I live in London Ontario what you said is 100% true.We had plans to buy a house initially after getting our PR and settle here but after all the scenario about the uncertainty we decided not to buy the property because that would be a burden for a life time.Now we took a rented 2bhk including all utilities and basement garage and we lead a happy life no worries about the mortgage loan or anything.

Chetta I agree with you in 90%.but if you are staying more than 5 years (I am in ca last 19 years) buying a house is better than renting tenting with fixed rate less than 3 or 4 % depends,with my experience every yearly rental contract goes 8-12% increases and you will not get any tax benefits.own home or first time buyer we got &8000 from federal and you can file PMI+interest paid on mortgage +renewotion 0:07 cost moreover a better life ,feel of own,can do so many things.we start with $950 with a 2bd 11/2 bath after 9years its cost 0:07 was $1980,now in 3bd+2bath with very good location + lot of vegetables of course you need to do and know lawn maintenance +small repairs ,and coming mortgage $3000, if go for rent a same facilities will be $4500/m.
