You could tell from Kyle Busch's reaction after his win that even he thought his move to pass Corey Heim was a chkn sht move. I rewatched it numerous times to see what it was exactly that he did. I couldn't see anything egregious (no contact), but he put his nose right up the 11's tail and upset it's balance. Kyle Busch's demeanor after getting KBM's 100th win should have been ebullient. It was not. It was more like sullen. He knew he didn't deserve that victory. He stole it.

Kyle petty nailed it right on the head, you can't tell someone there wrong when there always right. Thats Denny Hamlin in a nutshell. It comes down from the way he was raised to what he's been allowed at JGR his whole career. Dennys overall persona is that he's a dickhead with too big of an ego, and you can't tell me that he's not. Also look at the hood flaps on Dennys car, they go up when he makes contact with Larson, and then they go back down when he come off him. I mean that doesn't lie.

Been going to Pocono for 20 years now, the atmosphere yesterday is one I haven’t felt in at least 10 years. The fans were hyped up for every restart and they got a very entertaining race! And the place was packed! Between how many people were in the stands and how long it took to enter the parking lots (and get out), I haven’t experienced this at Pocono since at least the mid 2000’s. And now I have racing friends that want to go to Pocono next year! So as my home NASCAR track, I’m very proud to be a part of such a great race weekend! The Pocono resurgence is definitely real!

Pocono is absolutely awesome! I was in section 213, my GF and I go every year. I hear people saying how "boring" Pocono is, like what?? It is one of the most exciting races on the circuit!! It needs 2 races again and bring back the Brickyard 400! Also, make Daytona (2nd night race) the kickoff to the playoffs. How fun would be the first race of the playoffs a Saturday night at Dayton. Nascar needs to figure their scheduling out and quick. Phoenix shouldn't be the championship race either, it should be Las Vegas.

The most frustrating part was how deserving of a winner Kyle Larson was. After getting wrecked out of the lead due to no fault of his own earlu, he battled back in a race where passing was difficult to get a chance to pull off the strategy to get and maintain the lead. Sort of like the 2022 Coca Cola 600 where one of the most outstanding shows of resilience gets ruined by a bonehead move by someone else. Hamlins post race is 180 degrees opposite of what actual happened. Not only did Larson not over drive the corner but Hamlin did. Hamlin also didn't give him a half a lane, a lane or over lane he instead hit him which he also claimed he didnt do. Hamlin is the biggest pathological liar in Nascar along with being the biggest hypocrite claiming everyone else doesn't drive with respect and constantly runs into people. I mean that's literally a brief synopsis of Hamlins whole career. Its like he describes exactly what he does or blatantly lies about what he does because the dudes a narcissist.

An interesting thing about Stage 2, history was made. Kyle Larson became the first person to win a stage in a race after wrecking within the stage that he won. Also, I've said this before in other places, I was not a fan of the finish, not because of Hamlin winning, but because NASCAR waited way too long to throw the caution on the Preece crash. They should by WAYYYYY more proactive than that on throwing cautions for spins when they are surely aware of all the issues associated with spins in the Next Gen (broken toe links, blown tires at much more extreme rates than with other cars, etc.)

Glad to hear your thoughts Eric. NASCAR was in no win situation if it went GWC or not. I was there, I never heard that much boo's at Pocono ever in my lifetime. Pocono is one of the tracks that is better off without stage breaks. Yesturday was the most longest 400 mile race at Pocono ever. 3 hours and 21 minutes. Removing stage yellows will flow the race quicker. Hamlin left me sour taste in my mouth the way he raced dirty on Larson. I don't care if he surpassed my driver's (Jeff Gordon) record at Pocono.

I absolutely cannot stand Denny Hamlin. There’s no doubt he’s a skilled race car driver, but he lacks integrity. What good is it to have the one without the other? What I witnessed yesterday was despicable. The only thing skillful about it was it was he was able to Make contact with Kyle Larson’s car without causing a full blown wreck. He fully understood that he would hit the wall. Then to make matters worse. When he was interviewed about it immediately after getting out of the car he lied about it. So he’s not only a despicable person who lacks integrity he’s a liar. How he can take any credit or joy for winning that race is beyond me. Someday Denny Hamlin’s chickens are going to come home to roost.

A little late commenting, but it's nice to know my comment might be read anyway! Pocono is my home track (grew up 30 minutes away) and this was my first time back since I went as a kid in 2004 and 2005. This place is having a complete resurgence due to the consolidated date, the improvements at the track, and the outstanding quality of racing here among all 3 series. The fans in this PA/NY/NJ area are already insanely passionate about their teams, and I believe they feel the desire to bring that energy to prove to NASCAR and "haters" that Pocono deserves a date on the Cup schedule, as it could still be taken at any time. With the improvements to the facilities and fan experience, this place should absolutely be a weekend experience for every fan. I have one disagreement. Being there in person, I have to say the Preece no-caution which was going to become an obvious caution once Denny exited the tunnel turn ENRAGED people in attendance. I truly believe if there was one more G-W-C and Denny cleanly held off Truex and others, the booing would have been more subtle. It played out in a way where Denny only had to lead one full green flag lap, and the fans knew it was a really cheap win all-around.

