@@Graytail I know who Robin Williams was. I feel sorry for you that you didn't understand my point that not everyone knows who Robin Williams' daughter is. "Did you read the name there? Not everyone would or even should be expected to automatically know that she's his daughter simply because her last name is Williams.

Bingo, that's how we at shelters usually get them. You'd be surprised how many purebreds we actually get because ppl get a dog and didn't realize the breed needs a lot of exercise/is naturally stubborn/barks alot/ect. And rather than work with them, they just dump them on us. Cause it's _just too hard!_ Or worse, those sellers/backyard breeders can't sell off the excess so they dump them on us, (or put the poor things on the side of the road)
@7geckosinatrenchcoat
@7geckosinatrenchcoat 7 ай бұрын
There are definitely some very shady breeders and sellers, but not all shelters are saints either. There’s bad apples on both ends. I have seen a shelter put a dog up for adoption the day after it killed a prospective adopters dog, with the only addition to its bio a corny line that severely downplayed the serious and dangerous behavior issue. I saw a shelter that dumped a dog with major behavior problems at our boarding facility for months because a rich lady was paying for her board and watched that dogs issues get so bad she went on to bite an employee because a busy and crowded boarding facility was not a good environment for this dog. So yes, adopting can be wonderful, but I also don’t think we should shame people who don’t think it’s for them.

Cats are very different than dogs in shelters. Kittens have no personality, so if you want to adopt a cat you will match best with, an adopted 1-1½ yr old cat is the youngest you should get. A cat with a detailed profile about likes & personality is really good! If you do end up getting a kitten, listen to the shelter & get 2. Its not to get more money like my ex husband told me, its because otherwise you get a sharp clawed & teethed kitten trying to play with you. This includes hunting your feet, biting your ankles, attacking your feet or hair at night, overall its lots of pain & a likely future of behavior issues. Don't cause your own issues with your cat. Other than maybe ragdolls, all kittens can have any personality. There is no difference between kittens other than coat maintenance required. Especially avoid buying Persian & other smooshed face cats, any munchkin breeds, Bengals, Ragdolls, Siamese, Norwegian Forest Cats, Maine Coones, Scottish Fold, Manx, Sphinx, or Rexes. All of these breeds have genetic issues &/or breathing problems. Just like children, cats grow into a personality that is all its own. If you want the cat to live a long & happy life, make sure the breed isn't known to have severe health conditions. Oh, & keep them indoors. Indoor cats can live 20 yrs or more while outdoor cats are lucky to reach 10 yrs!

Hey, Lays don't sell oxygen. They sell nitrogen! They fill the bags with nitrogen so: 1) There's an air cushion preventing chips from breaking into starch dust during transportation 2) Nitrogen doesn't react with chips and oil (the latter becomes bitter when exposed to oxygen). And it also prevents most of the bacteria who breathes oxygen from procreating. All of this prolongs the storage time. Still overpriced though.

@@MrHodoAstartesThat sort of sign *is* also posted for areas where high voltage lines are, so you aren't incorrect for thinking of that possibility. It is the context of the image that suggests that it is an issue of gas leaks that are trapped by the topography. You can see that the background shows a rather sharp drop off in the distance behind the fence, and the area is very rural. So even though there's still the possibility that it refers to buried electrical lines, it becomes less likely- at least in my opinion, though I am by no means an expert.

Oh cool, a question I can answer! The reason why custom framing is so expensive is because of a few things. 1. Our retail markup, at Michaels at least, is somewhere in the ballpark of 75%. 2. Custom frames are just that, custom. Everything is made entirely to order and depending on exactly what you get (a handwrapped mat, for example) a lot of labor can go into it. While having it professionally done is nice, it is a LOT more expensive than getting something off the shelf. I only truly recommend it for pieces you want preserved or items of sentimental value.

