What a great reminder to keep ourselves in check. Rabbi Manis and his extended family are a big influence on so many. My life too has been impacted so positively due to his words and guidance. Thank you.

Psalm 141:5 "Let a righteous man strike me-that is a kindness; let him rebuke me-that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers." Proverbs 9:8-9 "Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you. Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning." The book of Isaiah should keep you in check! Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy should keep you in check! Not some arbitrary social agreement!

Also, while fully not overlooking the seriousness of Tisha b'Av, as far as the rabbi is concerned, if it needs to be called out, it needs to be called out, I truthfully don't believe it's an issue of hate. Some rabbis act in haste, some askonim act in haste and end up on the wrong side. To boot, The Rebbe the RaSHaB, in his ma'amar on Simchas Torah, 5659 (1899), explains what is sinas chinom. In all earnestness, these concepts of sinas chinom are important, but need to be understood.

Maimonides, in his Mishneh Torah, specifically in the Hilchot De'ot (Laws of Character), Chapter 6, discusses the obligation and method of giving rebuke. He notes that if someone sins, it is a commandment to bring the sin to their attention in order to correct them. The key is to rebuke the person privately, gently, and sensitively, in order to avoid embarrassing them Maimonides does elaborate on the concept of calling someone a "Rasha" (wicked person) if they continue to sin without heeding rebuke. According to Maimonides, if the person who has been rebuked does not repent after being privately and appropriately admonished, they are indeed considered a Rasha. He underscores the gravity of persisting in sin after one has been made aware of it and given the opportunity to change. This labeling as a Rasha serves a dual purpose: it highlights the severity of ignoring moral correction, and it sets a social and religious boundary, indicating that the individual's actions are not acceptable within the community's ethical standards. Maimonides emphasizes the importance of community standards and collective responsibility in guiding individual behavior.

