It has been a hot minutes since the CB1100 has been on this channel. I still have it and I still ride it for sure! Less than a year old and it has already passed the older Rebel 500 in miles by around 1000. Why no videos? Well... I just ride it to enjoy it!

I got my CB1100RS after 1 year on a Rebel 500 (wich is awesome but it easy to outgrow) I did testride 4 bikes prior the purchase: The CB, the Kaw Z900RS, Yam XSR900 and the Bonnie T120. I was in love with the Triumph based on reviews, it surprisingly came out last due to the very heavy front steering (the CB is a lot heavier but a lot more easy to handle IMO). Kaw is close 2nd, but I find the Honda engine a lot smoother and I do not need the extra power of the Z. Yam is a real bang for the buck, a lot of bike for its price but also still too sporty for me. The CB is a real universal gem IMO. Fulfil all my needs: city commute, casual fun ride, long tours.. One advice: forget the Givi screen and get a Dart Marlin. It works like a dream for me (I am 175cm tall), and I was on few tours already on highways with over 80mph, no problems Overall, it was my dream bike and now I have one, hopefully for long long time. As you say, "The CB, the Kaw Z900RS, Yam XSR900 and the Bonnie T120" I'm still very much in the window licking stage but I keep coming back to similar groupings of bikes. I really like the XSR (all my other rides have been Yamaha's too), the Z900RS is good looking too. I like the T120 but I think I lean more toward the Speed Twin (did you look at it?). At 185.5cm, I feel a little oversized on some rides. The FTR and CB1000R also intrigue me... I like adventure dual sports as well but hate that transformer look... I'm so confused hehe, well back to licking windows. Enjoy the CB Vilmos.

You hit the nail on the head about the Bonneville--I pined over it until I rode one around the block and found it to be SO top heavy. I've seen a lot of people (who haven't ridden it) gripe about the CB1100 being heavy, but it carries the weight so well while still feeling grounded and substantial. I'll never get rid of mine.

@@SashaHonda14 I mean it's 250 kg but in motion it's very well balanced and manageable. It can be an issue if you are very short in the legs. The bike is a gem the motor is so smooth.

I have put 4k miles on my 2014 cb1100s since I bought it new in 2017 and I like it more every time I ride it. If you are looking for a good all around bike any one of the 2013 and up cb1100 bikes will work. Thank you Honda for making this bike it's a pleasure to own... I don't believe I would trade my 2014 for the newer cb1100 models or the new cb1000r for that matter, but that's me... it's pretty close to perfect in my opinion.

Agree with everything you said - I have been out of riding for 15 years . I had triumph 2001 Thunderbird 900 triple which was great bike I should never sold 15 years ago. I intended to buy a triumph street twin or a T100, which are nice , but test rode a cb1100ex and no comparison. I did not want to get off the bike, it just felt so right. Triumph dealer said I had to ride a T 120 for a good comparison. I did and the Bonnie is very nice, but the cb1100ex better ride for me . It is also so well put together.....fit and finish is amazing with zero corners cut. Above anything in this price range. Looks like it will last forever

I just bought a 2017 with 4200 miles on it, it’s being delivered this week from AZ motorcycles they only had her 1 day when I found her, I’m 66 and loved this bike when I first saw one in 14, ive wanted one every since and I saw this and got it. Back in the days of UJM, I rode a CB550, CB650 and CB750. I also wound up with a 1976 KZ900. I even had a 1989 ZX-10 now I am on my third Goldwing and the Jap inline 4's are still my favorite of all time. I could listen to your reviews all day long. BTW there are sport windshields out there that don't suck.