My family adopted our dog from our local shelter. That post is both so true and so untrue at the same time. Her name is Gidget. She looks like those rat muppets in the bg of Muppet Christmas Carol, but fluffier and somehow adorable enough that people stop us on the street to pet her. But she's a muppet. She can live on anything, and anywhere. You could set her loose in the woods and she'd be fine. She won't eat dog treats unless the neighbors are the ones giving them to her. Her favorite food is eggs, just PLAIN EGGS, but she'll eat almost anything. She'll steal food off your plate while you're still holding said plate. She learned to climb the kitchen cabinets like a climbing wall (she's LITTLE) to steal whole meals when we aren't looking. She steals the wax paper wrappers from deli meat from the trash and eats them. One time she ate part of a tin can and shat it out unaided. She'll eat already-chewed gum if she can find it, and then vomit it up in the clean laundry basket. She'll model perfectly in any photo you take of her. Her breath is terrible. She sleeps on your feet. She's perfect. She's so weird and gross. She's my little baby.

In my experience, the trick to living without counting down until the next break is to enjoy every day in one fairly large way. Every day I listen to music while walking to work/my boyfriend's house, work hard, walk back home, eat dinner, do a chore, and hang out with my friends online for a few hours before it's time for bed. I work in a fast food restaurant, so I have no set holidays, and that's fine, because it's like a mini holiday every time I get home. That and I've taught myself to be content with my situation over the course of my life, which is not always the best thing. But in this situation, I believe it is. Also NO, Taylor Swift makes music for my autistic boyfriend who has anxiety.

I was looking for custom frames once. Because I made a guache painting on a piece of thick paper. It's not on a canvas. And my god! I was looking for something of a similar size. Like even a plastic frame but they're all so expensive. They're ridiculously expensive. I don't know if I'll ever be able to diy my way out of it with the help of my dad or something. Otherwise the painting is going to get ruined.

Walmart, Dollar Store, Five and Under, whatever else; those cheap frames with a sample picture already in them will do in a pinch. If your piece of art is too think for the original cardboard backing that comes with it, you could buy something like a frozen lasagna to use that thinner cardboard packaging for a frame backing. And then you can use the back side of the picture you removed from the frame for another art project.

That last one, you might've misread the meme. It is talking about KZbin is being so overzealous in trying to predict your preferences that one video watched to solve a problem or answer a question makes it immediately bombard you, sometimes for DAYS, because it thinks it might get some extra ad revenue out of you if it finds a new passion for home improvement videos and causes a binge watch or something, when no. The one singular circumstance that you needed that content is over and you just with KZbin would forget about it and stop trying to predict your moods.

For those who may not know, Zelda Willaims is the daughter of the late Robin Williams. Robin was VERY against peddling anything to anyone, especially impressionable young kids, and was a staunch supporter of paying anyone and everyone proper wages with no strings attached. He helped thousands of homeless people, stood up for child actors to ensure they were treated properly, and did his best to be kind, charitable and make other people laugh. Zelda is just as amazing as her dad for standing by his wishes and continuing to perform the same acts that he had done while he was with us. May Robin rest in peace, and may any greedy corporations burn to ash for trying to capitalize off the names of the deceased who cannot speak for themselves.

We've only ever adopted one animal from a shelter, and it was specifically to give our new kitten a playmate. Most of our animals we either buy from random people (not breeders) or we literally pick up off the street. Oscar, one of our cats, is from a shelter, and he is an evil mastermind who wants you to think there's not a thought behind his eyes. I love him, he's got thumbs and he's a total snugglebug. Pluto we picked up off the streets. He eats plastic, steals anything he can get his paws on (seriously, he's stolen envelopes full of money before, as well as my driving gloves), and is only affectionate when he's sleepy or if you're my little sister. I love both of them. My old cat, Lucky, was also picked up off the street when I was only a year old. She was a typical cat, and would scream if you went to sit on the couch because she blended in with her favorite blanket and had been sat on far too many times before. I loved her to death.

Used to work in custom framing at Michaels. Reason it’s so expensive is obviously because corporate greed, but also there a LOT of work that goes into putting together a frame. Multiple inspections, alignment, cutting the glass/mat and butting together the frame in the shop, etc. And let me tell you, cutting a mat is a FUCKING nightmare. The most I’ve ever seen one get recut was 8 times before it was cut correctly because of the angle.