I was there, I didn't expect my first race to be *that* eventful. First, we booed race control because earlier in the race, it was a caution almost immediately. We booed Hamlin the second time after the race right before his burnout (he got a ton of boos during intros.) Also, being a Trackhouse guy, it really hurt watching Daniel make that turn into the garage.

nascar definitely should have called the caution with 2 laps left, but they still didn't know what would happen, so I respect the call. Hamlin has only really won the race because he wrecked Larson, but Hamlin might miss out on a champion ship he should race people with respect not anger.

Actually had a good view of this from the stands. There was clear contact there you could see it. edit: I went to the media center after the race and Denny had his golf cart pull right up to the door, and Joe Gibbs avoided everyone. They both completely avoided the fans and went out the back entrance to leave. Denny knew there were a lot of angry (and probably drunk) fans who wanted his head. There was a large group of Larson fans waiting there Specifically. Doubt anything would've happened to him had he stopped but he clearly knew to avoid fans just to be safe lol. edit 2: At least in my section, a lot of people were really mad about the finish, and probably more that Hamlin was "gifted" the win due to no yellow, on top of what he had already done to Larson.

I’m very against removing stage breaks at Pocono. That I think is part of what has helped this race I believe. That race in the past got the field super stretched out. I could be wrong, but I would be very worried this race could turn into a great afternoon nap.

I’ve been saying this since 2021. Hamlin just seems like he’s become a man who just likes to complain when things don’t go his way, and takes out his frustration on others who haven’t done anything to him. Even though the air bubble principle does have to be factored into the Larson crash yesterday, I personally do think that Hamlin did intentionally bump Larson out of the way, and Larson has every right to be upset. Racing is not for the faint of heart, and moving people out of the way is a standard in NASCAR, but Hamlin has been in controversy considering on-track actions for a while now. His actions with Chastain last year were well-deserved on Chastain’s part, but Larson didn’t. He was racing everyone clean, and Hamlin’s move crossed the line on terms of professionalism on the race track. The thing that makes this bad though, is that Hamlin’s sense of professionalism is warped. His attitude and moodiness on and off the track are what will guarantee he’ll never win a championship. He is just a driver who is naturally quick to anger and who is also naturally quick to take out his frustration on others, and never apologizes for it. Just like Robby Gordon used to do whenever he was involved in an incident, he always blames the actions on somebody or something else, and he never takes true responsibility for it. He just deflects the blame off of himself, and cries about it when things don’t go his way. And even worse, when things do go his way, he makes everyone feel even worse about it. That’s what I saw in Larson that day. He felt even worse about it because of how Hamlin handled it post race. That’s not right. I don’t know if NASCAR will fine Hamlin for this, but something needs to be done at JGR to help their drivers to not be such jerks to others on and off the track. First Busch, then Gibbs, now Hamlin. This has to stop. Hamlin should simply apologize, and everyone should move on, but I’m sure he won’t do it, because he never apologizes for anything, and makes himself, his team, and the sport as a whole look bad, and that’s what grinds my gears.

Whether we decide if the 11 car made contact with the 5 car or not, this is racing. Yes, Denny was aggressive but the same goes for Kyle when he decided not to lift. I love to see the edginess of this new car and how dirty air can disrupt other cars. All of the drivers are aware of this situation. If the roles on this were reversed and Kyle did this to Denny the vast majority would chalk this up as racing. Years ago Dale Sr would have done this and laughed about it.

Spot on Eric! There’s a difference between racing hard and putting people in difficult positions and putting people into the wall and not giving them an option. That’s the difference between what Kyle does and what Denny continues to do. I don’t understand Hamlin’s actions compared to his words. Actions speak way louder…

The reason why so many people were upset at the race track was because the flagged pulled the yellow out and then put it back and threw the white, it wasn’t about quickness but more about the massive fake out that occurred well before the white.

Larson owes Hamlin a trip into the wall. Hamlin is looking like the real-life version of Chick Hicks. NASCAR did the right thing for throwing the caution on the last lap when Preece couldn't get going. The way drivers fan out coming out of turn 3 driving for the checker, that could have been an ugly scene. I've always liked NASCAR at Pocono, the grandstand was filled, the road into the track was packed, and the crowd looked like an old-school, enthusiastic NASCAR crowd.

I was at the track, and I can confidently say the booing was an unpopular driver winning in an unpopular scenario where the flagman pulled out the caution, put it back, and then waved the white flag once Denny crossed the finish line. This was where the vast amount of boos were.

Come on Eric, regardless of how fair the shove was Denny absolutely did not "end Kyle's day". Kyle didn't DNF, his day finished with the yellow just like Denny. If you are as old school as you say remember Tony Stewart's angry years, Robby Gordon's antics, or Earnhardt vs DW. It was a dirty move yes but arguably the most old school Denny has been in years.

Yeah some people call it racing, but what confuses me is is Hamlin preaching no respect any more. I think you get what you give. One little wreck in the playoffs can cost you everything. He doesn’t have one car against him, he has many more. Funny how he says he didn’t touch him but video shows it clearly. It will work itself out.

As someone that was in the stands, the boos (at least in the section I was in) was more like 50-60% for them not throwing the caution immediately to set up the g-w-c. It was a consistency issue. They were trigger happy on every other caution EXCEPT the last spin. A G-W-C would have been an absolute disaster from a wreck potential perspective, but we in the stands felt cheated by the under yellow finish.