I test rode a 2017 CB100EX a couple months after owning my 2015 VFR and was surprised to find that it handled better and felt more agile than the VFR. The CB was my dream bike but I decided to go with a VFR because it met all my needs with commuting and I'm very happy with that decision so far. Now... I'm enamoured with a V4 and want to upgrade to a Tuono next year lol.

hiya from north wales uk, new subscriber, i own a cb1100rs 2019, purchased the honda for all the same reasons as yourself, i have fitted a givi a200 screen, so far so good, no buffering and stopped the sensation of handle bars being prised out of my fingers on acceleration , lol , also fitted new D.I.D x gold chain for extra bling. Always a talking point when i pull up, not a bike to buy if cleaning and detailing is not your thing, lol, great video, ride safe all

I have a red 2018 CB1100RS with the small dark PUIG 1482F screen. Not at all noisy. Also fitted some ProRace GP Cone slip on exhausts this last weekend. They sound awesome. As the reviewer says, you can ride all day on this thing. On UK roads it soaks up the bumps and corners so well. I have now added a rear carrier from Endurance in Japan and that is an excellent carrier (got it from WeBike in Japan). Best bike I have owned or ridden.

Hi, thanks for this beautiful ride. I really enjoyed visiting your ride and your comments. The day before yesterday I ordered a CB 1100 EX and yesterday I paid it. Now, I'm impatiently waiting for it although I know that I still have to wait until April until I can ride it because I've a season plates. Well, I'll look at it and touch it every day. I'm so happy that I got one of the very last CB 1100 EX. I didn't ride a CB 1100 EX. I just saw her and fell in love with her. When I noticed that Honda won't produce this wonderful dream bike anymore I searched a new one in the internet and found a dealer 380 miles away. Soon he will send the motorcycle to me. He said that I probably got the last one in Germany. Well, I found two more CB 1100 Ex but I'm sure they will be sold during the next days. I'd love to ride my motorcycle on your highways, too. I'm with you brother. I bought the new CB1000R last year and it was a lot of fun. However, I had the opportunity to get a 2007 Suzuki GSX1400 (K7) this year, 30,000km's on the clock and in pristine condition. Couldn't resist, so I traded the CB and now I just love riding the big GSX. Definitely brings back the memories from the time when they first came out. No abs or traction control, just the rider and the machine. Congrats on your new bike brother, I know you will really enjoy it.

I watched your review on the RE GT650. Which I have a deposit on. I’ve been looking for the CB1100EX since they were discontinued in the States. So, it figures that right after I put a deposit down on the GT I find a 2017 CB1100 with only 144 miles on it…ugh!!! Now I’m torn! 😆 Thank you for the videos…you do exceptionally good work!

Good idea to get rid of the Windscreen. I feel the same way about my CB1100 after owning a Goldwing for 6+ years I was very surprised at how smooth shifting and power response is,bought the CB sold the Wing and haven’t looked back very happy.

My 1976 550F Super Sport never got better than 37 mpg. My 1200 Sportster gets 55 mpg. Like your bike. Reminds me of my old bike. Great that it gets good fuel economy.

I have an old Honda Hornet 919 and just love its looks. I have ridden the CB1100 and loved it but could find one in my price range. i put the stock windshield on the Hornet and took it off because it was very noisy and its much better with it off , nice clean air. Good review Mate!

Ticks every box for me. I live in an area that literally doesn't have any straight stretches. Can go 65 or under all day unimpeded. Love Honda's and the inherent reliability. Love the classic look of Triumph and Royal Enfield interceptor - but wary of the reliability. Gotta get one...SOON!

I stumbled upon this bike while going to the Honda site looking at the 2020 Africa twin. I was considering a used 1982 goldwing. The cb1100 is very similar except for GW having a shaft drive, being carbureted and bigger wheels. I may buy a used one because I like the look and the simplicity. @@SashaHonda14 It is heavy in absolute weight, but not to get it off the side stand or to balance it. You'll be fine if you can get your feet down. The smooth engine also helps with slow speed manouvers, as it doesn't jerk around and pulls the bike in idle.

