like her history of repeating lies cooked up by a partisan opposition campaign to try to sway an election? being a political activist, while pretending to be a journalist or what about the history of blatantly lying about a medical treatment in order to coerce people into taking a treqtment they didnt need produced by one of her networks main sponsors.... that kind of history?

Thank you, CBS, for having the GUTS to discuss how much danger US Democracy is in right now. Mainstream media has been trying to minimize or hide these dangers because they are afraid of “offending” the perpetrators themselves. This has changed my mind about CBS. Thank you!

There's no democracy in the United States. Hey, did you want to go to war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia? Because you did. You have no idea what is going on because our "news" media doesn't report on it. Did you even know the US overthrew Ukraine in 2014 and this led to a civil war? That was NINE YEARS ago, and it's NEVER been mentioned, although we have absolute proof of this. The US doesn't even have "news".

Reading Prequel is deep, well presented, and eye-opening. She tells the truth about the era leading up to the WWII in the political world and the push to have a Theocracy. It is so much like today that I am scared we are going to fall into the deep well of Evangelical fire to make our free country into a Theocracy instead of a Democratic Republic with a constitution.

I haven't read her book yet. I'm curious as to whether she covered the conspiracy against FDR in 1933-34. At (1:40) Rachel mentioned "well funded" and I believe she nailed it. What we've been witnessing over the last decade is too well organized and too well funded to be some random anomaly. There has to be an agent provocateur. But where do we look? It's been said that fascism is a collusive effort, or marriage if you will, between wealthy industrialists and the state. An agreement to take care of each others needs in exchange for mutual support of each other's agenda. The power seeking autocrat needs the financial support of wealthy industrialist who are more than happy to provide it in exchange for certain favors (not entirely unlike the scenario that brought down the Weimar Republic). IMHO this is eerily similar to the events that occurred during 1933-34 when some of this nation's wealthiest tycoons, industrialists, bankers, wall street financiers and captains of industry, conspired to overthrow FDR and the republic and install fascist regime. This event has come to be known as the "Wall Street Putsch", a bit of history that once exposed was quickly and effectively buried by the wealth, power and political influence of these wealthy individuals. What's frightening is how close the conspirators came to being able to pull off such a coup. America's republic survived largely because of the efforts of a certain General Butler (not unlike what happened with General Milley). Back then the conspirators were angry at FDR's New Deal Plan and the threat it posed to their fortunes. They were more than willing to sell out the Republic to save their fortunes. Perhaps, to find the agent provocateur behind this most recent assault on our republic we need only follow the money. Could it be a multi-billion dollar industry facing an existential threat by a left leaning government that's beginning to listen to climate science?

Ya know... It may not mean much to many, and that's ok, but one of the very few find memories i have as a child was of going to Barnum and Bailey's circus in San Diego California when i was knee high to a grasshopper. I'm so very thankful they came back and hope that the universe will grant the opportunity to take my daughters to see them one day.

Definitions are the entrance-key to a discussion, as Maddow well knows. "Fascism" must be well-defined before speaking about it and before anyone can understand the dynamics at play. The whole notion of "Freedom of the Press" for example is an admission that there exist efforts to restrict ideas, alter perceptions, form basis-justification of rule, just as communication of any form is a 1) celebration of differences, 2) curiosity about those differences and also 3) fear and insecurity about the completeness of ones' own ideas and thoughts and 4) an effort to justify the removal of privilege, necessitating convincing argument, conflict and war. But from whom does this initially come? If fascism were to be defined as an intolerant form of governmental power in which one (monarchy) or more people (serfdom) - or a class of people (dictatorship of the land- and means-of-production--owners) who and which have been leaving out more and more of the people servicing it - and on the other hand the people-of-service's ability or inability under this rule to satisfy their basic needs while the efforts of these people-of-service to achieve this satisfaction through means "benevolently" open to them are made increasingly and impossibly out of reach... if this is so, fascism has always existed. The question is when - the point in time - when the perceived/projected benevolence becomes inkongruent with the ability of those servicing the ruling powers to survive. I like to call this the "Point of Uncle Tom". The press-companies are engaged in efforts to define the conflict in the ways which best aid its supporters. The "Wall Street Journal", NYT, WBAI, TYT, CBS and FOX are all catering to their supporters and constantly figuring out how to frame events so that it can claim the for it appropriate level-of-benevolence either pushing the Point of Uncle Tom away or calling it closer.

The lesson that should learned about fascism is it doesn't happen in a void. It comes from a failure of weak ineffective democracy. The Weimar republic. This is what corporate interests don't want to talk about.
