Don't really mind not using an analogue system along with this one! :) Might be a good idea to get a 2.4Ghz video system at last... :)

Trust.. difficult with any untested technology. I run a backup video transmitter on one of my long range planes set to a different frequency (band), after a few events getting wiped out at long range it makes for necessary insurance. rather than wasting power running both 5.8ghz and 1.2ghz and needing a video DA, I just use a micro double pole relay with a pwm switch on a spare channel, it switches video and power between the transmitters and adds very little weight. You could do same to stop cross interfering, even just switching on or off the analogue system will work. Thanks again for an excellent review.

Nice idea mate! Will give it some thought... although I would prefer to have the analogue system working full time because of my antenna tracker! A 3.3Ghz video system would be fine, just need to find the time to mount it on, and for the weather to improve, so I can have a nice flight!

I actually have a few similar On/Off switches... although mine are up to 10A... and I think the voltage is higher! :) Might give it a try, although today I flew with a 3.3Ghz 1W video system, and the HD and this one did not interfere with one another! :)

Buying a mavic and scrapping it for the video system and gimbal is always an option... although you will still need a second radio for control... might make things a bit clunky! :) A directional antenna on the ground will surely get you out to 20kms in HD... but it is a heavy DIY project... and my idea is to find an off the shelf solution that everybody would be able to use! I don't see a problem with testing out these systems... at some point one of them might become a big surprise! :)

Sounds good mate! As long as you are getting the results you are looking for, its all good! :) The MFD AAT works for me, but I do enjoy the cheap price of the Omnibus F4 Pro boards running ArduPlane, compared to the 200 USD price tag on the MFD AP or the Vector... so don't mind doing a bit of soldering to get the planes outfitted! Besides... truth be told, if I had 2 planes, perhaps would be OK with a more expensive AP because of simplicity to setup... but I have 6-7 planes fully equipped with APs and full FPV gear, cameras, etc., and if I had to shell out 200 USD for AP alone for them... it would get quite expensive!

Interesting results, too bad that the analog FPV jams the HD stream. Reminds me of an event a few years ago on a car road trip, my GPS unit had a wireless revering camera and along the road there were some gas stations using apparently the exact same wireless video units and my GPS would switch to reverse mode and show me footage from the security systems of the gas stations ! I can only imagine how secure is such kind of a "security" system :D

Hahaha, back in the day I thought $400 was too much for an antenna tracker... until I spent yet another flight trying to aim the receiver antenna at my plane at distance... without much success! Right after that flight it was clear that I will have to pony up that $400... and to be honest I have not regretted a single cent spent on that antenna tracker. Now... I don't want to have to wait so long to find a working HD system... so I am at the point where I am willing to invest a bit to find a working one even before the technology is fully developed! In all honesty it should have been developed a long time ago, as the analogue systems we are now using are ages old technology... they should have been made obsolete a while back!
@mimlomiani69497 жыл бұрын
Yep..:) I agree Totally with you that it should have been developed a long time ago. I think some people who have many Good idea's but not that much capital are not so willing to risk in a world where the big and powerful dont play it fear, well most of the time. What I mean by that is lets say that you have a really good idea for a google. You know that if you dont do anything about it not so long from now someone else will because it is just so easy and helpful, but you know too that you can not produce it localy and if you do the prices doesn't match with the world today. So one has one option, have a trip to china and that is start of all your problems. Because as soon as you come there with your idea if you dont have enough capital to produce many before the copy makers start on you too :). So I can understand sometimes the price must be high if you want to be one of the first to have the system and a reliable system too. So maybe 400 is not that much when you look at it...:) Anyways thank you for sharing.Looking forward to see some good video's from you, and I really hope that you will have many subscribers because you deserve it...