I'm with you, i too was disillusioned with Harley-Davidson, and i worked for HD from 1973 to 2010 when i was forced to Retire do to health reasons, i was lucky my 1st dealership was a HD-Yamaha dealer so i learned to like ALL bikes, and thru most of my life i had a Harley, and a Japanese Muscle or Sport bike, my Early Retirement however made me go to a 1 bike stable, the Harley's just spent too much time in the shop, So i tried several equivalent japanese bikes, the M109R, the 1700 Roadstar, the C90T BOSS, the Vstar 1300 Deluxe, then i took a test ride on a left over 2014 Honda Goldwing F6C Valkyrie and i was HOOKED best bike i have Ever Ridden and one i have no intent on ever selling. i looked at your CB1100 and liked it alot and even though i'm 5'11" i have 28" inseam and the CB was Tall and had me feeling unbalanced at lights, where as my Valkyrie being an even BIGGER BIKE felt stable. and lets face it i love the power of the boxer 6

I got to take out a Valkyrie as well and that thing is a beast. All that flat 6 power in a lighter package than a wing and it feels it. Good luck and keep that shiny side up!

@@RabidHedgehog yeah it's an INSANE Cruiser, Smooth as a Goldwing, but a 200lbs lighter and a slight tweak in the Cams or something, cause the Valkyrie has 125HP and 125 Ft lbs torque and the full dress wings we're more in the 110 range, the new 2019/2020 wings now have the Same HP and Torque as the 2014/15 Valkyries. The Valkyrie like the Rune Didn't Sell Well, it's an Odd looking bike, but Honda only made 5000 of them world wide for 2 model years, so their value is already climbing (not to the Extent of the Rune YET) but because they didn't sell at there $18,995 MSRP a lot of folks like me got one fresh out of the crate for $9995, and used ones are now that all the leftovers are gone selling for $11,000 in some area's , I like the Valkyrie cause it's just Different in Appearance at stop lights and biker bars people always as "What is that?" but for me i also like it cause it's a Return to what the goldwing was BEFORE the Fairings and Bags, and Not a Harley in the world (street legal) can catch it, for a 700lb bike it FLIES and Handles like a sportbike Cycle World Magazine called it the 4th Fastest Cruiser EVER built, beaten only by the 1700 VMax at #1, the Triumph Rocket III at #2, the Ducati Diavel at #3 and the Valkyrie 1832cc at #4 and you ride one you'll be HOOKED !! i was !!

I like the practicality of that bike. I prefer a bike for two up riding for the just in case she wants to ride. That flat wide saddle appeals to us older folks and our significant others. I’m a practical rider and have been since I sold my Kawasaki Mach 4 in the mid 70’s.. My first bike when I was 16 was a Laverda Gemini 200, then a Suzuki 250, a Kawasaki 250.kawasaki Mach 3 and a Mach My first real bike was a Yamaha XS650 until The. Kids and house took priority. So after a while I restarted my biker life with a ‘78 Suzuki GS750e in1997, In Y2K I bought a Triumph T-Bird Sport.which I enjoyed for 9yrs. Getting replacement parts was expensive and a long wait. So I bought a Suzuki DL1000 which o still ride around on.with a few modifications for a man that commute and day tour rides for a day or 2. Come to think about it I’ve been riding for 49yrs. I’ve enjoyed and will continue to enjoy riding around at my own pacer and my own style until arthritis prevents the use of throttle, clutch, and swinging the leg over the saddle. That Indian Sxout is looking good, too!

Own a W800 for more than 11 years and will keep it. Also own a CB1100 out of 2013 since 2014 and still like it as much as the W or the third bike I also own, a RE 500 Chrome Classic. Both also will be keepers. I like oil-aircooled beautiful retrobikes which work fine and have different motor layouts. All for their reasons. The CB is a very good and reliable motorbike if you like an Inline4 which I do. Mine has more than selfridden 72.000km on it's speedometer and never failed. Two of my bikes are put out of the market since a few years which makes them even more special for me as the fact that are not many of them had been sold in my country and you will very seldom see another one out on the streets when riding out. In a way sort of solitaires.

