Great choice of colours! Whilst I tend not to use white in my work, Indigo and Transparent Yellow Oxide (both DS) are two of my favourites to use together in abstracts also. I work predominantly on Aquaboard so this surface intrigues me. Have literally just popped onto Amazon to order some. I know that my local art store has the Golden Pastel Ground. I have sooo much Watercolour Ground in my studio but this Ground has never occurred to me to use with the watercolour and definitely not on Plexiglass 😆. The paint just seems to move completely differently to Aquaboard (or my home-made Aquaboard). Fascinating video and lots of fabulous knowledge as always. Many thanks to both yourself and Lee

I used to like Aquabord but now have trouble getting results I like with it…I still like Claybord and Gessobord for wc/gouache. Hope you will like this technique! Thanks for watching.

@@LeeMontsArtist I agree, Aquaboard is very "specific" in what it can and can't achieve. I'm predominantly a portrait artist so I can get it to perform beautifully in that subject. However, I'm loving working with abstracts and different mediums right now and This combination looks so exciting. By the way, I forgot to say "I love your work" but I absolutely do and it looks so contemporary on the plexiglass. Love it. Again, many thanks and all the best from 🇦🇺😎

There is a show coming to Aiken Art Center - Equestrian Art. I might go. I might have to stay in Aiken and go for a ride too if I'm being really indulgent. We'll see how busy I am - I think the show is in October. Look up www.aaea.info/page/43854/2024-fall-exhibit

Is the Plexiglass available anywhere?
@LeeMontsArtistАй бұрын
I’ve started ordering from Amazon. Frame shops sometime have scraps. Big box hardware stores usually carry sheets that have to be cut done.
@bow2453Ай бұрын
How do you frame since its thick?
@LeeMontsArtistАй бұрын
There are many moldings that accommodate the thickness. I have also floated the plexiglass ….spacers and archival foam core are used to lift the mat. You can also paint on the 1/8” plexiglass, but I tend to use that for smaller works.

@@LeeMontsArtisthow archival is the final work? does it ever peel off? Gorgeous paintings by the way!!
@LeeMontsArtist14 күн бұрын
The archival quality should be really good. Acrylic ground on acrylic plexiglass forms a strong bond, unlike acrylic on glass. The layers of archival spray varnish also protects. Of course finished pieces should be treated with care as any watercolor on paper. I do tend to frame behind glass just because that Pastel Ground seems to attract dust I’m guessing because of the texture. But unframed pieces can be dusted off with a soft mop brush.
