it's still absolutely possible to cheat if you're poly. identifying as polyamorous isn't a free-card to get away with cheating. as soon as you do something that you and your partner didn't explicitly agree was okay beforehand, that's cheating, and that can happen even if you're in a poly relationship.

The shopaholic wife: The fact she is not willing to sell her things, admit her wrongs, or even find getting help "steep" is proof of the woman she actually is. This is probably why her daughter and her are on such rocky grounds, because she is clearly self -absorbed and doesn't think about anyone outside herself. Step dad will probably always be this girl's parent, but I would not be surprised if the daughter went no contact with mom down the road.

The shopping addicted wife should become a paid organ donor to get some of her daughter's money back. There are several organs and tissues that can be live donated with reasonable safety. Blood and blood products, bone marrow. One kidney, one lung can be donated. Sections of liver can regrow in time so that could be an ongoing donation. Oh one cornea could've also be donated, a portion of their pancreas or intestine could also be donated.

I don’t think he wanted to end it because he was shocked when I did and even threatened me, begged etc. I truly think some people are just addicted to drama. I never understood jealousy as an emotion and his parents were extremely jealous (for no reason might i add they barely left the house) so I think in his mind he thought that is how love should be and since we were getting close to finally getting married after seven years of relationship I think he was actually worried that I don’t love him due to lack if jealousy… Dodged a whole automatic riffle on that one

Two: If you are already in a relationship but you realize there's more you want out of it, you explain. Then you and your partner have to decide is this something we're okay with? if not you can either continue to be monogamous or make the decision to end the relationship. Communication is so important because being poly is not an excuse to cheat that is a betrayal of trust and it sucks a lot.

As someone who has a recovering shopaholic mom, if you take any advice on a family member like this NEVER under any circumstances let them off the hook EVER, not even on the first big offense if you can help it. Because when the shopaholic addiction gets this bad, it’s going to go on for as long as you keep bailing them out. The biggest clue to how you know it’s beyond bad is how well they hide it, Click you asked how the husband didn’t notice all the stuff from the missing money, that’s because she has probably had this problem since she was a teenager and these long standing addicts are THAT good at hiding the evidence, at least until someone notices the hundreds of dollars missing.

I read the update about the guy with the stealing wife : he has told the truth to Cassie, is planning to divorce his wife and explains that she spent that money over years so it wasn't that obvious to him. She was the only one who had access to her daughter's account and everytime he caught her buying something expensive, she'd say it was on sale or that she had a nice bonus at work. So, I really believe he didn't caught up with her spending habits until too late and despite the situation, I'm pretty happy to know he and Cassie will probably be OK (she's applying for scholarships in order for her step father not to drain his retirement funds to make up for everything). The mother should have agreed to not just admitting her longtime theft, but admitting her addiction to her daughter, AND getting help for it. Her relationship with her daughter is so bad even without this because she’s not handling life well. Hopefully, stories like this will get well known so the realities of lesser known addictions can be better recognized and help offered. Part of the problem with identifying it is shopping doesn’t always go that far; “too much of anything is a bad thing”. In limited amounts or with a controlled budget, something like shopping can also be a coping mechanism- window shopping without being able to buy anything, just to get out of the house and move around a bit, for example. My mom occasionally does a form of this where she browses the clearance racks during good additional sales and buys things for other people, since giving gifts that will be enjoyed is part of how she expresses love to family and it gets her out of her head, focusing on others rather than herself.

Yeah.. if that was me, the post would have ended with "I left the dog with her ex and then broke up with her and told everyone else in town she's a dog thief and to never date her". That guy was too soft on her, she needs to be metaphorically slapped in the face and taught a lesson, it's not fair she gets to believe she let that man die without ever seeing his dog and she thinks that's hilarious, she's sick in the head. People who break the bond between a dog and their first human just to hurt the person, are pure evil. I wouldn't have been able to leave the dog with her knowing she could behave like that, and I definitely wouldn't be able to date her, I've broken up with people for less, I'm asexual and single now but when I dated, I didn't tolerate cruel assholes, ever. You say one mean thing about someone in public being fat, you push one puppy aside, you laugh one time at seeing someone get hurt, and we're done. So I just can't see how low standards people must have to find out your gf is keeping a dying man and his loving dog from ever seeing each other, and still want to even look at that disgusting jerk. I'd be disgusted to even be in a room with her again, we would not still be together and I'd do everything in my power to get that dog to a safe place away from her.

It's really a good litmus to see how someone treats people they hate. They can be mean, but are they dishonest, unfair, or properly abusive? Cause you can't be sure your relationship won't end that way, and the person they're treating horribly now probably thought it was unlikely too, and maybe they didn't actually deserve the hate either.

