Do NOT try this if you are brunnette though. It will come out looking tiger stripey, Her hair is about a level 6 or 7 dark blonde range, on a darker head of hair foils would need to be insulated for warmth and extra lifting capacity. This is best if a person only wants a wee bit of lift like 2 levels or so. If you are not nimble it could turn out a disaster, much better to take paper thin slices and teasy lighten it in a small tuest tube section... for real. She has found a great way for herself but not every natural haircolor will be able to use this technique. When in doubt go to a professional- ESPECIALLY if you have artifical color in your hair, to avoid banding😳😨😟

@SarahRoseallthingsCincyАй бұрын
I agree. I am level 4 dark brunnette. It have to bleech two seperate times to achieve the lift and get brassy orange out. I use 40 volume developer to lift the natural color of dark brunnette. Need to becarefil with level 40 as it can also damage your hair. I did a test spot first. I then tone each time. I do not recommend a natural dark brunnette go full blonde as it will damage your hair. I started doing my own hair as the salons kept putting highlights in my hair making me blonder every appointment I went to and saying they couldn't get the brass out even after toning. $250 apointment plus tip. No more.

Do you only use Olaplex when you're bleaching? I only ask because I literally used this once with this use and then one time about a week later and those two uses caused my hair to fall out in masses. I know I am not the only one, although I think I might be the only person I know who had this devastation in 2 uses. I have also been bleaching my hair in this way for almost 20 years and this is NOT something that happens to me normally. Just curious as to your experience.
@Rachelmckeown10 ай бұрын
Hmm that’s really odd! Sorry that happened to you! I’ve been using Olaplex part 1 and 2 for years, mostly I add it to my bleach but occasionally I do the stand alone treatment without bleach and I’ve never noticed any hair loss, I’ve only noticed positives like my hair feeling silkier and easier to brush. I’ve used it on many clients too over the years and I’ve never noticed that on anyone! Everyone’s hair is different so it’s possible that your hair has a bad reaction with Olaplex, I have heard of other people saying this online so maybe there’s an ingredient in it that doesn’t agree with some people, I’d stop using it asap!

Heyy, toner doesn’t affect the surrounding hair! It will only tone the pre lightened hair. It also doesn’t lighten it only deposits a tone, for example I used a blue/purple toner to neutralise the orange/yellow but this will not effect the brown hair :)

Hi beautiful! This is the second video I see of you, in the other one you’ve gone almost totally blonde aaaaand it was AMAZING! You are a master of blonde! I would like to ask you, is there something you do externally or internally for having such a healthy, beautiful hair? I had so so so many bad experiences at the salon and now I’m doing it at home by myself. I must admit this ain’t an easy road, since the science of color is not easy to learn and understand. But I am happy with my color, and that’s good so far. I can’t say the same about the health of my hair so I would really appreciate some tips and tricks from someone that really HAS IT. Thank you! Greetings from far away, from Spain ❤
@kitschmygrits48363 күн бұрын
Whatever you do, don't overlap the bleach onto the previously lightened hair. This can be avoided in a better way by placing a new foil right on top of your bleached root section and then folding it up. Bleach expands as it is sitting there so really make sure it isn't expanding and touching the bleached hair. Whatever you can do to prevent that lightener from touching the light hair is crucial. Then you won't have the breakage problem. But now that you do, make sure to use professional shampoo and conditioner, start a weekly mask treatment for strengthening and moisturizing, keep your hair out of the sun, tanning beds, no salt water, chlorine, hot tools only on dry hair, use professional heat protectant and styling products, satin pillowcase, make sure you have the ends trimmed at least every 12 weeks, and make sure you are cleaning the lint from the back of your blow dryer so it's not overheating and that your hot tools are not too hot or pulling on your hair. Hopefully your chemicals are professional as well because it makes a huge difference. If the damage gets bad, look into getting a good keratin treatment and perhaps see if a professional hair colorist can watch the way you are doing your application and see if they can give you any pointers. Take a video next time you do it. Hope this helps.

I'm just curious, why did you wait until it was really light, and put light brown on top of that afterwards instead of just stopping when it became light brown?
@JuniperLynn7893 ай бұрын
That’s a good question a lot of people learn when first using bleach. There’s no “light brown” phase of bleaching hair. It goes through shades of orange, then yellow, then palest yellow to almost white. Stopping bleach processing early will give you terribly brassy, orange or dark yellow results that you have to try to combat with toners to no avail (unless that’s what you want). Super frustrating. You need to get to light yellow at least, then you can deposit light brown color on top of that.

Did you say it had been 15 or 50 minutes? I think I am definitely capable of doing foils/highlights, I'm just so nervous that I will leave the bleach on too little or too long, so I'll end up with orange hair or no hair. Have you got any tips to check when the hair/bleach is ready to be washed out
@Rachelmckeown Жыл бұрын
50 minutes and you can check just by having a look at the colour, if it’s still really orange it’s too early to wash out but equally if it’s been on for the full 50 minutes and it isn’t lightening leaving it on for longer will just damage the hair, it depends how dark your hair is to start with! Also just remember that I am a professional hairdresser so if you’ve never tried before please be careful! You can practice with conditioner mixed with a bit of flour to thicken it and then practice trying to put in a few foils, it’s a LOT fiddlier than it looks x

I was thinking there is no way that she does her own hair and it looks that good, especially because you have so much hair. But I agree, this is adequate until your next appointment, i would not recommend anyone doing this on all their hair unless they know what they're doing.

Thank you for the tutorial. For Dark Brunettes or darker hair you will not achieve the lightness of hair as she did on your first application even with toning. Lower number = darker hair Higher number = lighter hair for example Dark Brown is 4 Lightest, Blonde is 10. So to lift the color with bleach/lightener you will only get 2 shades lighter with one processing. Going from Dark Brown 4 lifting color you will get a Medium Light Brown 6. But it will also be orangey and brassy. I see that toning, (product that neutralizes or adjusts the color) after lifting, doesn't help much. So ladies you may have to bleach a separate time 3 weeks later on the same spot plus tone. Lookup what toner would be best blue, purple or both. My salon would just keep putting all over highlights in my hair every time I went till I was blonde, not the look I wanted. So with research and my sister being a cosmetologist in another city, I figured out what works for me. Always do a test spot and keep the lightener/bleach from drying out when on your head. so use foil.
