12:39 there's actually a specific hand sign used in metal/rock shows to indicate to the band that someone in the crowd is in distress. You raise your hands above your head and cross your arms to make an x. People around you will see it and copy it and it spreads through the crowd. The mosh pit will shut down when that hand sign is seen, and the band will stop playing until the situation is resolved.

@@skyrat3816 yeah, it's a thing at larger shows, esp. festivals but it's only for major injuries or needing to get someone out of the crowd ASAP. Someone down in the mosh pit, or needing to tie laces like you mentioned generally won't trigger it. Crowds will lift people up (one story I heard there was a child who got separated from his mom and they were helping her spot him, the other a guy in a wheelchair couldn't see so a group lifted him into the air), throw hands if harassment is going on, and will escort someone out having issues. About the “if it takes five minutes or less, do it immediately” thing: i’ve heard an anecdote about this one from someone with ADHD, and they said that following this advice actually caused them to procrastinate on bigger, more important things. It might be more ADHD specific, but if you’re working on something already or need to get started on that bigger task, don’t stop to do the small thing that sounds easier unless its time sensitive. For the “girly drink” phenomenon, my assumption was always that masculinity is measured through suffering. Refusing a jacket when it’s cold out, refusing to use an umbrella when it’s raining, holding in one’s emotions unless it’s anger which can be destructive or push suffering into others, desserts and drinks and other good-tasting things are all things guys will bully each other over. It’s all about “toughing it out”, when there’s no need to and when no one is asking you to. It’s sad, really. You guys should enjoy yourselves and enjoy life, especially when it is at nobody’s expense. Drink the margarita.

Pigeons will take off if you shoot a few, but will come back and crap all over everything, and tear stuff to pieces. Ducks are mean and aggressive. If you start feeling regret, remorse or similar negative feeling, it makes it easier to decide. It's also my go to way when someone else can't decide. I would confidently suggest one of the options and watch for reactions. Flip to the other one if they start voicing complaints. Works very well and helps me avoid lengthy debates. Yup, that or it's one of those situations where things about a friend grate on you but you never want to cause trouble by addressing it - or you want to, but there's just no real communication happening - and then one day everybody gets angry and it all bursts out. I feel like maybe women are more prone to that because of that dang 'be nice, avoid confrontation' upbringing.

@Julia-lk8jn honestly, it was just a stupid, bickering sort of argument that escalated to getting louder. Looking back, I accept that there are a lot of ways I could've de-esculated it (as could she, we're both adults), but after laying all of it out to a friend who knows all of us, they were the ones to point out how much they scapegoated me in the whole situation (not even kidding, my shoe broke, I tripped because of that, and accidentally knocked into my sister's husband... again, because of broken shoe... they acted like I purposely attacked him despite me showing them my broken shoe). I accepted that kind of treatment from my blood relatives for years. I'm not accepting that from that so-called family and I won't accept it from friends. It still hurts, but I've realized that after almost a year, them being completely radio silent after that shows me where I am valued to them. Took my cue from there.

The online scene for women and men are pretty messed up. Before I started transition, I had a dating profile as a man. I would contact hundreds of women. I would get maybe 1 or 2 responses, always scammers. The moment I started social transition, I updated my FB profile pic. Within an hour I got a couple "hey sexy" messages from random guys, some in foreign languages. Some of them would send me 20 messages in a row demanding that I respond immediately. This continues EVERY DAY until I change my privacy settings so you can't contact me unless you're on my friend list.

Fun fact about hold music: Here in the UK, we have a department called the Department for Work and Pensions (or DWP). For about 14 years they had a 30 second loop of Vivaldi's Four Seasons (the spring section) as their hold music, which was super anxiety inducing if you were stuck waiting on the phone (could be upwards of 45 minutes some days). They eventually replaced it in 2020.

My dad wasn't really around when I was younger. He was still a part of my life, just non existent in teaching me anything. When the Internet's Dad guy said "I'm proud of you", I legit started to cry because I never got that growing up.

Most metal and punk communities and bands are actually very chill and have extreme awareness of and care for other people. If there's something happening in a crowd, a punk band will not hesitate to stop everything amd bring attention to it

How does that happen? Genuinely curious, how can one get into such a typhoon? What starts it?

@@Midorikonokami probably similar to when I watched Andrew Tate clips to make fun of how insane he is. You watch 3, and suddenly the KZbin algorithm thinks he’s all you want to see.

I made the mistake of looking up Jordan Peterson yesterday... Heard he was a voice of reason. Turns out, he's just a less gag-inducing version of Alex Jones and Ben Shapiro. Same terrible ideas, same insidious rhetoric- no fuss, no muss! He makes just one good point every now and then, which means the bologna he spews the rest of the time is EXTRA painful... 😣 Not good mood material, unlike this vid. :}

@@Midorikonokami Two days ago something about Jordan Peterson got shared on Reddit at first it was fun to argue with weird men then not so much. I watched a video essay about Peterson debunking him (I know that he is weird and wrong but listening to someone methodically taking him apart is nice) Now the algorithm thinks I like Peterson and similar people

3:22 that made me miss my father so much (he passed away last year). Even though he never said those things, I know he felt that way. It was hard for him to say those things because he was severely depressed (you can probably guess how he died based on this) and had possible undiagnosed autism. And yep, I’m crying right now writing this comment 😀

My Click Lore-Headcanon is that every video the entirety of his subscribers burst into his house unannounced and instead of kicking us out he just reads memes to us.

It's like leaving out offerings for the fey, but instead of bits of food or spoonfuls of milk or whatever, its memes, and instead of the fey its just a bunch of random Satanists, furries, shit posters, and any combination thereof.
