I do it with a totally straight face and you can often see that little jolt of panic in their eyes. Usually they'll say "....... Erm, how do you spell that?". Some of them just scribble some random thing on the cup (which it usually amusing because my friend knows I do this, and I'll quietly snap a picture of their attempts and email the best ones to him every once and a while.