Hi. While I'm not Jewish I care about the Torah, and I reviewed this person Manis Friedman a little. What this Manis Friedman person is saying, is shocking and has clearly no roots in the Torah. He claims no Jew will be punished by God, because of the long exile. How dare he say this ? God Himself is absolutely crystal clear about the level of Torah he demands from his people: complete devotion with heart and soul. All laws have to be followed. It is abundently clear that the Torah is not being followed, not even by the Orthodox Rabbis themselves (!). Nevertheless, Manis Friedman is a whole other level of law breaking than your average Orthodox Rabbi, I dare say (from what I see on youtube). All indications are that the Jewish Nation will soon suffer a Holocaust, worse than the Nazis, because they do not listen to a rebuke and do not return to the Torah (this includes Orthodox Rabbis, with their *prozbul* *heter iska* the lies of Rambam/Maimonides about the Jubilee, and breaking the Shabbos in the evening with the fake idea that it is a new day when you see 3 stars). If only these laws would be broken, perhaps there was still some hope on a Redemption with ease, but it is so much worse in total, isn't it. (I realize, virtually nobody agrees with what I write here, because you do not deal with a rebuke in any way whatsoever, and this is why I warn you: the next holocaust is going to be 7 times worse, or the Torah has been overtruned by heaven (no chance on that I dare say, not a chance because it is too important for all of humanity no matter what Israel thinks they can get away with)). Manis Friedman said something which also shocks me: he said that when a Jew sinned, he liked doing it, but that you shouldn't do it when you hurt someone else (I just thought, there is the set-up to overturn all laws in the Torah for which a simple minded person cannot see it will hurt someone else). No, a real Jew is embarrased and ashamed for doing wrong, isn't that so ? It should be so, we should besiege heaven that it will be so, that God sends down honest children who only want to be good, and earn the love and care of their God, HKB'H. Manis Friedman talks very slow, this is a trick in my view. He has no logic, but he is trying to be hypnotic. If you said what he is saying in a more high pitched and quick tone like a politician might debate, I think you activate the logical mind more, and you see that it has no grounds what he is saying. It is sophistry and trickery, but he talks so slow that you enter a sort of dream state, in which you absord whatever is being said as if you are a child in bed listening to a story. It is an emotional entry into the mind, which bypasses logical thinking. Just a random thought: put this smooth talker on double speed in youtube, to avoid his attempt to hypnotize you. Write it down, and think about it critically. It's a bunch of balloney he is saying, and it is not in the Torah ... and then he double backs and it is at least a little bit in the Torah. He is always playing on this edge, so that he doesn't fall outside of what people will clearly realize is bad (although thankfully, he probably already crossed that line for many people, and they noticed). I do feel bad a little for also being against Manis, bad for Manis I mean, but he just went way too far. What was that crazy talk about everyone being a homo ? We are all homos now ?! I don't even want to know. He didn't ask to be born ? What a shameful and ungrateful remark for the gift of life, what a FOOL. God needs mr. Manis to not feel alone, on what is this based ? How many creatures did HKB'H exactly make, on the Earth alone ? He just made up in his mind, I guess, that when he heard that 'God is one', that God must be lonely. This is making God into a human. He also shockingly said that God has a physical arm, a real arm ! The creator of heaven and Earth, has a physical arm. The creator of heaven and Earth, can create any amount of arms he wants, of any configuration including an infinity of ways we don't comprehend it at all anymore. He is not a human that he has a human arm, like we do. He creates and sustains our arms, all arms, everything. I think this means that Manis Friedman is an idolator, because his definition of God, is not the Creator of everything. There is now a Rabbinical rejection against this menice the Manice (lol), and he cannot even be part of a Minyan. Quite rightly so. I fear however that it will go the same way as with Rambam / Maimonides, who is another traitor, but you all forgot about that. In his time, he was also opposed strongly (if I recall). The Zionists also where opposed strongly and by the vast majority, and now look what happen. You cave in, you give up, you don't remember, you go along with it. I guess you can see from this, why heaven sends down a holocaust, and makes it 7 times worse each time, until Yisroel comes back (which they NEVER DID in the entire exile, never did it, never gave up on the shameful prozbul or the shameful overturning of the Jubilee or an absurd and shameful reason). Israel does not comprehend how important her own Torah is. I fear it may be Loshon Hara to defend Manis Friedman in all but the most gentlest of ways, because it implies an accusation against those who do their best against the mindless babble of this person M.F. Will he be the last straw for American Jewry, bringing down from heaven a complete wipeout of all of them, like in Germany hwere they also radically assimilated and increasingly lost all care for their Torah ? I think it is part of that. It's like a challenge, and a cut is being made. While the lawless ones loose their Torah, the few who care can no longer stand it, and may save themselves by severing themselves off and going another way. Go to Yerushalayim, go home ... the Redemption should be soon. Go home to serve your God, with all your heart and soul. Look, the world is falling. The world is at the end of its wits. Despite all the toys, they are still fools. Toys to create, and toys to destroy, when where the toys of humanity this powerful ? If this world falls, it falls from a great hight of technological accomplishment. It may shatter like never before. The world is falling, the idolators are falling: it must be time for Israel to rise, forever. If you are humble and accept your Torah, if you are honest and do away with the treasons which have occured over time, may you be a Lamp to the Nations, and live. Berel, dude, look in the Torah. Read it. Right ? Don't fall for a smooth talker, just because he acts all friendly like Santa Claus. Was Moshe Rabbeinu always friendly to his own people, is HKB'H always friendly to Israel, no matter what ? No ! Those who really care, say the truth, and it may not be pretty, and if it's not they get angry, for your sakes ! (Sorry to go on about it.)

