I have the same year and model and it had been stored outside for the last 35 years. It also had a fairing and a butchered wiring setup similar to yours. My question is: What switch actually turns the headlight on and controls the high and low beam. I can make the left hand switch flash the lights in the down position but that is it. Thank you for your videos. I buy all my parts from your company, as I think you have earned my business many times over.

My R75/7 had a big Vetter fairing with an integrated headlight. The headlight in the fairing was actually the BMW headlamp with an extra wiring harness. I only had to remove the needed parts from the fairing and attach them to the headlight bucket. Much easier than all this. My frame still looked just as awful due to the hose clamps used to secure the fairing to the motorcycle frame.

Great video series - has been a huge help restoring my 1980 R100T. I have installed the Cyclops LED headlamp - excellent upgrade - do you have experience with the LED headlamps in these vintage models?

"The thin edge of the seal goes to the inside of the headlight?" I found that to be confusing. There is a thin ridge and a thick or double ridge on the seal. I was looking at the video for clarity on this and I think these videos are outstanding but that explanation went by a little too quickly and was confusing and there is nothing I can find on the web clearing this up. Is the inside the front of the headlight as it faces out? I think that is what you mean but not sure. Also , I bought one of your headlight rings and found the hinge mechanism to be almost too tight against the light reflector to get everything lined up and to get the clips in. Could you comment on that and clear up the headlight seal question. Thank you for your outstanding how to videos!

After watching again a few times I can see the thin edge goes to the back (inside you are calling it) of the lens.

Sorry if that was not clear. The groove in the seal is not quite in the middle. One of the raised edges is wider. The wider of the two sides faces forward.

I think you intalled the lens gasket incorrectly. Sounds weird, but the smooth side is actually supposed to be against the glass lens, and the ridged side facing outward, with the single ridge facing forward and the double ridge facing rearward. Seems odd, but it's how the factory did them. This better prevents water intrusion.

About that little clamp at the bottom of the bezel; does the hinge or the open part face the bucket? Sick of having the old stock bezel fall out on bumpy roads.

Oh dear. I waited 25 minutes to see how the front indicators were wiring into the headlight shell. My wires come from the headlight shell and presumably go into the holes in the iner sides of the 'ears' but what happens then. The bottom of the ears are sealed with the rubber bushes. How does the wiring rear the chrome indicator stalks? Thank you.
