This was a great one . I’m getting very good at roots covering gray and especially foiled baby lights . However I am afraid to do highlights followed w roots at same time. Like you did here- I’m afraid the bleach and perm color will mix and dork up the darker roots and make it too warm. I may be bold and try a bit of this technique behind the ear tmrw!

Can you do a video on a brighter neutral blonde. This color looks washed out to me. I want to make my golden blonde highlights less yellow, but not dull. My roots are 8n. I love you, but this color looks too dull to me, I prefer more brightness. I find when I use the 10P toner it really dulls the hair. It cuts the yellow, but really dulls the hair.

Hi Sylvia! Thank you for the updated tutorial. How do you ensure the dark color doesn’t affect the highlights when you’re rinsing it all out? I do the processes separately since I’m just an at home colorist and I also feel like the root color can affect the brightness of the highlight since when you wash out the color does slide over that bleached hair. Tips appreciated!
@Ellebangs3 ай бұрын
Yes, great question. You can always use a mask or conditioner as a barrier on your ends to prevent any color transfer when washing. I typically just hold the ends up when I shampoo the root area and I do it as quickly as possible.and I only massage in a shampoo when I feel all the color has rinsed off.
@mariannedonato49163 ай бұрын
@@Ellebangs I do that too, I usually coat the hair in an oil and then tie the ends up in a scrunchie and only wash/rinse the scalp before taking it all down. Okay I’m doing it right! Thank you.

Thanks so much for the video! I’m wondering if you could do a video on how to transition from global color to highlights. I’m so tired of my all-over-blond, I was thinking about letting my roots grow out a bit and just doing highlights going forward but I’m not sure if that would work.
@Lisa-yd5ov3 ай бұрын
I have an idea for you: let it grow out a bit and make 1 slice 2 inch tease, 1 slice 1 inch tease and 1 highlight with no tease. Between those slices / teases don’t leave hair in between. Start after those 3 again with 2 inch tease, 1 inch tease and highlight and so on. Do this for your whole Mohawk section from back to front and maybe finish in the front with some back to back slices for the money piece. Also do some tessed slices and or highlights on the left and right side of your face. I did the different teasy slices all over my head and turned out beautiful. Did make only 1 inch and 2 inch (the addition one weaved highlight section I will add next time). It was already many months ago and even I do now have a 3 inch regroth it looks still quite nice as there are no harsh lines.

@Lisa-yd5ov3 ай бұрын
Happy this gave you an inspiration. :) I got my inspiration from a KZbin video called: Brunette to Blonde Balayage Transformation - tutorial and formulas included Altertively you could also start now with your all over blond, weave out highlights as if you would lighten them and put conditioner on them in the foil instead of bleach. Afterwards you put on a toner root smudge (that is close to your natural color) on all the hair that is not in the foils and below you add a clear toner. Then you blend the smudge toner into the clear toner with your fingers for a soft color transition into your already bright blonde mies and ends. Hope you find soon a good way for your new dimensional look! :)
@sendingyoulovefrom62313 ай бұрын
@@Lisa-yd5ov I might just do a combo of those things. I’m just tired of being all one shade with such a harsh grow out

BTW, I bleached my hair yesterday (was really overdue, did not bleach it for 9 months 🤣) and did the technique with the teasy lights/slices and the weaved highlight. Does look really beautiful. 😇 Just wanted to let you know as I did not include the highlights the last time I did my hair. I do also own a Cooboard which makes working with teased hair much more easy, especially when you don’t need the color to start right at the root but one inch away or more. For the highlights I did not use the Coobooqrd and started the painting right next to the root. The different starting hights make a nice dimension in the hair, that I personally like.