I’m an old guy (71). I went into the Honda shop to look at jackets for my dirt bike and the salesman (another old guy) says “what do you think of this?” Two hours later it was in my garage. It accelerates faster than the muscle cars of my youth, it’s very quiet, and the quality is top notch. In short, it’s a perfect bike.

I am totally with you on the looks of this CB and compared to the looks of the modern bikes. Like you mention, too much plastic and I find them uncomfortable and hard to seat myself on. Love this Honda CB! Can forward foot controls be put on this Honda? Because of hip issues, I can no longer ride with my feet directly underneath.

In certain weather in Oklahoma (usually a 90+ degree day), you can get heat coming off of it right on the forward part of the legs. But anything less it's not a bother.

Nice review, RH. I bought mine from the dealership where I work last August...I'd been walking by it for two years. Love it. Mods include a Road Comet fairing from Samurider (gorgeous and functional) and a Corbin seat. The suspension is amazing too for a stock bike. However, every reviewer comments on the smoothness of this engine, and it is, below 3200 RPM and over 5 grand, but it's four-cylinder buzzy in between. Same handlebar buzz as my Honda 750 Four, GS750 Suzuki, two GS1100E Suzukis, and my '86 Concours. I'm trying to figure out if I got one assembled the morning after Sake Thursday or if I'm just hyper-sensitive to vibration.

How many miles? If it is getting a bit on the older side it maybe time for a valve lash adjustment.,

@@RabidHedgehog Thanks, but we're talking less than 2,000 miles. I think it's nature of the in-line four beast. Maybe everyone short-shifts this thing (because you can) and don't really wind it out, but mine is a buzzer in that 1,000 rpm range. The good news is that in sixth gear at 3K you're pretty much already illegal!

I currently do not have a backrest on it, but this bike has had many two-up rides and does just fine. A backrest would be appreciated says my typical back seat rider, but the main seat is plush and comfy. And thank you for the support.

@@claudtalkz2194 guzzi v7 11 had emission trouble, the bike had a dead spot at 32 to 34 mph, aside from that, its a small bike that handles tremendously, shaft drive, traction control, 6 spd, abs, 5 gallon tank, perfect ergonomics, the stone 3, has euro 4 emissions, larger exhaust port, night and day, im 62 yrs old now and hate the big bikes, gold wing, Eldorado, adventure bikes with a 4 foot seat height lol, f6b, fjr, concord, downsizeing and winding down, not into speed anymore, like the v7 and the cb a lot

What preload settings did you settle on front and rear please. I'm a week into owning mine and i reckon we are similar builds. Bike is fantastic. Love it

I have the front side down to the second to last notch and the backs are on full pre-load or second to last depending on if I have cargo/passenger, or not.

Thank you. I have to compliment you on both this and your earlier EX reviews. Absolutely spot on. I have had mine about a fortnight now and its absolutely fantastic. Proper traditional all rounder. Not trying to be anything its not. So glad i chose it. I have tried the T120 and R9T by the way. This is more honest.

I sadly don't have it. I made a decision to combine two into a bagger on trade, which then was a terrible idea, so I ended up coming back to a standard bike again in the FTR, have not announced that yet here on KZbin, but I miss the CB and would take one back if one was around for sale. Still have the CX500. It's in my cousin's shop getting ready to be taken down to the frame, cleaned, engine gone through, and made a bit more sound to have some more daily action.

I do not know how the "new" Enfields ride or handle but I did test ride a new one about 3 years ago, The entire bike shook, rattled and felt like it would fall apart. It felt like I was riding riding a bike from the 1940s haha. And extremely lacking in power. I would never ever buy one if I could help it, just saying

Honda’s run really smooth and are dependable with low maintenance. You cant really judge a motorcycle until you’ve ridden it a couple of weeks. A small racer type fairing might make it easier to cut through the wind. They’ve always worked for me.

@Jeff Allenbrand I wanted to see this bike, but my dealer said they never even got one. The larger regional dealer didn't have one either, said they got 2 earlier and sold them both pretty quick. If Honda doesn't support sales of a bike, it's not going to happen. I suspect lower profit margins of a no-frills, well-made long-lasting product is too much to ask for today. 😢sad.

