Really great job! I would try one more time on the Gallery wall. Maybe send your frames and measurements to someone you know from instagram or another artist you admire and let them take a stab at it. Right now it’s good but I could see it being tweaked a little bit to make it even more spectacular.

Just for everyone’s reference: if you would like your own custom color that you mixed, you can fact bring that custom color on a piece of paper or such and they can scan it and mix that exact color. (Edit: I just wanted to clarify that I didn’t mean this in a critical way! Just in a make other’s crafts easier way!)

“Brush strokes” - not wrinkles, not saggy muscles…at 63, this transformed my self image. Thank you, Rachel ❤. This room is so cozy
@vikkilooper4075
@vikkilooper4075 Жыл бұрын
I think wrinkles and gray hairs and cellulite tell our story of life. I'm 43 and I'm gonna let all my gray come in without covering it. I'm not gonna worry so much about my cellulite because I don't have enough life left to waste it when I have a partner and family that love me for who I am. Laugh lines and forehead wrinkles show that I've lived and I have enough space to live even longer. Remember it's about the life you lived and not what you look like when it's over that's important. It took a long time to decide this for myself and occasionally those bad thoughts creep back in but I hope I can stay on my path of self love and acceptance and I think you and your life are just as beautiful and worth thinking the same ❤

I have gray hairs at a younger age than might be expected and cellulite too, and I think about the way that these are framed in society often. If I was perhaps told as a kid that they were like pixie dust or scales, I'd be thrilled to think that I'd grow up to be a mermaid or a fairy haha. They really don't have to be these things that we're afraid of!

I too like a DARK QUIET bedroom without the glaring light. My room is antique RUBY RED, with one wall that has a silky curtain ( dark red with Chinese orange soft flowers and gold) and it covers the WHOLE wall top to bottom. It covers up a stupid little window and makes the room look elegant, extravagant and larger. It flows onto the bed with a maroon red bedspread. It's lovely! Snuggle during the day into the pillows and take a great nap as if it was night time!!! More people should try the dark bedroom.......it's amazing. Love your green room by the way!!

Unfortunately this advice is coming to Rachel a little late, but for anyone else that might spill paint on their carpet: Goof Off makes a paint remover for carpet that works pretty dang well if the paint hasn’t dried yet. You can get it at most home improvement stores. It saved my bacon on more than one occasion when I worked in home construction.

@MichelleSinTO
@MichelleSinTO Жыл бұрын
Was about to post our resolution for spilled paint on carpet, too. We dropped an entire gallon of bright blue paint (which split open and almost all of it spilled out) on the carpet in our condo hallway. Tonnes of paper towel (and some sacrificed actual towels), we scooped up as much as we could, then worked on the huge stain. It’s thinnest around the edges, so start at the outside edge and scrub inwards, always keeping the edges wet, so the paint can’t set (interior latex paint is water based. This wouldn’t work with oil based paint). We used plain water and a scrub brush, frequently refreshing the rinse water and getting fresh towels. We borrowed the condo wet vac to vacuum up the (very blue!) water when it got too much, and then finished up with a Rotostatic brand spray on carpet cleaner (designed as a spot cleaner, not the kind for a carpet shampoo machine). This actually saved the carpet, and our relationship with the condo board! I don’t know how Goo Gone would work, but if it’s a huge amount of paint, this method worked well and plain water, a bucket (or plastic garbage can…), paper towels and old rags (or towels), are things everyone has. If they don’t have a wet vac, it would just take a lot more blotting & ringing out of towels. An absorbent sponge would also be useful. Would be even better if it’s not trying to clean up an ENTIRE GALLON of paint. Also, those of us who know what happened, have all talked about how funny it’s going to be when the carpet gets replaced, because we KNOW there’s going to be a huge blue stain on the concrete underneath. 😆

I thought the same thing. Now that she found the color she likes, she could have it matched. However, the process of small-batch mixing and painting with a brush will give it some subtle variations. I was almost going to suggest she could have done a scumble: take two different color paints and mix them directly on the walls: that can achieve an interesting visual texture, which can be subtle to obvious, depending on how contrasting the colors, and how much you blend them. But overall, I think she seems happy with the results, so it all worked out.

I was highly entertained. 😂 Very imaginative bedroom decor. My guy is very supportive like yours, only he prefers ornate, slightly-over-the-top French decor. We have some 15 pillows on our king bed, which I think is excessive, but he wanted them ALL, so I said, ‘Okay.’ As far as making your king bed look luxurious and balanced, try placing 3 large European pillows along the back for height. Darker antique gold shams on them will give you a nice contrast with the green and make your gold accents pop. You can vacuum your plastic greenery gently with a brush attachment once a week and that will help keep it nice. I have several large floral arrangements in my house and that really works to keep them nice. 😊

Add two European pillows behind your standard size pillows, and then buy a few more throw pillows for the front of different textures and colors. I guarantee you will like the bed much better! Also, if you went with a thicker drapery, maybe like a velvet behind that pediment it might give you more cozy vibes. And I agree with Nick your painting always scares me! I’m somebody who tapes off an entire room with plastic and the meticulously tapes every single thing and then measures. Your chaotic energy is everything I want to be, but I can’t, so thanks Rachael! Let me know what happened to the rug, though I’m really dying to know!

@newbeginnings2056
@newbeginnings2056 3 ай бұрын
If you add all those pillows just for effect - do you plan on sleeping in the bed? Though you only have to remove them once when going to bed - where are you going to put them? One extra decorative pair is enough. It's cheaper to just buy coloured pillow cases or a set of cushions & just change the covers if you want colour & texture. You could even buy all 4 seasonal covers if you celebrate them if one doesn't have a permanent theme the room. Maybe get some seasonal pictures too that you could switch them out that would compliment the walls.

You're right taping off things that need to be taped off and covering things with plastic. PREPARATION is key for any painter - professional or not. It's more expensive & time consuming to fix mistakes no matter how careful one is eg. If you get paint on the floor, skirting boards, door frame especially as you're using such a dark colour. No matter how careful one is - little "accidents" can happen.

Weird dusting hack! I also have vines on my walls (ivy vines spray painted antique gold with metallic butterflies). To remove dust, put a pair of pantyhose around the hose of vacuum cleaner and secure with a rubber band. You can vacuum up close to the foliage without suctioning it off of the wall. Also don't use the highest suction setting on the vacuum.

Wow! I am in awe. I'm often accused for going extra far when I design, but you were willing to go farther than I am. I love your willingness to accept "not perfect" and still go for it - too often I think "I can't get it good enough" so I stop trying. When I painted my living room hunter green, I was terrified of overwhelming the space, and instead went with accent walls - probably better for the living room, but the coziness of everywhere for the bedroom is nice! I wouldn't have chosen all the things you did, but I live your desire to take what you want & keep going! Truly looks amazing 👏
