Fluidampr is going to save you so much headache in a high HP situation. I highly recommend one to reduce the harmonics the engine will see with higher horsepower tunes. The stock damper is good at stock HP rate vehicles, but anything over that you are taking a chance of vibrating that crank to death. Great video guys, and can't wait to see the updated build.
@MalakaMotorSports
@MalakaMotorSports 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely we been running fluidamprs on both of our B5’s seems like every failure we have seen is because people don’t put a new crank bolt which is $7 along with loctite and actually torque them.

The engine build is looking solid, nice job. The ring gap formula is .007 and .0075 per inch of cylinder bore, you could have gone .030 and the engine would not know. Keep rolling.....

I’ve seen videos of pro guys when they’ve done ring gaps. The only difference from what you were doing, is they flip the piston upside down and they push the ring down until it gets to the associated groove. I think the reasoning behind that method as far as I’m aware is that’s where the rings would end travel at tdc for each cylinder. Can’t wait to see the vrs3 on the dyno

@@MalakaMotorSports that’s a good and bad thing about working on cars, millions ways to do everything. But those boys from Real St are absolutely top shelf 👌🏼. I’m interested to hear what the r30 is going sound like. Maybe you guys could do a comparison video with yours and George’s B5 to the vrs3?

Be careful doing that, on vr6’s the top of the piston is at a 7,5 degree angle📐 and the rigs would not be square within the bore. Ask me how I know😂

Been looking forward to his for a while. One tip, you don' need to lube the studs where they go into the block. The ARP grease is only for the UNF Fine ends of the studs, to reduce friction and allow more accurate torque specs. You can loctite the block ends though.
@MalakaMotorSports
@MalakaMotorSports 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm interesting I guess it’s just bad habits. Even arp told us to lube them up. But what your saying makes sense. Hopefully everything works out. If that shows to be an issue we will fix it and try a new way. Always learning something new
@iswinkels
@iswinkels 3 жыл бұрын
@@MalakaMotorSports I doubt the mains studs would shake loose anyway. I'd imagine you'll be pulling the engine once a year or more for maintenance. When you do, attempt to re-torque the mains to your current torque spec and see if they move. Also, consider getting an ARP rod bolt stretch gauge. Ive found that when using L19 and ARP625 bolts (3/8) the torque spec recommendation of 65ft-lb doesnt achieve the required stretch. In fact you often end up going as far as 71ft-lb to get the 5.5-6.5 thou stretch on the bolts. Its a good investment to improve your builds, and helps you document everything so you have a point of comparison for when you do your maintenance inspections.
@MalakaMotorSports
@MalakaMotorSports 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely all good things to consider and I think your right at the power level we are aiming for. I would think regular routine maintenance and checks will come and we can improve and document everything better. I’m excited to see what this engine will do and how far we can push a cast engine

My brother and I were talking the other day, with that girdle plate being sandwiched between the oil pan and block, how are you guys going to get the oil pan “bell housing” bolts to line up with the trans??
