@borderline67 well whether you think building trust for things you're scared of is progress and part of the healing process, cause responding negatively to stimuli is not only dependant on pain, it can be based on previous bad experiences or just instinctual fear as well and learning to get past them is progress for a cat. like if you hated yourself and then over a year you hated yourself less or you actively worked on a phobia you had and improved your reaction to it does that not count as progress??

So I think although it may not be commonly found in stores like how America has WHOLE AISLES top to bottom stocked with Xmas decor, there's still some Xmas decor in Japanese stores. So maybe she went out of her way a little, especially if she was looking for something specific. But I don't think she had to go do like online shopping for everything or something

Wow I really love your new house, you both have excellent taste, that just needs to be said. I really really like how It's a mix of both Japanese and American style, so cool. I also love, love love that It's such a cat paradise. Your cats are so unbelievably lucky to have you two as parents, they obviously adore the both of you, I can't wait for the video (I'm really hoping there will be one) where you show all the cool cat stuff you designed in your new house especially for your furbabies. I think It's so amazing to see people loving animals so much. I wanna end on a sad note though, just for a bit. I just lost my mom a week ago, very suddenly, it was so sudden and such a shock that I have a hard time believing this happened. My parents have been married 53 years so my dad is understandably very sad. Christmas was always our favourite time of year as a family. I mean my mom's funeral is in a few days, kinda hard to get in the mindset of Christmas so I try to avoid it. Although I have been actively avoiding everything Christmas related, I honestly was so excited when I watched your new video - crying of course but that's ok. But your video made me happy for a few minutes, so thank you for that. I always love seeing what you guys are up to and your cats are my favourite cats of all the cats I follow on various social media outlets. Wowww that was the longest comment I've ever done, I'm not a big commenter though. Something just came over me and I had no control of the feelings pouring out, I'm sorry if this was inappropriate or something, that was not my goal. But if anyone reads this, my point by sharing all that was to remind people to show love for the people you love and care about, while you still have time. You never know what can happen tomorrow. Im a longtime fan okay so they live in Japan which is very crowded and housing is expensive. I have seen them from their small apartment where Jun has to duck to get to the kitchen from the genkan, and Rachel sitting on the floor while editing, to their bigger apartment which was so wonderful and now to a a CUSTOM MADE TWO STORY HOUSE, with a HUGE garden. This is so rare! They bought the land ofc but i cant imagine how expensive all this is? Im so happy for them! Time really flies!

Our tree decoration rule was to get small bells and felt/knitted/cloth or wooden ornaments and put those on the lower level of the tree for the cats to play with and all the delicate and/or breakable ornaments at least half the way up the tree and to the top so they were out of reach of the cats. Cats are going to play with the dangly things, so this kept things much safer for them and for us. Your decorations are very lovely!!

The lights against the stair window are so gorgeous and they're subtle enough that you could leave them all year round! I love how cosy it all feels❤️❤️ Also you have inspired me to put a blanket down around my own tree for cat naps!

I'm curious as to what is traditionally cooked in Japan for the holidays. Could that maybe be a Jun's Kutchen episode? Or...as an American, I am always fascinated and up for hearing more about Japan's interesting embrace of KFC for Christmas 😅

@@vogelvrouw I don't think it's a myth, lol. Chris (Abroad in Japan) did a video actually showing how you can reserve a large roasted chicken for Christmas and another year, I think he wanted one but they were sold out.

It is a kind of an "alternative" tradition in America to eat Chinese food on Christmas. Also coming from near NYC, a lot of people do this especially people of Jewish background and others who don't believe in celebrating Christmas. I'm not sure about Japanese food but I bet some stores are open.

In the movie A Christmas Story the home cooked turkey dinner gets ruined but Dad saves the day by taking them all out for Peking Duck as all other restaurants are closed. Not sure if this reflects the tradition or caused it in the first place.