If you do get a 'new" Guzzi V7III I would suggest you get the "Special" model for it has twin clocks whereas the other V7III models only have a single clock. My 2016 V7II Stone has twin clocks. Why they did away with twin clocks on 2017 and forward on all models except the Special was a bad idea, IMO. just saying ​@@RabidHedgehog​

@@RabidHedgehog I know you like the Griso, but maybe you prefer another model. Do you see the V7 III Carbon ? It's a beauty. My choise goes for the V85 TT. They are not available here in Morocco, but sooner the Piaggio dealer will import them. Why the V85 TT? First i like the Italian retro trail design, the build quality or the moto Guzzi, shaft drive, traction control, cruise control, abs, tft screen, soft seat, nice brakes and suspensions, front and rear led lights and last but not least the price. Who is 11 000.€. I have a Piaggio xevo 250 that i use evey day, i bought it 5 years ago. it's so confortable, economic, repliable with lots of storage. How far can you go between fill-ups? Is there a fuel gauge or just a low fuel warning?

Bike maxed out at 210 one time with easy going riding but average was in the 160s- 170s and yes it has fuel gauge, mpg estimates, distance to empty, and warning light.

I also own a 2017 CB1100EX (known as the CB1000CAH here in Canada, the ca standing for Canada and the h meaning 2017 model) but it is otherwise identical. I was VERY fortunate to get this machine as the dealers NEVER had any in stock, so 2 buddies each ordered them directly from Honda Canada. The one I ended up with had 127 kilometers on it when I bought it. The original owner picked it up on Friday and returned it the next Monday and asked for his old bike back. After being allowed a test ride I told the dealer, "I can't imagine anyone not absolutely loving this bike". So what was the issue for the original purchaser? Apparently he was 6'5" and weighed nearly 325 pounds. He loved the bike but the CB1100EX was just physically too small for him. Turned out it was a VERY expensive weekend for him but it saved me almost $2,000 for a machine with full warranty minus a week. NOW the CB1100EX model has been totally discontinued here in Canada. Honda Canada put absolutely no marketing effort into it and my dealer said he tried to order 3 of them for stock but couldn't get them. Anyway, I now have a classic on my hand and as you mentioned, everywhere I park it, it draws a crowd. This is a companion to my 2009 loaded Goldwing (which my wife adores) and it allows me to have some fun when riding solo. I feel truly blessed to have this CB1100 in my stable. When I went to Canada's biggest motorcycle event in Port Dover last year, I didn't see another one, out of over 300,000 bikes. I was mobbed when I got off the bike before I could even remove my helmet and there was a crowd around it again when I returned several hours later. I can't believe that Honda would just totally neglect this potential market after putting all the effort into designing the bike in the first place.

@Rabid Hedgwhog Good video. So, what is the maintance schedule ? Does the valves have to be adjusted or are they hydraulic valves ? And how often do you mess with the chain (clean, oil/lube, ect) ? I had a '73 Honda CB350 back in the day and it was a great little bike. My then girl friend persuaded me to sell it. I sold it to a friend and he wiped out on a curve not soon after on it (only a 1/2 mile from Sibley Hospital in D.C.). He got pretty banged up, multiple broken bones and totaled the bike. But it was bascially his fault in that he was riding it like a bandit out of hell. Though his father complained to mine for me selling him the bike. Go figure. How does the Honda CB1100EX compare to the new Triumph T-120 in your opinion ? And if you have ever test rode a Triumph Street Triple, if so, how would you describe that bike in terms of comfort as well as how it handles on a freeway (being such a light bike) ? Yeah a few questions on my part, haha. Oh, one more question for now. How does the CB11000EX compare in terms of power and handling to that of a Harely Super Low 1200T(which I currently own) ? Yes, I still have my 2016 Motto Guzzi V7II Stone as well, just got its 6200 mile maintance done on it (valve adjustment, liquid changes, cable adjustments, ect). Now I have to also shop around for a good price on replacing the tires on it. Anyways, remember what the door mouse said and ride defensively.

