Great videos! I love the decision you made on your racing loft landing board/aviary. I was torn on my loft also, and decided to do with a removable aviary cage that sits on a landing deck. (See mine at Honeymoon Loft). But I think I am going to change mine to a opening with landing board extension like yours. That will save me a lot of cage movements! Can't wait for you to get your race birds. It is a great sport, and you have outfitted that loft nicely. Congrats!

thanks for the compliment, There is one heavy 4" screw in the center that it pivots on. Glad you liked the video. 🙏
@mattgould14853 жыл бұрын
That platform and aviary is awesome. Do you have a latch that holds the platform in place when closed? Also, do you just use a long bolt to hold the spinning support in place? I am going to build this!
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, I’m glad you like the aviary. The doors do not latch because they are heavy enough in my opinion to Stay shut you can add a latch easily if you like. And yes there is a heavy duty screw holding the support in the center. Best of luck building it I hope it turns out great.

Going to be starting my loft this week, it's going to be the second floor of my barn. Going to build this same type of setup. What were the dimensions that you used height and depth, and do you still like they size? Thanks
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
I think I would go 3' deep because 2' is a little tight when they are all out there. 3 deep 2 high and 10' long. I'm glad you like the setup - thanks for watching and I hope your build goes well. I would love to see a picture when your done. rockyridge0725@gmail.com

Just curious why use nails as opposed to netting staples? Didn't know if there was an advantage to it in this type of build.
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons4 жыл бұрын
The only reason is because I had them available and those are roofing nails which don’t tend to rest so I’m sure it would work well both ways but I always tend to use what I have on hand. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching

There are too many issues with my local racing club and also I don’t think they are going to race this season. I really don’t have any normal racing pigeons I was expecting to get 25 of the ones I wanted but that has been canceled. There’s always next year, and I am looking forward to it. I'm new to this so, why did you split the coop in the middle? Is it for males and females?

So the material is 2x3?
@sdfsfklugi3 жыл бұрын
Whats screws did you use
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
@@sdfsfklugi You should choose a screw size that is twice the width of the wood so in this case 3". The actual dimentions of this lumber is 1-1/2 x 2-1/4" because it's a 2 x 6 ripped in half.
@sdfsfklugi3 жыл бұрын
@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons thanks alot, 1 more question you see how at 1:36 you drill the under and above the material how did you did this without hitting the two screws that hold the material together, and do you think 1x2 would work or 2x3 would work better, thanks so much for replying by the really apprecciate it
@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons3 жыл бұрын
@@sdfsfklugi I used heavier lumber because the unit was large and needed the strength to keep it strait. If you have a smaller one you could probably get away with 1x2 lumber. I didn't hit the other screws because I kept them offset for that reason. 👍
