This was amazing to build. I am a 77 year old woman who had never used Lego before we go locked down. I purchased this to give to my son when completed and did it in just over two weeks. I relied totally on the instructions as I know nothing of machinery and haven't done many technics but took it slowly making sure no pages were stuck together and it turned out very well and works as it should, .

It’d be cool if they added a pneumatic system to later sets. I remember some of the old Mars mission sets had stuff like that
@trif554 жыл бұрын
This is a model of mixed emotions! I'm so pleased to see multiple motors after building 42009 and 42055 which had very cleverly designed gear systems to power all the functions from a single motor but really struggled for performance because of it, 7 motors is such a step change in design, it's awesome! However there is also heartbreak, seeing initial pictures with the pneumatic hose I was so excited, I've always enjoyed building a lot and the play afterwards less, except for 8439 as a child and more recently 42053, the Pneumatics, especially with an air tank combined with the motorised pump and a hand pump (my 42053 may have had some upgrades from 8439) had such incredible performance, at full pressure 42053 made a really satisfying chomping noise and could lift more weight than it could counterbalance, compared to the motors which have always been a little lacking in power! Hopefully the 7 motors and longer actuators etc will improve performance significantly!
@crazyivan0309834 жыл бұрын
Well, at first I was disappointed that this is not a pneumatic set... but I always enjoyed building with gears with Lego so... this non pneumatic is ok for me. And about struggling... this is a beast. Even with 7 motors set is slooow. Gear reduction is high :) greetings from Poland :)

As much as I loved building this set and playing with it, the biggest issue I have with these large technic products is not only do you have fork over 100’s of dollars for the set, you are then required to have a device that costs 100’s of dollars as well in order to use it with an app. So if I were to buy this for my grandson, I’d have to spend almost $500 and then my son would have to either let my grandson use his expensive smartphone or tablet or buy him one. Either way, in order for someone to own or operate this, it could be close to if not more than $1,000 to do so. The fact that there isn’t a remote control that comes with this is disheartening for those who can’t afford all the bells and whistles. I still love it because I bought for myself and my grandson can enjoy it when he visits, but that’s still one of these issues I have with these sets.

i cannot say it's a bad set but i also can't really say i desire it, just the new xl actuators and big sprockets...for sure it doesn't seem to come from the creator of the arocs which is absolute gold! i'm not even so convinced anymore to buy the so wanted 42099, just because i need new joints and planetary hubs mainly, unless a supermega sale happen...i'll stay with bricklink, buwizz, brickcontroller and good old motors! the new control+ has only cons compared to what i already have...no possibility of a 'touchable' controller, no better power and possibility to manage it, size of parts, it feels childish and hostile to mocs and...that battery hub that runs on stilos is simply embarassing.

I am planning to buy one more motor to have round 8 (seriously) :) greetings from Poland :)
@DrewMarold4 жыл бұрын
So here we are, 14 months later. I'm just at the start of section 3, and the bug about needing all the motors connected is STILL in the app. My biggest observation so far is that while this set has about twice the part count of the Mercedes Arocs truck, and nearly 3 times that of the blue crawler crane, both of those models were more technically challenging, and IMHO more sophisticated engineering. The gearbox in the crane is bloody brilliant, in how they route the power of a single motor to 4 different functions in 2 directions. The new powerup stuff is cool, but this model is mostly an exercise in structural reinforcement and not a master class in powertrain engineering like its predecessors.

Just partially built it, got track base done. There is the option to test different parts while you're building, and I managed to connect to the track base (I know cause of the blue light on the hub) but the app believes that it has not successfully connected yet, and is keeping me stuck on the same "pairing" screen. Dissapointing, but maybe I'll find better luck with the completed model- or possibly another device (even though mine is perfectly compatible).
@RacingBrick5 жыл бұрын
Did you double check that all the motors are connected to the proper ports?
@BlackringIII5 жыл бұрын
@@RacingBrick Yes. I re-looked at the instructions carefully, and multiple times I unplugged motors and even checked how it would work if they were placed in the wrong ports. I believe it has something to do with the app; most reviews I've seen had that firmware update when they opened it up, but the version I downloaded yesterday did not ask for such while I was doing tests. Maybe it will when I connect to the completed model. I will give update when finished.