As I have mentioned on my comment above, I did test ride both. Prior to that I was really on the edge buying the Triumph but on the ride days it came out short against the Cb. The bike is great tho, lighter, lower then the Honda, also a torqier. But I found the front very heavy on the steering, it was almost like fighting hard to put it into sharp corners.. Also, I missed that character everybody admired on the forums and the reviews. For me it was flat and quiet, pipe change is a must to a Vance & Hines, which is not cheap. The new CB ('17-) just sound right out of the box. I also considered little thing like the small storage compartment under the seat, and luggage hooks etc. In summary, I did like the T120 too but no way I would trade my Cb1100rs for one

Clean lube and inspection of the chain every 600 miles with oil and filter at the first 600 with 8K intervals after. Inspections of fastener and such every 8K, spark plugs every 8K, valve tolerance inspection every 12K. So really it is not much stuff to do. I always inspect clean and lube chains on time or after rain, lube the cables and such after rain and check tolerance of like the throttle cables and such near often. The Speed Triple is a fantastic machine and handles well, but not as comfortable as the CB, yes faster, but not as much comfort. The Triumph Bonneville I have not had a chance to ride a liquid cooled unit at this time still as the dealer we have kind of don't let me do anything. A Street Cup is at the Indian dealer I film at here so I am probably going to get a good ride out on it. The CB is much faster than the Sporty and smoother and comfort for riders are on par with one another and the passenger (per my wife) is to the CB1100 as well due to the less harsh suspension and seat for passenger.

It was a blast, light, nimble, flickable but lacking somewhat in comfort for long rides and too light for long term Highway travel (i Believe). But I did love the bike. I also test rode the "new" Triumph T-120 (liquid cooled). But it was struggled on curvy roads like it had to be forced to go into turns. I liked the bike other than that but it was enough not to want to buy one. AM looking forward to test riding the "new" Triumph Speed Twin. And yes my Sporty does feel like a tractor, haha. It handles well enough and since I replaced the stock seat with a Saddleman Seat it is now very comfortable for long rides. But it is not a fun bike like my MG V7II. Never yet have test rode a Honda CB1100EX. The bottom line is that I like not having to mess with a chain since the Harely has a belt drive and my Motto Guzzi has shaft drive. One less thing to concern myself with. I love the MG V7II but it is to be honest lacking power/weight for long distance Interstate/Highway travel IMO. Great on country roads and city travel. Both as you know are air-cooled which also means less future maintenance/cost. But still the Honda CB1100EX does fascinate me. If it only had a belt drive instead of a chain drive, haha P.S. You owe it to yourself to test ride a "new" Triumph T-120 to compare it to your Honda CB1100EX. The Street Cup is an entirely different bike in terms of ride, handling and so on than the T-120.

Last imported to the US by Honda in 2017. Originally around $12,000, now available for a shade less than $10K if you can find one. ABS is standard. One beautiful bike, if not that practical. I have an NT700VA which is much more practical (bags, fairing), but not as good looking as the EX. Can't have everything, I guess.

NT is not a bad machine there ride it safe. As stated I got this bike for such a screaming deal it was a no brainer to go for it. I do see prices not coming down on other leftovers, but when I saw this bike marked to 7500 I was like WHAT!? So I went down there and could not find it, thought I missed it, nope, still in that box in the back. They pulled it out and she had 0 on the clock. They opened it up completed some PDI on it and allowed me to do the initial ride after setup ( I was a service manager with a Harley dealer before this so they knew I was going to care for it ). Man that first ride I got a taste of it, brought it back so they could run the computers and make sure all was kosher, and when that was done I went on the extended test ride and man I was hooked and still am. I am one of the few that can actually say that every single mile on that clock is mine, and every single mile marked is a smile too.
