Every time Rachel speaks, I'm left in awe. Only she could have uncovered this now-obscure sequence of historical events to throw a blinding light on what we face today. IMO she herself will go down in history as the greatest journalist of our time.

Isn’t it the truth! When Bill Moyers retired, I feared we would never again have an extraordinary journalist with a conscience on the air. News had turned into junk food not fit for a growing nation. Then along came Rachel. Not only a consummate researcher and essayist, but also and at the same time, a model representative of the LGBTQ community. She would probably not agree with that title, neither do I, frankly, but in reality, we needed her for that purpose, as well. May she live long and keep prospering infinitely.

Fact I watched the whole thing shows how good she is and brave to call out our current bs and how letting them get away with these things is bad. I'd argue this story and Nixon being pardoned set us up for our current situation.

I so miss Rachel on MSNBC nightly, but thankfully she’s at least on on Mondays. It’s so characteristic of her to appear to start off in left field on some historical obscurity only to tie it in neatly to contemporary events. I didn’t understand the little eruption in the audience at one point.

The abruption were trump supporters, saying she supported the "lie" (the election wasn't stolen). There is no convincing those people of any factual truth. They will support trump till the day they die. As an American, It's really quite sad to see.

I have on a few occasions thought "hold on, that can't be right" when listening to Maddow, and on investigation, she has always been correct. @@ThePhilfyPhil Well the big one would be her Russia, Russia, Russia stories that made her wealthy. ""While he was president, President Trump never encouraged Americans to get vaccinated."-Lie. The Russian Bounty Story-Biden administration made clear in a fact sheet released that the CIA's intelligence on the matter is far from conclusive, acknowledging that analysts labeled it "low to moderate confidence." "Now we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person," Maddow said on her show the evening of March 29, 2021.-Lie During her election coverage on Tuesday, the host accused the “far-right” of using “open carry” as a means to intimidate voters.-there is not an ounce of fact there. Rachel Maddow embarrassed herself and MSNBC when she hyped the fact that she “got Trump tax returns,” only to reveal two pages from the president’s 2005 1040 form.

Tell it like it is? You mean like how she said Russia will cut the power in winter & we'll freeze & that never happened? Or how she said Russia made Trump president but somehow didn't do it again? It's a fact that Democrats attempt to interfere in other countries. I know because I attended one of their meetings in Taiwan. The group was called Indivisible Taiwan & their publicly stated goal was to get involved in local Taiwan politics. This was in 2017 & a man, David, who worked for Hillary when she ran against Obama was there as well as Jane who was an ally of the Taipei Feminist Book Club while the leader of that club was Amanda Meyers. Jane said at one meeting, "Feminism used to hate men." I know that because I was sitting right next to her when she said it.

Stellar speech! What a great way to weave the tale of our past together with our current issues. This glimpse of our history helps us to be aware of how these issues were dealt or not in the past. We need to understand why letting our currenr uncomfortable and wrong political shenanigans slide by without any meaningful punishment does not act as a deterrent for present or future wrong doers. As Rachel has often pointed out before in a Mark Twain quote, "History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme." Students and citizens need to learn past truths and facts even when those can make us uncomfortable. That historical awareness, those truths, and that knowledge can hopefully aid us in our present and future decisions.

She is a paid shill of the military industrial complex. she gets trotted out to speak in support of weapons manufacturers to put a liberal shine on the American war machine and make people like you think you are the good guys. This is Mockingbird journalism and you know nothing of history or the world around you, outside of U.S. propaganda you got taught in school. She supports all the imperial wars America is fighting right now for profit and power.. but we don't talk about those wars and if we are forced to, we're fighting those wars to "stop terrorism" and overthrowing governments is spun as some humanitarian mission.. all while we continue to kill and torture innocent people abroad and the world hates us more by the day.

Who else exists who can deliver a message so eloquently, so passionately as Rachel Maddow today? She conjures up the notion of a soothsayer; begins with a witty ditty and leaves you in deep thought. Truman probably chose to "let it go" so as to allow the nation to heal, for grieving parents to grieve, but what now...can the USA afford to look away from Trump?

Yes and be much wiser and informed for it. She makes history come alive and she is so thorough in her research. I also love listening to another historian, Heather Cox Richardson who has a YT channel and posts once a week. Prof. Richardson has a 17 part series on the history of the Republican Party which is completely fascinating.

Just like her podcasts, her speech was enlightening and with an important message for our time at the end. She makes fairly recent history, that I for one never heard of, so interesting and then she ties it into the world we are living in today, perfectly. I could listen to her for hours, and have BTW.

Rachel can weave a wonderful story. I recommend all her books and podcasts because of the pain-staking research that goes into all of them. All worthy ideas to ponder...history seems to show us that the more things change, the more they seem the same.

People need to stop treating presidents as their saviours, prophets and superheros. They are not. A president can be the smartest person but fail because the entire smart cabinet runs into an opposition of stupidity. A president can be just a mediocre workhorse who succeeds thanks to her hardworking staff, with no IQ brilliance needed. And a president can be a glamorous moronic megalomaniac surrounding himself with litspickles, but the stability of the system can still endure them. They always remain people.

Love and appreciate Rachel and her research team for giving us the full circle of history. Have been a fan since she first went on the air. Would also like to give a large shoutout to MSNBC for allowing her to have that long uninterrupted beginning to her shows so she can put her story into full context. Was listening to Christiane Amanpour being interviewed one night. She said that as a foreign and war correspondent she needed 20 minutes to explain the history of how we got to that moment. With editing she could the basic points across in 10-15 minutes. She had, on a good day, 2 1/2 minutes before a 5 minute commercial break.

Rachael is never afraid to speak truth to power, and this speech was no exception! My husband and I discovered her on Air America years ago and have been avid followers ever since. Loved BagMan and everything else she does. Another brilliant job of tying the past to the present, as she is currently doing with her podcast "Deja News" I miss her nightly shows so much, but I'm just grateful to have her on Mondays. She is like a fresh rain in a dry desert and deserves high praise for using this venue as a golden microphone. There is no one else like her!
