Love the VR6. The sound, design, the fact that its underrated and nobody talks about it!! This engine RIPS🏁
The R30 setup is my favorite. The 2,8 crank in the 3,2 engine makes for a perfect turbo setup. With forged rods and a forged crank you can build an engine using stock VW parts and make a solid 500+hp. If you get them parts from the junkyard its going to be super affordable and you'll love the way it runs and sounds 🎶💥
Stay tuned for more VR6 content🏁

Ive seen some talk of people using the 2.8 block and running a 3.2 head and a 3.2 crank on it to bump the compression up to 3 liters. But I like the 2.8 crank in the 3.2 because that would be a shorter stroke correct? I want to rev mine out a bit. Just getting into the platform and trying to decide on the best setup for my RWD Peugeot. I dont think I like how the 3.6's sound and I want the flow of the 24v. R30 seems perfect

AAA 12 valve VR6's are the best....simple, stout and 83mm JE drop in pistons at 9:1, and you have a 3.0 liter monster with HALF the moving parts, and less than half the price!!!! some pauter or IE tuscan rods a twin scroll borg warner EFR 8374 or Zona rotor 8267 with some good fueling (twin 044's in a surge tank with some 750 cc injectors) a good tuner and stand alone like lugtronics or syvecs and you got 750 whp all day you can beat on. I also have a built head with ferrea valvetrain. FACT: the vr6 was originally designed as a DIESEL motor! The head designer from porche redesigned a gas head to operate on the diesel bottom end in 6 months before the introduction of the vr6 to save billions in lost revenue from scrapping all the vr6 bottom ends already manufactured....this is why the vr6 is so srout!!!

Man I agree 12v VR’s are sick and you can make some POWER with them. Follow and scroll on @zmdlit and @r58vrt Instagrams. You’ll see that after about 1000hp you need the 24v..

What sort of RPM would this configuration be spinning at? I am new to VR6 engines, considering dropping one in a S14 Silvia due to the compact nature of the beast, but worried about reliability under high rpm high load situations for 30 seconds at a time.

You’re r30 build explanation Doesn’t make sense order for it to be considered a R30 you have the Increase cylinders similar size which the perfect engine, for that would be the 2.9 vr6 You putting 2.8 Crank and pistons in a R32 block you’re still Making an R32 you Said it, yourself 3.2 an what is that the 3.2, da 3.2 is litres that Is created by cylinder size of 84 using 2.8 pistons oversize, piston rings to fit the cylinder Which you still have a 3.2 L reduce the pistons in the block does not reduce the litre size And therefore you still have a 3.2l Although, it will be a Frankenstein R32 And especially where you were saying that all, but most parts are interchangeable only way to truly get a VR6 3l Is Through a 2.8 or 2.9 being the best engine? To create what your speaking of even if you put the R32 head on a 3rd Gem 1998 2.8l vr6 you still get a 2.8l Which both 24 valve engines, 2.8 24v & R32 are da 3rd gen and 4th gen vr’s were both launched from the same platform, the same vehicle, which was the mk4 golf The first of da 24 valve head You still got a 2.8l VR6 Frankenstein Which you would get a better flow from the head r32 so to cut a long story short putting 2.8 components into an r32 block. You still got an R32 Or in Laymans terms You still have a 3.2 L third-generation, VR6 with a , that’s it Love the UK

Good to see you back producing videos again. I hope to pick up some new tips from your new build. If you could cover some of the emissions delete stuff that would be great. Most people sharing VR6 builds completely gloss over it. I'm about to do the final steps of my VR6 conversion at the moment. Only wiring, fuel, cooling, exhaust and intake to go... so everything really. But it is mid mounted in a '66 bug now with a 6 speed wrx gearbox behind it now so that's half the mission!

WOW that's an awesome build!! Im going to do that to a vanagon, mid engine, vr6 R30, with Nissan cd009 trans, ford 9''.. It'll be a few years but Im planning it everyday😂. Ill definitely be going over everything, if you have a serious question ask/message us on our postpros instagram and my brother or I will get back to you!! Would love to see that thing!!!

@@PostPros I knew you'd appreciate my mad project, being a VW man yourself. Also considering your already subie swapped van. I'll message you by Instagram next weekend when I get the car rolled out for a wash and send you a photo. Had you considered the Audi A4 B5 transmission for a mid engine setup? They are a lot more available in the USA than where I am in Australia. Strong box too, considering the abuse the Malaka motorsport guys did to their Audi VR6's.It would work well for a mid engine setup in the back of a van I think, probably a little less cutting.

@@iswinkels Ok sweet!! Haven't really considered it, but do know about the trans and definitely watch the malakas!! The Nissan later 350z transmission is a BEAST. My friend had a 2JZ pushing about 1250hp and BEAT that poor thing, the CD009 held it, stock trans. He bought it from the dealer NEW for about $2,200. Bunch of V8 adapters, all kinds of adapters made to go to that trans, because its known for its strength. Ill totally keep the Audi trans in mind tho now that you say it!! That one is awd and would be less cutting and less work.. Im going to be pushing a lot of power and beating that thing, drag racing..exc. It'll start out with maybe 5-600hp on just a stock r30 build, then hopefully forged build at 1000+hp.. Cant wait!! Thats a while down the road, have to build my bros new Datsun first, get a shop, im in the middle of a 50 state journey...exc Definitely send pics!!!

I didn’t quite get the full recipe. Do you interchange the 2.8 crank only? Which engine conrods and pistons do you use? From 2.8 or 3.2? If so, is not the compression ratio changed? I’d appreciate some numerical explanation and 161 vs 164mm conrods usage cases. TIA!

Yeah we live in Cincinnati and have, u pull & pay, LKQ, and a place called Besselers u pull & save, which is in northern Kentucky. They all have websites with the inventory, we CONSTANTLY are watching and looking... So we pretty much know when they have the stuff we need😂 The one engine isn't going to be used for a while, but it'll be there when we get to it🔥 You just have to plan ahead

There's people here in europe making 900hp+ on 3.2 with 2.8 crank, standard pistons and rods on E85. Theres only a handful of people on the world who are actually reving the vr6's to actually warrant the R30 once 'built'. Ps what's that aluminum plate I spot on the transmission side of the engine? 🤓
