THE WAY HE ADMITS THAT HE ONLY GOT THE WINE BECAUSE HE DIDNT WANT TO COME EMPTY HANDED???? Girlie just throw him away
@birdie79106 ай бұрын
Well tbh I feel like that’s the least problematic thing he did. 2 months of dating isn’t much for gifts and to me « didn’t want to come empty handed » sounds like he didn’t feel good about not buying her gifts which is fine lol. He’s obviously a weird ass person taking into account he’s 30 and a 21 year old is 5000x more mature and stable than him. I’m guessing that’s why he gets with younger women. He knows not a single woman his age would take him seriously. No one in their 20s would either but he’s probably mysogonistic and a creep. All those « red flags » on their own aren’t crazy, but together ?? Goddamn

Comfort and complacency. They know its not a good relationship but to them its better than risking losing what good they do have for something worse, even though they would probably get better especially if you learn from the one you just left. In my experience at least, thats a good reason why

I'd also like to mention: women and afab folk are widely conditioned from a young age to put up with bullshit from men. Of course feeling trapped in a toxic relationship is something that anyone can experience, but there are huge institutional factors at play that explain why so many women/afab folk stick around in "obviously" terrible relationships with men

These “confessions” of being disappointed about how the people they loved treated them during the holidays are so sad. Like, it’s one time a year and you can’t think of ANYTHING that someone you love would like??? Even if it’s not something they would like I mean it’s just something to show that you’re thinking of them.
@jjhaya6 ай бұрын
Yeah bro you could look literally up "top Christmas gift ideas" and choose from them . One that hurts the most is that girl who didn't get a gift from anyone in her family with the joke "must have been on the naughty list" as a hint that it's intentional; they probably hated her for a reason we didn't get to know but I think it's just a horrible action to do that, especially coming from your family in a day that should be about love . That kind of behavior is something to be expected in a toxic workplace Christmas party but should not occur in a family setting .
@birdie79106 ай бұрын
Right ?? And money isn’t an excuse either because baking cookies or making candies and gifting them for Christmas is so meaningful. I’m usually HUGEE on gifts but this year I had 0 money lol. Instead, I made my family Christmas fudge and cute little cupcakes. Very simple, not expensive and they loved it ! Obviously it’s not something I would do every Christmas bc my baking skills are not good enough for that lol but it’s still something that made my parents and siblings feel important and baking is fun !! I don’t really understand how you could choose not to buy at least a tiny box of chocolate to say « hey it’s not much but I did go out and buy this thinking about you »

“i didn’t have time to buy christmas gifts” there’s this amazing thing called the internet and online shopping
@stellart56646 ай бұрын
I think the reason people don't buy gifts super early in the year is because of trying to hide the gifts. idk other people's families but in mine, November and December are the "no going into areas pointlessly" months because we know gifts are being hidden or wrapped. Knocking on all doors, no sneaking into a room, maybe even waiting for a second after turning a door handle all in case a Christmas gift is being hidden. Hiding gifts earlier in the year is harder because these unspoken rules aren't in effect, not to mention forgetting where you hide them.
@BrookeAndCoStudios6 ай бұрын
It's also easiest to ensure they're not going to buy that thing for themselves sometime during the year. Once November rolls around, I can finally say "Dad you're not allowed to buy yourself anything til Christmas" because otherwise he'll just get it himself.

Well he reschedules it to the 27th, then ALL DAY on the 27th GHOSTS me and I was talking to his best friends brother to find out HE WAS AT THEIR HOUSE ALL DAY??? So I was a little pissed. Anyways I brought up the fact he kissed his best friend and he went ape shit and when I tried to leave him he said "nah lets fix this" and when I tried to he was like "IM BLOCKING U YOU KEEP TRYING TO FIX THIS"..... Okay....WHATEVER THO bc boys dont matter and im the best boy in the entire world umm...???? So yeah my Christmas was silly, At least im FREEEEE!!!

If the guys are genuinely terrible - dump them. If they are only terrible around gift making and celebrations - tell them that this shit is important to you (since it's clearly not important to them). We all value things differently and maybe they don't really care about those things specifically and are annoyed by your fixation on it. If this doesn't change their behaviour - dump them.

Not tryna sound like a pick me or nothing, but as a guy a lot of these stories were pretty messed up. The only one I could see coming back from would be the opening presents without the mom, they can work through that, but the others were just not being the most basic level of thoughtful. I mean not even a book, or something useful. I admit I'm not the best gift giver but it really isn't that hard to just get a gift when you've been seeing someone.
