to the temperature and not last as long or the adhesive to melt.

The answer about the dog attack story is simple. That wasn't an emotional support dog. Or an assistance dog of any kind. Those are *properly trained* to never attack people. I guarantee you that was one of those fake dogs that the student just slapped a vest on to be able to take it to school with them. And then that backfired heavily. They'll be arrested IMMEDIATELY if the cops don't find any paperwork about its certification, and I greatly presume they'll be expelled as well for violating guidelines about untrained pets. ...Or the school will go the shitty, lazy route, and no longer allow guide dogs, and then EVERYONE loses because of one asshole who couldn't have their "precious pupper" at home for five minutes. If anyone comments about it being an aggressive dog breed, no. That's not the problem. It all depends on training and competence. No dog breeds are more or less aggressive than others, ya just have to get lucky or train em well.

Additional information about service animals and emotional support animals: ESA are NOT service animals. They are not trained like service animals nor do they have the legal protections and rights a service animal has. ESA are nothing more than pets with a fancy title that the owners themselves placed upon them. They are fake service animals. Are they comforting to their people? Yes. Does that give them the right to go everywhere a service animal does? No. Depending on where this incident took place, service animals do not require certification/do not have specific certification to prove their status as a service animal. There is no national registry in the U.S, despite what people think. It's actually surprisingly difficult to prove an animal is indeed a service animal. Coupled with the sheer volume of assholes out there that will slap a service animal vest on their untrained, unsocialized, aggressive, yapping little bastard dogs and let them cause absolute mayhem in grocery stores, it's no surprise that people with legitimate service animals have such a difficult time just trying to go about their business with their dogs being constantly harassed or denied access.

(I think I've already commented this before on a different video, but it doesn't hurt to restate helpful information) a Hanukkiah is a Menorah specifically used for Hanukkah candles. It has 9 branches and the one in the center is a different height than the others that are all level with each other, where a Menorah has 7 branches and there is no difference in height between all of them. The candles in a Hanukkiah are lit from right to left, adding one each night until the eighth night where they're all light. The only exception to the right to left thing is the Shamash which is the candle that sits in the center, used to light the other candles with. The Hanukkiah at 16:20 is both uneven *and* has the candles being lit symmetrically instead of on the right, and it makes me very angry to look at.

15:20 FUN FACT!: the average IQ of a dog is about 80, if a human has less then 8 genuinely feel sorry for them.
@midnight4685 Жыл бұрын
Ehhh that feels a bit wrong. Dogs and humans are tested completely differently, and considering the test is pattern recognition in humans and is a bunch of different topics for dogs (because the dog would not understand what different shapes would mean and be able to communicate what the next pattern should be). "IQ" is a different thing from "Dog Intelligence", anything listed as "Dog IQ" is not the same scale as human IQ (e.g. a dog with a 100 IQ would not be of average human intelligence), so any attempts to quantitatively compare them doesn't work. There's just no common ground, unless you ran the same tests with humans of them recognising and picking up toys and recognising bigger food bowls - which humans would absolutely destroy dogs at. IQ as a measure of general intelligence is pseudoscience, it's a good measure of basic pattern recognition but doesn't predict skill or even talent in many areas linked to intelligence. The closest measure we have of dog intelligence is that they are of the approximate mental ability of a human two year old, which is certainly not what an IQ of 80 looks like - and this is just an estimation of dog intelligence. Intelligence is just such a nebulous concept that you can't put a number to it and say 'everyone above this number is smart and everyone below is stupid'. Even IQ can only capture one tiny fragment of intelligence, and even that is heavily affected by test methods.

So Im guessing this is a badly translated chinese ad about mugwort scented shoe inserts?

16:22... Edit: hmm learned something new, I always thought that the candelabra used for Chanukah/Hanukkah was just a 9 candled menorah (which it is but a menorah is only 7 candles) so I just thought it was called a menorah, but it turns out that the name for the 9 candled menorah is hanukkiah. I mean it doesn't surprise me odds are due to just a sheer lack of any effort put in it was taught in schools to be a menorah just because it looks like a menorah with 2 extra candles and so never actually looked at the real name.

The mental gymnastics of Robin saying we need to stop using Reddit, while this channels entire existence is based on reading/reacting to reddit posts is hilarious to me. It's like an oil rig worker saying we need to get off fossil fuels. It's true and a good point, but just weird considering the source

Star Wars being political isn’t the problem, the real problem is the hamfisted handling of it. Rey had SO much potential but got pigeonholed into being a Mary Sue

16:35 OP 1) misspelled hanukkah, and 2) the actual candle stand is called a menorah, they light one candle each day of hanukkah, the picture was probably taken on day 3 of the tradition actually being followed properly.

16:20 its called a manora and they said second night because normally you light one candle the first night and so on.The thing that’s wrong here the middle candle is not supposed to be lit first and sometimes there inserted in the ground permanently.

0:36 British palestine was not a settler colony, it was just a mandate. also, the reason Albert Einstein was chosen to be the president is because in israel the president doesnt really have any power, so the only criteria to become the president was being zionist.

God I hate "emotional support animals" who are only there because their owner wanted their pet in a place that doesn't usually allow pets. Like please, if you want to try passing off your emotional support dog as necessary, at least do the training to get it to sit still and not be a distraction to others. Unless it's actively being taunted or attacked, no dog regardless of status should be attacking anything.

14:21 I've got a fun fact about IQ. The final number is a composite of 5 different scores, where each tests different brain functions like spacial awareness or reading comprehension. So the fun fact I learned, is that people with ADHD often perform abnormally poorly on the Working Memory test (in comparison to their other 4 scores), like 20 to 40 points lower. This high deviation in scores makes a composite IQ invalid. So people with ADHD often cannot get an IQ score.

About the last one. I work in a grocery store and I can explain. I work in a chain store that has two variants depending on location: grocery, and grocery +. Grocery + stores have toys, a pharmacy, clothes, etc. while the regular stores usually don't. Keyword being "usually". Because when you're under the same banner, share the same flyer and suddenly it's, let's say, black friday? Yeah you better believe the regular store have to have tvs in stock too. But where can they put the damn thingsso that they're "in view", but also out of reach of grabby thiefs? That's right. On top of the fridges. Makes corporate happy.

It's because, we thought the i ternet was complicated enough to be used, so the crazies won't be able to get connected. Never thought all the simplification it gets to day. Hell, we never thought that warehouse sized computing power can one day be fitted in our pockets.