I am very saddened when Jews attack other Jews. I am saddened by Kavod haBriyot in general, and it seems that social media is at its worst lately. It brings out the worst in me, even when I want to protect people, and I find myself needing to take fasts from social media and praying for the goodness to come out. It's so easy to take words out of context and post vids that distort Truth and divide people. It's much harder to remember that we are all made in the image of the Creator and have a spark of the Divine; we can and should look deeper and harder for Truth. I have learned much from Rabbi Manis, and I am certain he will be blessed for his good deeds. If I only had fingernail of his pinky's worth of good deeds on my soul, I would die happy and feel justified posting more words in public. As it is, I am a flawed Jew who is trying hard; I make many mistakes, but one I will NOT make is slandering another Jew. Thank you for the reminder, Berel.

I have been bullied for the past almost four years now. It got so bad that I was practically forced out of my neighborhood. I sold my home within the past year and now I'm having tremendous difficulty obtaining desirable, affordable, safe housing. I had work place bullying where I lived as well. I don't think I'll ever escape it. Seems like wherever I move wherever I go. It doesn't matter. It's unreasonable to believe that this is ever going to change. I'm tired, all of these things hurt my health. Within the past few years I've had some serious health concerns. All of the stress that was put onto me I couldn't bare it.

Here in Israel I also encountered this unfortunate thing. There is a way to criticize! In the way of the Torah, to the point of the matter without harming personally. There are sometimes wrong opinions that do need to be opposed, but those who really care about the laws of the Torah, should take into account the form of their reaction.

It is beyond disgusting. My daughter and I were bullied by an influential Rabbi who literally tore our lives down and emotionally flattened my daughter and her reputation of course as well as mine. Baruch HaShem my daughter and I never gave up on G-d but we dealt with a level of lashon Hara from this Rabbi and certain community members and their children that is beyond measure. Now we did prevail due to a few people and a couple honest Rabbis who took my daughter and I under their wings and fought for what was right. So yes as there are some bad seeds out there whom have their own deep emotional issues and project their emotional issues on to others, there are also angels amongst us who will do the right things. May we all merit the coming of His Mashiach Bezrat Hashem.

The bullying of Rabbi Friedman is nothing new. Presently, there are particular Rabbis who are making videos reviling him. Every Jew is free to disagree and debate among Rabbis is intrinsic to Judaism. However, these particular Rabbis who disagree with Rabbi Friedman's views are not merely expressing their reasons and arguments, but they are actually attacking Rabbi Friedman as a person. They are spewing hateful ad hominem attacks against him, and this is completely uncalled for, disrespectful, against Torah, and undermines these Rabbis' standing. I feel their motivations are unholy, based in jealously and causeless hatred. Rabbi Manis Friedman may have views that some find controversial, but after having known him personally and closely as one of his students for almost 40 years, I can testify to his authenticity, his integrity, his honesty, selflessness, and of his deep respect and love for every person, Jew and non Jew alike. He has lived a life of self sacrifice for others, and in many ways Rabbi Friedman is a visionary who has touched and positively affected the lives of literally tens of thousands.

Like you, I know Manis over 40 years. I love him and know him to be an honorable, honest person doing his best, striving to spread the Rebbe’s teachings and to do good. When I first heard him speaking about the subject of his latest book, that G-d “needs” us, I recognized immediately that this was going to cause trouble. I tried to warn him. The reaction, particularly what is coming out of Israel, is severe. Like with all things now, so close to the complete and final redemption, all events are unfolding exactly as G-d is directing them. This too will resolve for good only. Manis is no stranger to controversy. I am reminded of sitting with him at Beit Chana in Minnesota and discussing the commotion over an earlier book, Doesn’t Anyone Blush Anymore?” We are all a bit older. But he will survive and weather this storm too. My thought from the perspective of Moshiach and the redemption is that, like the Rebbe teaches, the Pekidah is the “dress rehearsal” for the Zechirah. We were living during the Pekidah then. We are living in the Zechirah now. May it be G-d’s will to lift his burden. Blessings of good only for you and your entire family together with each and every individual from the congregation of Israel and all the righteous from among the nations of the world.