I'll be looking for your next video which you will have better success. Always great to have another option for HD vTx. I am liking the FPV Blue we have here in the states tho.
@ArxangelRC7 жыл бұрын
FPV.Blue is nice, but it is on the 1.2Ghz band, and I really would like to stay away from it, as I want to keep using 2.4Ghz control for the time being. The benefit of a 5.8Ghz system is that it doesn't interfere with anything, and is a lot more user friendly than 1.2Ghz with all the filtering, etc., that it needs done!
@lesjack1377 жыл бұрын
I take your point regarding 2.4, but here's a comment from fpv.blue when asked if their system will work with 2.4 control: 'The harmonic, even if 100+ MHz away, is still enough to overload many 2.4 GHz RC receiver frontends. A low pass filter on the transmitter will solve the problem entirely (and again there is one already on the PCB that is gonna see it's number of stages going up for the next batch).' So it's designed to work with 2.4, we'll soon find out if it does. It has the range that 5.8 just can't match.
@ArxangelRC7 жыл бұрын
Right... at this point I really don't want to spend over 400 Euros just to troubleshoot that system IF that in-built filter doesn't work! It is not a problem for me to either wait to get confirmation they have fixed that and there will be no issue with 2.4Ghz, or wait until they release the 2.4Ghz version, at which point I will just use it with the FrSky R9M system. Right now, I know for certain that the 5.8Ghz band of the DVL1 works well with 2.4Ghz, so will keep to that, and will hopefully get some nice range out of this system in the coming days! :)

@ArxangelRC7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! FPV.Blue is working on the 1.2Ghz band, and for the time being I want to stay away from that one. That frequency causes issues and I will have to move to 433 controls, will have to use filters, etc., just don't want to have to get into that ordeal right now! Might give it a go when they release the 2.4Ghz version!
@alfonsoirwin83727 жыл бұрын
ArxangelRC Oh. I didn't know that was that complicated.. I look at bonafidepirate vid. And I don't see him have any problems.. Maybe because he is using different systems.. Anyways, I think is better to wait some time so those HD system get better

If one usually flies with 1.2Ghz video... he will have all the necessary gear and filters to negate its effects. I do not, and really don't have the desire to get into that at this time!

Why dont you try moving your 5.8G Analog VTX to the very front of the plane, right now they are right on top of each other? It may be enough to stop it, although having two 5.8G VTXs on the same plane is never going to work is it..? I still say 5.8G will never be any good for Video downlink, even DJI use 2.4G for control and Video, difference is, its encrypted. 1280mhz is actually an amateur TV HAM Band here in the UK, but you are not allowed to have an airborne transmitter.
@ArxangelRC7 жыл бұрын
Actually, for the separation test I will move the HD system up front, so I can use it for flying as well, and see how it feels. Easiest way to do this would be to them just replace the 5.8Ghz analogue Vtx with a 3.3Ghz one and test again to see how they will do together. 5.8Ghz is very user friendly as it doesn't interfere with 2.4Ghz control, and I would like to keep using that. As for DJI, older systems were on 2.4Ghz, but their new systems operate on both 2.4Ghz and/or 5.8Ghz, and getting spectacular ranges even without directional antennas! We have done some pretty amazing stuff with the 1st DJI Lightbridge here, but since it is 100mW we needed some pretty big antennas!
@EnglishTurbines7 жыл бұрын
The answer is to use a 1280mhz analogue Video Downlink.....I predict that the killer here for this 5.8G HD system will be its distinct lack of range, I'd like to be wrong, but Im guessing I won't be. Its why FPV Blue is using 1.2G, it has enough bandwidth to carry the HD signal, but it has range too, due to the lower frequency. Those 5.8G receiver antennas just won't be good enough.
@ArxangelRC7 жыл бұрын
Actually this system is not new, I think it has been sold since Jan this year, I only found out about it recently! Everybody that has it and I have talked to is actually quite happy with it, and there are a few videos around with it, showing it could do a few hundred meters at least, so I am optimistic! Next week I will be testing it with a 3.3Ghz Vtx system, the two shouldn't interfere with each other, and we will see! End of the day, I could leave on it on the plane... but will have to be brave about it and trust the iNav to bring the plane back! :)

@englishturbines Problem being that those frequencies are used for mobile GSM services in most parts of Europe, especially between 900 and 1800Mhz..

Actually around 1280Mhz is not for the GSM band... but around my parts we have a pretty strong radar on top of the mountain that operates close to that frequency, so trying to fly at those frequencies is not a good idea around here!

That is another option, which I will consider, but my EVE needs to have its motors replaced, and the Clouds needs some rewiring, so if I don't get the time to do any of them, I will keep the system on the Believer and just use a 3.3Ghz Vtx for the analogue bit... or fix my iNav, so it doesn't try to crash the plane on RTH! :D
