I should mention that this vocal song is just a training version that they recoded for singers to practice like Shajarian for a real radio recording in the future, but they didn't find a person who sings better than him. It's the reason that the quality of the recording is low. After that radio channel decided to broadcast this song without any permission from Shajarian. This training version song had played for 30 years on radio in Iran.

After reading the comments, I think it's strange to disconnect the beautiful sound from the content and the meaning of the words. Clearly Shajarian is singing from deep within his heart, it is his connection with the content that leads to this passionate voice. I would suggest that those who feel a connection with this sound even if they are not religious should meditate on the meaning of what he is singing, and where the words come from 💛 x

@MaceAroundTheWorld Hey there mace, it feels endearing and humane to see "others" lookup and search about one's culture after all of these years of corporate backed exploitation-driven anti-iranism (iranzamin, in the geocultural sense to be exact) and media distortion/censorship. it always gives me goosebumps. I was raised with an open heart for anything humane and kind, by the same multi-lingual, thousands of years old culture and literature of iranzamin and as you mentioned, music is boundless off of "borders". I said kindness cause that's the oldest belief amongst the people of iranzamin, "Mehr va Mehrvarzi" (a concept that is one of the principles of mithraism, with the "swastika" as its symbol which is actually called "gardoone mehr" or "well of kindness", which nazis stole for propaganda purposes}. What you just heard is one perfect exemplary gist of that thousands years old culture. I'm just trying to give you context for you to make Iranian music more conceptually and emotionally tangible. Also i suggest maestro Shajarian's "Baroon" which is both very sensual and blue, because of our history. Stay safe and "be drowned is kindness" :)
@godlikesmesomuchchch4 жыл бұрын
This is not Iranian culture. This is just an Islamic/Arabic poem and has nothing to do with Iranian culture.
@IDreamElectricSheep3 жыл бұрын
@@godlikesmesomuchchch please stop denying and censoring iranzamin's history, if you're committing such an prejudiced act then what will be the difference between you and the regime?!! Haven't you learned enough about the consequences of censorship from just the past 41 years? This is a part of maestro Shajarianz legacy and he believed in it (I'm not religious, but it's my duty to respect the full life of this gem from our gem-adorned land, this is a part of his life and no one gets to choose which part must be told and which part must be censored) Arab people has been part of the great iranzamin's multilingual-cultural history at least for 2500 years, it was two major iranians who played key roles in documenting arabic into inscription form, they gathered and authored arabic grammar. and yes this is an religious prayer in arabic and yes it is fully composed in Iranian folklore music, just like "nastaligh" which was invented in iran by drawing Farsi (not Parsi) inscriptions. or the "islamic" architecture which is in fact iranian architecture and it's important basic principles were developed in iranzamin and then spread through the muslim world. The history of the world is woven together, it's not at all like every culture was developed in a bubble of it's own, rather it's the product of centuries and centuries of cultural exchange and conflict. If you insist on "us vs them" then how would you differentiate yourself from Iran's regime?!! This is what you need to ask of yourself. And back to my point, this is part of iranzamin's rich rich culture. Don't censor just out of emotional responses and personal beliefs.

Iranian song has a deep connection with Iranian literature, especially a very long poetic tradition. For example, in the following link, a song with a poem by Hafez is sung by Master Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, whose poem is as follows: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJjLn5-iZZd4iKs They, who never felt a love like us, do not understand us, I am nothing but what you see, no matter what others say. They, who are not in love like us, think they are the sane ones, But love knows very well that They are, indeed, the lost ones. I am not the only one who has fallen for their eyes, Even the moon and the sun are enchanted as well. This is my destiny that to remain enchanted forever, We are all servants and the beloved ones our lords. We may have nothing, but we still long for wine & the sound of music Sigh, what if they don’t accept our clothes as the payment for them They claim they are in love, yet they complain about the beloved, Such lovers do deserve the pain of separation May your beautiful eyes give me a clue, Otherwise I won’t know how to survive the way enchanted and lost that I am If those novice followers ever find out what goes in our mind, They will never ever count on us anymore

This is a great sorrow. We, the people of Iran, are going through a difficult time. The government of the Islamic Republic is making life harder for us every day, and every day the news of the execution or torture or arrest of protesters, political activists, etc. adds to our suffering. The death of Master Shajarian is a very, very great grief that has broken the heart of each and every one of Iranians, but the government of the Islamic Republic is beating and dispersing his supporters due to enmity with Master Shajarian and Iranian music and the Iranian people. As an Iranian teenager, I hate this government and wish it was overthrown as soon as possible.

Thanks for representing our legendary vocalist, Mohammad-Reza Shajarian! This piece is not music. This is reading some Holy Quran verses. There are 5 verses in different parts (Sureh) of the Holy Quran that all start with the word (Rabbana) and that means (O'God) as you know. This piece of invocation (or these 5 prayers, as God has thought people how to do that) is before Iftar, like Christian believers pray before eating. This piece and the story behind it as I see people mentioned it (it was a class practice, not recorded formally and just done once) is carved in Iranian memories for years. RIP, Mohammad-Reza Shajarian! You had a heavenly voice and now angles of heaven are listening to your wonderful voice! Again, thank you for recording this video!