That last story with the brother in law photoshopping nudes of OP was gross but I have a lot of respect for OP's hubby and parents in law. Hubby because he was levelheaded and cautious enough to take the time to both confirm the nudes WEREN'T hers, and to call out brother in law in front of everyone. Respect to the parents for recognizing they were wrong and apologizing, as well as taking action to punish the brother. They could have easily stuck to their guns and been stubborn, insisting they didn't have proof it wasn't her and demanding to see proof etc, disowned OP and OP's hubby etc. That's a good hubby right there, and the parents are good too. Often I feel the parents are to blame for children's actions, since it's the parents' job to teach their kids right from wrong. But on account of the fact that 1) the kid is 17, nearly a legal adult, and 2) they were surprisingly apologetic, it seems like this toxic behavior was entirely unprompted by them and all just the brother. One would expect a little more maturity by that age, and the fact he insisted they 'ruined Christmas' is laughable. They didn't ruin Christmas; he did it himself.

An argument could also be made that it was a misunderstanding, since OP never said that BIL had claimed they were sent by her. All we know is that he showed the family those pictures, after all. Honestly, creating drama has been a thing way before Social media. My grandma, when she wanted to feel right/better, would deliberately do weird stuff. Like one time she left a mug balanced on the edge of the table, so it would fall and break as grandpa would enter (he was very heavy and the front door was metal), but he didn't trigger her trap, instead she turned in anticipation, bumped the table and the mug fell and broke. What followed was the most illogical thing I've ever witnessed, she started crying and hitting him because he was supposed to break the mug and that it was her favorite tea cup and then it spun into "if you love me you'd have broken it instead of me" and "you don't love me enough to admit that you are at fault"... Anywho, that was a 70+ year old woman that had gotten away with that behavior all her life.

@@RiveroftheWither I actually have a theory about this. It connects to the standards of media we consume and the sheer volume of what’s available. The reason we interact with entertainment is commonly cited to be “a distraction from our boring lives”. It’s cheap, mostly accessible, and easy to get far too swept up in if you have enough free time. The problem is that telling stories requires conflict, and people tend to write over-the-top conflict to make movie, series, and book stories more… interesting. It makes sense for media, but real life comes across as boring after consuming too much of this exaggerated reality. Some people who desperately want excitement like the kind in their programming of choice can try to manufacture this same exaggerated reality and get angry when it doesn’t work. This can come across as illogical or even “insane” to anyone but them. This isn’t saying that media is bad or anything. It’s more a commentary on how much of it we consume and how our desire for escapism can spiral dangerously out of hand if not kept in check.

My parents always represented a united front, both to their children and the church my father pastored. They were married for 25 years. One day, out of the blue, they flew down to tell us they were getting divorced because my dad had secretly been cheating for years, and my mom no longer wanted to "live a lie". So, idk. Even a superficially stable and secure relationship model can lead to having a hard time knowing what love really looks like 💔

God that cheater who came out as polyamorous pisses me off so badly. I'm polyamorous- I discovered it while I was engaged to my fiance. What I did was talk that out with him, turns out he's polyamorous too! But if he wasn't, I'd either respect that and stay with him, or respect that and break up bc we needed different things. Cheaters give us a bad name, and it's so frustrating. Even within polyamorous relationships there are boundaries that crossing means cheating! I can't just go and sleep with whoever without getting the go-ahead from the whole polycule first. Hate people who do shit like that.

@@foxinabox5103 Open relationships are a form of polyamory, though ours is generally closed- if that were to change, I'd need to renegotiate boundaries. That's what I was getting at- it's cheating to sleep with people outside your relationship even if you're polyamorous, unless the boundary is "go ahead do whatever", which are some people's arrangements, but not mine, and not hers! And it doesn't necessarily have to be agreed upon from the beginning, but DEFINITELY before you take any action to pursue someone outside the relationship. It just so happened for me the person I was interested in pursuing, my fiance was ALSO interested in lol , but my fiance and I started out fully monogamous. But you can't go back and retroactively "fix" cheating by coming out as polyamorous, even if your partner DOES agree

Though, if I'm honest, not only would I have left the dog with the original owner, unless asked to bring it back since he was terminally ill, I would have left the girlfriend as soon as I found out she took the dog from her ex! Unfortunately in many places pets are considered "property" and I have no doubt the gf would have immediately called the police and made issues both for op and the ex if she knew he had done that. At the very least the dog would have been returned to her by police and at worst they'd both be facing charges of theft. Personally I'd have taken the dog over every time she was at work and broken up with her ASAP after the ex passed away, the only reason I wouldn't have broken up with her after realising how toxic she was is to give the ex and the dog the chance to spend time together. I might have tried to find a way of getting the dog out of there without her knowing it went to the ex, like telling her it ran off while on a walk or something, but only if I could trust the ex and his family not to let it slip that they had the dog

A similar thing happened to my Mum's pet goat when she was little. She knew what she was eating, she had seen the blood in the bathtub and couldn't find her pet goat. I'm putting this online because Deda (granddad) just decided not to let Mum come to his house for Christmas last year and I just heard about it. I'm f*cking fuming. When I was young I thought he was nice. Every new thing I hear about him, I just hate him more. It's no wonder that Baba divorced him.

