Only Nambudri and Nair are separate light skinned castes, but we also have Ezhavar, Nadar, Thiyyar, Kurumbar, Paraiyar, Pulayar, Irular, Cholanaicker, Pillai, Mannadiyar, etc. Additionally, only formal Malayalam has more Sanskrit, bit vernacular Malayalam had more Tamil word usage. Also, you are correct. Modern Tamil adopted many words from other languages like Telugu. The word "chinna" used in Tamil I believe came from Telugu for example, when it's supposed to be "chiriya" like we use in Malayalam. Some places like Nellai uses "chiriya" but test of TN uses "chinna".

Really enjoyed the video!! Could you try a video series on Dravidian history? The co-existence of cheras, pandiyas, pallavas and chozhas. And then in detail about each of them, and finally a history of kerala in detail? I know I'm asking for a lot. 😬 But, having studied CBSE, which is pretty evidently biased towards the North of India, I was totally oblivious to the history of our side of the peninsula until a few years ago. I feel bad about the naïve state of mind most malayalees including myself are, on this regard. Since you have this amazing ability to explain any complex topic with full detail in the simplest of methods, I feel that such a video series from you will greatly benefit us malayalees as a whole for the years to come. It could also very well be used as study material for school and college students alike for history. I hope you consider this suggestion. ✌

Because the focus was on small, minor Mongolian/Turkic kingdoms in India in order to try and foster communal harmony between Hindus & Muslims. Not teaching history as facts/stories of the past.

I think there are not enough records to know more about these dynasties. Even in this video the information about the first cholas were mostly gathered from references from elsewhere ( Greek and Ashoka literature with the Sangam literature being an exception ). I guss the cholas couldn't care less about writing their own history 😄. And of course, there is enough information for atleast a chapter in NCERT. I guss the scholers and publishers (government ) couldn't care less about South-Indian history 😅.

I saw an article on Thalaialankanathu war where Koperum Chozhan and Mantharani Cheral Irumporai were defeated by Nedumchezhian of Pandyan dynasty. The year mentioned was 62 BCE. Pandyan king ruled over the whole of south India after this victory. Does your reserch has anything to add here?

@@easovarghese7775 Actually it was mentioned in Sangam poems(Tamil literary works) which was written from 300 BC to 300 AD. I respect Pandyas, Cheras and Cholas. Actually this trinity didn’t allowed Bindusara to enter in our regions easily. Even Sangam literature mentioned abt the defeat of Bindusara by the combined forces of three kingdoms - Early Cheras, Early Pandyas and Early Cholas. They fought among themselves when it comes to outer forces they didn’t allow anyone to enter 😊

Alex, I'm Tamilan, Your explanation is Super. Every sentence of Malayalam that you said I'm able to understand. Your naration is excellent. The chola map that you showed lacks some conquered regions like kampuchia, Laos, Burma, north east india after bengal. They traded with Greeks, Romanians, and Chinese. Malayalam is also modified version of tamil spoken in a period 5 centuries before. The interesting fact is the bodyguards of Veera Pandian gave army training camp to young men from Pandy at Kanthalur chalai to invade Cholas. The Kanthalur chalai I believe is Thiruvananthapuram. The RajaRaja chola's first war was with Kanthalur chalai and destroyed the camp, and established an order and brought the under chola kingdom. Athithya karikalan, cuts the head of Veerpandian, as a revenge, since Pandyas cut the head of one of the grand father (Sundara cholas' chiththappa) of Athithya karikalan.

Very well explained. Its high time to change our history text books. When we finished our school, we know about some British East India and the Mughals...Chola Dynasty was such legends..but it was written in our text books as if they were some village rulers...and the irony is my daughter is still studying the same even after 40 years...what an educational system!!!

They have always deliberately tried to bury the greatness of many Indian kingdoms. They have always portrayed Indian rulers in a dim light or even chosen to highlight only negative shades.
