They told Gina to go on a Zoom call with 40 marginalized people... It's only fair to put Zegler in a struggle session with 40 MAGA Republicans. "How did Rachel's words make you feel?" 😆

Tom Cruise is a mega movie star but I remember when he jumped on Oprah’s couch or called Matt Louer “Glib” He was make fun of mercilessly. He recovered because he learned to keep his mouth shut and stay off social media. If she does the same, she’ll be fine.
@solomonrivers5639Ай бұрын
The Tom Cruise comparison is even better when you remember his career was assisted by Scientology, a religion that infiltrated the US Government to erase less than favorable documentation of their history. That plot’s name?? Operates Snow White
@bilson7523Ай бұрын
Idk, the problem for this comparison is Tom Cruise is also really likable, has an insane work ethic, and was already well established in Hollywood. Zegler's controversies also have a history of embroiling the studio. Something I don't think Cruise ever did. That changes the dynamic quite a bit. Put bluntly, Zegler's controversies are with the studio and the audience, not other celebrities. That's not a good position to be in when you're a upcoming actress lauded mostly for her youth and beauty, in a town that will always have someone younger and more beautiful than you.
@Linklex7Ай бұрын
@@bilson7523Don’t let revisionist history fool you. Tom Cruise was very much hated during his entire relationship with Katie Holmes. Outside of Mission Impossible, his movies were bombing. People thought he was an arrogant entitled prick. He had to work his way back into the fans’ good graces. The fans did not give him a pass just cause he was Tom Cruise. He had to earn it back.
@Scoley01Ай бұрын
Fair point and maybe Tom Cruise isn’t the perfect example. I was just simply trying to say that celebrities have a long history doing and saying terrible things and eventually being forgiven for it.
@bilson7523Ай бұрын
@@Linklex7 No, I'm not revising anything. At the time this all happened, Tom Cruise was an established name with serious credibility in the industry. Even had his own production studio. Plus, while his thing with Katie Holmes was cringe and caused tabloid storms, his issues were never turned towards the studios or the audience. That matters for recovery of your image. Zegler is a B-List actress whose causing controversy with both of her first major roles. A controversy that is making her intensely unlikable at a time when Disney desperately needs a hit. To be crystal clear, I'm not saying Tom Cruise's controversies didn't matter. I'm saying they aren't remotely comparable to Zegler. The Katie Holmes situation was never going to cost Cruise a career. Zegler's poor media competency may absolutely cost her a career.

Just want to point out that she wrote that original post she had to apologize for *DURING* the intermission of Romeo and Juliet, the Broadway show she’s in (she’s Juliet). The lower end ticket price is about $85 and the upper end is $300. People paid real money to see her in a play and her head was occupied with yelling and scolding people on Instagram.
@Pixie桜Ай бұрын
Wow. Doesn't appreciate the opportunity she has! That would be someone's DREAM.
@bilson7523Ай бұрын
Yeah, I think this is her agent making this apology happen. Zegler is not in a particularly healthy spot right now career wise, she desperately needs her next couple films to go off without incident. Let's be real: It's Hollywood. There is always someone younger or more attractive waiting, if she becomes a problem that also doesn't pull audiences, she'll get dropped overnight
@Renfair333Ай бұрын
She doesn’t have anything coming up. She had a career handed to her, straight into the lead of a Spielberg film, and she completely nuked it.
@Leamichellefan2244Ай бұрын
Yeah, but no one‘s buying it because we all know it’s a disingenuous performance piece and as far as I’m concerned any entertainment thing that she touches can continue to flop from now until the end of time.

Can she sing? I'm prepared to believe it. Can she act? probably. Who cares? An inapt analogy. You show up to a job interview wearing a t-shirt that says "I'm with stupid". The obvious explanations are 1) you don't care or 2) you don't think you have to care. There are literally 10000 other girls who might have similar aesthetics, who can sing, dance, act, mime, do their own stunt work, and play the banjo. Unless she's genuinely willing to sacrifice her career to speak her mind (and burn anyone unfortunate enough to be tied to her commercially), it seems delusional. A comparison I made was Lindsey Lohan. She messed up, so Emma Stone took the career that could have been hers. There are a lot of actors who had immense talent who burned it by being difficult (think Val Kilmer). If you're horrible to work with or could tank a film, then any subsequent project is complicated. If she's attached to something, then maybe top-tier actors refuse to work with her. If someone was perfect for a role but ran away screaming in the other direction, then that would be a cost she's attached to hiring her.

The implication is “what has she done that’s been successful?” and it’s a valid question. Where does this ego come from to think she could be controversial and still keep working? She started with a bomb, did another bomb, then not-a-bomb-but-disappointing and now a fiasco. Any actor in that position should be stepping very carefully. She was given a once-in-a-generation opportunity for a performer; her first job was a lead in a Spielberg film and proceeded to p^^s it up the wall.