I've had a couple of women assert that I must be gay, *and in denial about it,* because I wasn't interested in having sex with them, but believed that I was straight. It didn't inspire me to change my mind about having sex with them. Nor did I put a great deal of energy into refuting them. They were wrong, but if they needed to believe that nonsense to salve their egos... that wasn't my problem. I wasn't troubled by their beliefs. I was (and am) interested in women and not in men, but their attitude helped confirm that they weren't good relationship candidates.

The shopaholic story is disgusting. If the dad had taken the fall for where the money went, or the money had somehow been replenished with the dad out of the picture it'd have only been a matter of time until the mom spent it all anyway. She has an addiction. Blaming her husband, which might end up in a divorce or separation if the daughter doesnt want to be around him because of that lie would result in the mom being free to indulge in her addictive tendencies without any checks and balances.

Exactly. In my case, I actually asked my bf whether he'd be okay having an open/polyamorous relationship, and when he didn't want to, I decided to stay with him instead of cheating or breaking up, since even though I do have moments where I'm like "Hmm, that'd be fun", I treasure and respect him way too much to ever wrong him in any way. I would never cheat on him, and I know the happiness I feel when I'm around him would never be less than when breaking up with him (This would of course change in case of abuse or anything, but that's not happening currently, nor has it in the past 3 years we've been dating). I made the decision to respect his choice. As long as I do not have permission from him, I shall never even consider having another relationship during ours.

I just did a lot of research and self-reflection and realized that was what sounded best to me, so by the time I got into my next relationship, my new partner knew I was poly and was good with that. He wanted to keep the dog - but she often had him with us in school and like most of the time it seemed. A very well behaved animal and when the dog did not come to school with her we knew HE had the dog. She was always so sad when we asked her. Later I learned she dragged his ass to court for that dog. They had to share custody over the dog like a kid. He got the dog on weekends and she had him during the week and she was so much happier afterwards. So I guess she won. LOL

The first story with the dog is honestly so sad. That girl is evil. This is why you should always keep a full record of your pet's purchase/adoption and veterinary care. I'll be damned if I bring a dog into a relationship, and my vindictive and sadistic ex tries to hold my dog hostage. However, if the pet was a mutual purchase/adoption, I suppose that would be more complicated. A pet is a big commitment, so I'd suggest considering this when deciding to get a pet with your partner.

An update: The baby's not his, he broke it off with the cheating ex, and her affair partner bettered himself, broke it off with her as well, and I think? She moved back with her parents, idk; Mark Narrations or Lost Genre has updates on stories like these

...that guy paying for his stepdaughter's college out of his RETIREMENT money. Even if it's an addiction, it was beyond selfish of the mother to use her daughter's college fund like that and she does not deserve to be with someone like OP that cares so much about other people.

The shittier thing is that she doesn't own up and try to fix it. Everyone can make a mistake (tho spending 170k over several years isn't just an oopsie), but you CAN turn it around and fix it - get a job, sell your stuff, etc. Even just replacing *some* of the money to show willing.... how else would her daughter trust her again???

@@SartorialDragon Yeah, exactly! It's ridiculous that her husband is having to take responsibility for her actions by fixing them.

That's why I don't really think it matters if she "has an addiction". Saying it's an addiction is her way to scoot around being called out for her shit (since there's a lot more empathy for people struggling with addiction nowadays). She literally blew up her child's future but when told she needs to go to therapy and fess up, it's "too steep"... ma'am get a grip and hold on, because your daughter is gonna yeet your selfish ass out of her life the moment she turns 18 if you keep acting like this.

Also, I'd be deeply disturbed if a family member's partner just gave me a promo code so I can pay to see their feet/see them naked. Like who tf thinks like that???

What's the deal with feet anyway? Do people think feet are...s*xy? All I've ever associated with feet are dirty sneakers and smelly socks, definitely not s*xy.

@@ferretqueen2908 historically, foot fetishes often are rooted in eras where fashion/clothing covered up most of the body (like the Victorian era). As for why it's a thing now, not entirely sure, but as someone who studied psychology, I can say that fetishes are pretty diverse, and are typically an overall harmless (and can actually be healthy) expression of sexuality. That being said, always make sure everyone involved in a person's fetish is consenting to be part of it. Consent matters!

@ferretqueen2908 feet are fascinating, even if you only look at it from anatomy. Please be more nice and respectful to your feet. They have so many bones and complex sinews and stuff and they carry us around for such a long time.

39:25 not young honestly 17 is old enough to not do shit like this, if you’re nearly old enough to shoot and kill people in the military, then you’re old enough to face criminal charges and prison time for shit like that. That is BEYOND fucked behavior, and literally life ruining shit

The girl in the first story is the type of crazy ex that you tell you friends and family about. From the sounds of it, she only took the dog because she knew it would hurt her ex the most. If the dog didn't exist, it would've been an item of great sentimental value to her ex. She's the type of petty that should be shamed and shunned. The type who, it doesn't matter who or how many she hurts, she will do anything to get her revenge if she doesn't get her way. In this case, getting broken up with.