Berel Solomon, Before you got out on KZbin to defend someone, did you ever stop to think maybe that you should investigate the claims being made? Did you read the Book that "Manis" wrote? You know, the one entitled "I Didn't Ask To Be Born?" What do you think "manis" is declaring here against G-d? He claims that he "manis," owes G-d nothing! In fact, he says G-d owes him an apology! Why? Because G-d didn't ask him if he wanted to be created! The very righteous Rabbis who investigated "manis" claims are only looking to protect Klal Israel against harmful speech, such as heresy! It's a mitzvah! It's not at all baseless hatred! There are many other things which "manis" said that would completely turn your stomach if you were only aware! So if you are a righteous Jew and you think someone is being misrepresented, please take a deep breath, and first investigate the claims. This is what a righteous Jew is supposed to do. All the best.

But, He needs us to accomplish His goals, not because He can't do it Himself, but because He loves us that much that He wants us to be one with Him (just as a couple must be one in purpose in a marriage, lest there be division and divorce). That's pretty awesome; that's amazing. Let's do this His way, and trust Hashem with our whole heart, soul and strength. Let us be one.

Isaiah 19:18-25. In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to YHWH of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. In that day shall there be an altar to YHWH in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to YHWH. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto YHWH of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they shall cry unto YHWH because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a Saviour, and a Great One, and He shall deliver them. And YHWH shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know YHWH in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto YHWH, and perform it. And YHWH shall smite Egypt: He shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to YHWH, and He shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them. In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: Whom YHWH of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel Mine inheritance.

I commend your courage to put yourself in the crosshairs to defend another person. Unfortunately, with any religion those who have the responsibility of safeguarding the theology of that religion build fences to say what you can and cannot believe and still be inside the fence. What they end up doing is building a barrier between their religion and Heaven. Unless a person is willing to know nothing, it is impossible to be open to what heaven can teach you. Manis Friedman, while I don’t necessarily agree with him, encourages people to climb the fence so to speak and see things in a different way. Because of this he is seen as a threat and will be targeted.

with all due respect, Rabbi Solomon. I don't learn Torah (as a female) but I know something is terribly wrong when I hear it spoken by a Chabad Rabbi or any Rabbi. It was during lockdown in 2020. Rabbi Manis Feidman came up on my feed on youtube. His voice very soothing and i listened to his lectures attracting Jews and non-Jews and people listened to him and believed him. In one of them he said something that even curled my blood and it was NOT open to interpretation. He said " We don't need G-d, G-d needs us" and other things such as were didnt ask to be born and sin. To make anti Torah statements and JEWS listen to him is so irresponsible and yes, the antithesis to what the Torah and we as Jews stand for. I trust Rabbi Mizrachi. His TORAH lectures are pristine and Rabbi Yaron Reuven and his kiruv work. So yes. Unless he explains his many mis-statements and where he got those from, he is a heretic.

Okay, I can meet you halfway here (I’m a Christian). What I see on the part of Christian priests and pastors who start going astray is in not respecting the boundaries between privately meditating on Scripture (even with personal inspiration), and teaching Scripture with authority. In personally meditating on Scripture, it’s normal to see new connections, make some logical steps and extrapolations, which are exciting and can be shared, but shouldn’t change the way that Scripture is taught and understood by students. So, privately, if you say, “God is love- love can be powerful desire that feels like a need-- God has more love and desire for us than we for Him- we don’t feel the need for Him, etc. etc.” I can see that as a meditation, but not as a something to teach others as a Universal Truth without qualification. “I don’t feel a need for God” is different from “I don’t need God in any sense.” But I would have to listen to him carefully first to understand what he meant.

He's a simple minded person who has taken offense to something he understood (or possibly misunderstood). Rather than complaining about it, R' Manis should take a few minutes to make a video and cogently clarify the offending points, thus extending an olive branch. This goes further to diffuse the situation that simply asking that people not act out on their feelings.
