Quantum Pro fabric has a microporous membrane on the back of the fabric. Similar to Gore Infinium, it is technically waterproof, with a HH of 1000. However, it is not marketed as a waterproof fabric as one, 1000HH is too low to be called waterproof, and two, every stitch hole will allow water to come through. But, it does make it very water resistant, even if you don’t reapply DWR as often as you should. :) fun fact

Mate can I follow you somehow?!?!?

thanks for the video. Would u recommend it as a winter jacket? In europe its like minus 0-10 degress. Or do you have any other recommendation?

At -10°C, layering will be key. Start with a quality base layer, add a good fleece for insulation, and then top it off with the Cirrus Ultra. This combination should provide the warmth you’re looking for in those conditions.

How does it compare to the Xenair Alpine Jacket? Thanks
@tauntonleisure3 ай бұрын
The Xenair would be a step up from the Cirrus and defiantly orientated more toward active use. It is more breathable thanks to the combination of Pertex Quantum air face fabric and PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Active+ this also makes it more insulated than the Cirrus.

i would like to ask the comparison between cirrus ultra and mythic alpine light, thank u
@tauntonleisure2 ай бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your comment. Here's a comparison between the Rab Cirrus Ultra and the Rab Mythic Alpine Light: Rab Cirrus Ultra Insulation: Uses PrimaLoft ThermoPlume+, a synthetic fill designed to mimic down. It performs well even in wet conditions, making it ideal for damp climates. Weight: At 548g, it's slightly heavier than some ultra-light options but provides excellent warmth-to-weight performance. Durability: Features a durable shell with Rab’s Thermoionic lining technology (TILT) for enhanced thermal efficiency. Weather Resistance: Offers decent resistance to light rain, though it’s not a substitute for a waterproof jacket. Best For: Versatile enough for hillwalking, climbing, and general use in variable weather . Rab Mythic Alpine Light Insulation: Utilises 900-fill-power down combined with PrimaLoft Gold, offering superior warmth for its minimal weight. Weight: Extremely lightweight at around 250g, prioritising packability and high-performance insulation. Durability: Made with a Pertex Quantum shell, ensuring both softness and resistance to wear. Weather Resistance: Best as a dry-weather insulator but can be layered under a waterproof shell. Best For: Designed for alpine climbing, ski touring, and activities where every gram matters . Key Differences Insulation: The Cirrus Ultra is synthetic, and better for wet conditions, while the Mythic Alpine Light focuses on maximum warmth and minimal weight with down. Weight: The Mythic Alpine Light is significantly lighter and more compact. Weather Resistance: The Cirrus Ultra is better for variable, damp conditions due to synthetic insulation, whereas the Mythic is ideal for dry, high-altitude environments. Let me know if you'd like more details!

Would you suggest it over Microlight Infinity for practical use? I love the Firecracker colour of the microlight Infinity a lot but practicality wise & price wise this Cirus Ultra makes more sense. Please guide & advise 🙏
@tauntonleisure2 ай бұрын
The Microlight Infinity is a great option, especially if you’re drawn to the Firecracker colour! However, it won’t be as warm as the Cirrus Ultra, which offers more insulation. The best choice really depends on what you’re planning to use it for. If you let us know your plans we can provide some additional advice

@tauntonleisure Many Thanks for the prompt response 🙏😊 I guess I'm searching for a jacket which can be used at high altitude treks in Himalayas (4000+ Meters ASL) & more importantly I need a jacket which can keep me warm even when I'm not active. My Quechua Forclaz MT500 Down Jacket is brilliant while hiking but once I stop & stay in or out of a tent I can feel shivers!

considering I was delivered a defective Rab Ascent down jacket with a broken defective zip, Rab deserves not to be in business with their very poor quality control china made down jackets 😡 .
