Raul Julia did the most difficult main roles from England classical play . The theater was his best school in Puerto Rico later in New York and the rest is history. Raúl was respected by Directors,producers and actors for his professionalism and performance. I’m proud of him, because no matter the racial prejudice he demonstrated that he was a great actor.

I was fortunate to see Raul on Broadway in 1984 when he appeared in Design For Living with Frank Langella and Jill Clayburgh. Raul and Frank were like bookends- both tall, dark and slender. Talk about heat ! When I found out years later that the two men were very close friends, and had been for many years, I wasn't surprised at all. Their close relationship offstage translated into an amazing rapport in this play. It was a once in a lifetime experience to see them onstage.
