I respect the guy who made the engagement ring out of wood and gemstones, that shit means more then any crappy shiny rock that loses half it's value just by walking out the front door of the store ever could. He put time and effort into making that.

That's honestly really creative. If the person is the right one for me, I'd totally accept such a ring. For someone to spend valuable time and effort into something for me is like, my dream. It doesn't even have to be a physical object.

Engagement rings started off as a way for the man to prove that he has enough money to start a family, and it also serves as a backup in case they run short on money so they can sell the ring, now, It's just a way to scam Millenials.

It reminds me of the rings Xyla Foxlin made for her aviator friends out of a bunch of stuff, they came out incredible. Yeah no diamond in it, but having it lovingly made seems worth much more to me. (Oh and yeah, she made a video about it if you want to see the process and the meaning behind the ring)

My main concern would just be "Will this start to splinter over years and years of wearing it non-stop...?" The sentiment and care on display is phenomenal and I know woodworked goods can be very hardy, but sweat and skin oils *do* tend to be a bit corrosive...

A handmade ring is the ultimate in being spoiled. It shows that the person that made the ring loves the person that received the ring so much he put personal effort into creating it.
@jeltevl8868
@jeltevl8868 Жыл бұрын
its the idea behind it that counts not how much it cost. And no im not saying that because im a cheapskate or anything. Because even as a guy I prefer getting a birthday gift that showed whoever gave it to me cares over a very expensive thing that I never do anything with anyway. Anybody who refuses gifts with the reason that they are not expensive enough you should avoid and ignore imo.
@alyssamay9237
@alyssamay9237 Жыл бұрын
For real. I already think that rings are a scam, but if my boyfriend MADE me a ring, that'd melt my heart and I'd marry him twice on the spot. Plus, if your partner makes the ring, they have you completely in mind. They have your exact size, your preferences, and your lifestyle going into account. Also it's going to be much cheaper and that money can go towards something else, like a house or maybe the ceremony itself. Plus, there's no telling how much time and effort would go into a ring they made for you
@Emmett_Br0wn

Honestly I don't really believe in rings but if my partner made me a ring, I'm marrying them twice on the spot, that shit would take so much time and effort to make AND that they have you specifically in mind. People who don't accept cheap gifts are people you should ignore and/or avoid.

10:12 Diamond rings are a scam. In fact, the whole idea of an expensive wedding ring started as propaganda from the companies selling them. That handmade ring, which he put his own time and effort into rather than spending some empty currency on someone else's (or more likely a machine's) work, is a better demonstration of affection than the most expensive ring in the world. Anyone with a halfway decent job can save their money up. But putting your time, effort, and care into something is the closest you can get to giving someone a piece of yourself without getting weird.

SO REAL !! If i EVER get married, I don't want my partner to have to take out a mortgage for a damn rock. perhaps my least favorite part of all that is that diamonds are so cheap! We long ago mined them at a point their price should have plummeted and since then we've learned to make artificial diamonds so perfect that now rather then defects making a diamond worth less the "appraisers" rate flawless diamonds as cheaper because the artificail diamonds are actually superior but they could cut into the lucrative jewelry industries profits. At least with gold and other rare earth metals we have legit reasons for prices to be what they are but that ship sailed decades ago for most gemstones.

I disagree on the joking thing, but agree on the lying. It shouldn't be disrespectfully joked about, but if I wasn't laughing my ass off and cracking jokes when my thumb to my wrist got 2nd degree burns, I think I might have just died. Or at least crumbled into a crying mess. Jokes are good in moderation and when appropriate. If you burn yourself, make sure to immediately start laughing and asking yourself if your karma is shit.

3:36 I feel this one. Too many writers don't seem to realize that a story's quality isn't measured by its body count. Not only can it mess up the story because there's nobody left to move the plot forward, but it has diminishing returns. Keep killing characters off and the audience will see it coming, destroying the shock value. There also won't be as much pathos on their part, since they won't let themselves get attached to characters once they realize they're dead men walking. That's what turned me off of Attack on Titan and Akame ga Kill. They should take a cue from One Piece: Characters almost never die, not even villains, and the story is actually a lot better for it. Not only are they used for further storytelling, but because deaths are few and far between, the deaths that do happen actually have an impact. All the deaths in Game of Thrones don't have half the pathos that was poured into the funeral for the Going Merry...a SHIP. TL;DR: When it comes to character deaths, focus on quality, not quantity.

i'll never understand people like that but they're becoming increasingly common, especially in the US. I'm not a fan of Trump but his border wall, while not a silver bullet, actually made a lot of sense. Trumps wall was new in some sections but was also in large part either replacing old walls or supplementing existing sections of the border wall built under Democrats. Those Democrats were fine with the idea of a border wall when Clinton and Obama were in power and didnt mind too much when it was Bush but when Trump made it part of his election platform suddenly the idea of a border wall was wrong, if not evil, so they shut it down even though even the Democrats admit there's a crisis on the border. Republicans do the same thing too, people make a crisis or disaster political and once it becomes political peoples brains become disconnected.

My grandfather was a woodturner, and that ring would be something that he'd love to look at and maybe attempt himself. Besides, the effort going into making a ring like that instead of going out and buying one speaks louder than people'd realise. 11:36 In all seriousness, crosswalks are a really good idea. Sure, they were introduced for questionable reasons, but I think they definitely help. Especially in dark cities. Arizona has a lot of observatories, so certain cities, like Tucson and Flagstaff, stay darker at night than most cities. Oh YeAh, BiG dEaL, iT's DaRk At NiGht. But seriously, the dependence on lighting infrastructure is incredible. Tucson is a pretty large city, but it is eerily dark at night. It is a little unnerving to drive in. It can be hard to see things off the road. Imagine some guy just deciding to cross wherever. With crosswalks, there are limited, designated places where I can expect humans to be thanks to reflective signs. BuT wE cOuLd JuSt MaKe ThE wHoLe RoAd A cRoSsWaLk. Have you ever driven through a dense forest on a winding road and seen one of those "watch for deer" signs? Okay, so we know they are in this area now, that's good. But then a deer runs out into the road and everyone is still startled because nobody saw it coming. That is what crosswalks help to prevent, but with humans. The deer still go wherever. But the humans at least sometimes use them, definitely more than the deer would.

Women are made to forget the pain of childbirth afterwards so that they have more children, as childbirth is necessary for reproduction. So yes, some, not all like you're implying, bit some will say kidney stones because that's the pain their brains allow them to remember. And guess what? The few women who lack this gene not only report childbirth as the most painful experience of their lives, but they also tend to not have children again. Not to mention that women generally have higher pain tolerances than men, doesn't mean that it isn't still just as painful, they just deal with it better. This comparison is not very scientific, and does not provide the hard evidence that you seem to think it does. I think the question is silly anyway, as one will not be able to experience the pain of the other, so, especially all of the factors considered, a man cannot say how painful childbirth is, and a woman cannot say how painful a nut kick is. They're both painful, so let's stop unnecessarily pitting men and women against each other to see who has it "worse". We shouldn't have to minimize someone else's pain to talk about how severe ours is.
